The son of a former senator is killed in Miami while he slept
Former Florida State Senator (USA) Daphne Campbell denounced this Wednesday that gun violence claimed the life of her 23-year-old son on Tuesday in Miami-Dade, a county that has experienced one of its most violent weeks .
The Democrat pointed out on Facebook that her son Jason Dwayne Campbell, 23, left three children orphaned.
“I lost my son to gun violence in his sleep, the killer has no heart and he killed my son,” Campbell said.
Since last Friday there have been several shootings in the county, including the one perpetrated by three people who arrived in a van at a banquet in Hialeah where an urban music concert was being held and in a matter of seconds fired into the crowd at the exit. of the event. The shooting left two dead and more than 20 injured.
Gun violence includes gang rivalry, attempted robberies, feuds and, in the case of the former Florida congresswoman's son, love affairs.
Campbell's son was shot inside an apartment by the ex-boyfriend of the woman he was dating. Authorities have not released details of the attack on Campbell or whether any arrests have been made.
Meanwhile, the search continues for the three people who attacked the attendees of the rap concert with the help of several videos, including one of the three suspects and another of the crowd that scuttles between the bullets.
The mayor of Miami-Dade, Daniella Levine Cava, has described as “shameful” the “cold-blooded” shootings of the weekend that left at least 3 dead and more than 30 injured, and asked for help from the community to find the whereabouts of those responsible.
“These despicable shootings in Northwest Miami-Dade and Wynwood are shameful acts of violence that have left innocent people dead and injured,” Levine Cava lamented.
Last Friday midnight, one person died and at least six were injured, after an attack by an armed man who fled, in the central and tourist neighborhood of Wynwood.
