Irene Montero responds with a photo to Sánchez after blaming her for promoting an "uncomfortable" feminism for men

The Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, has answered the President of the Government hours after Pedro Sánchez accused her, in his interview with Carlos Alsina on Onda Cero, of having pushed back “integrative feminism” during the legislature. The PSOE leader has called for the recovery of this concept, which was already outlined by Vice President Nadia Calviño on the same stage a few days ago.
In the interview, Sánchez has underlined his “discrepancies” with Irene Montero and has added that “there is the impression that there is a citizen, a man between 40 and 50 years old, who has seen on some occasions that some speeches have been uncomfortable for them “. “I have friends who have felt uncomfortable in speeches that have been considered confrontational,” Sánchez insisted.
The attack has not gone unnoticed in the Podemos headquarters. Montero, after already participating in the first acts of preparation for LGBT Pride, has posted a photograph on his Twitter profile in clear response to Pedro Sánchez. In it, a poster is seen at a feminist demonstration with the following message: “Sorry for the inconvenience, but they are killing us.”
Just a few minutes later, the official account of Canal Red, the medium promoted by Pablo Iglesias, uploaded a video of one of his programs in which Iglesias himself responds to Sánchez.
“You know, girls.. Feminism, a little bit, okay, but don't bother us gentlemen, because you are very annoying,” Iglesias launched in an ironic tone.. “If I told you, Pedro. I wish I had vice presidents like yours and not these three harpies. One black, the other Peruvian, the other dyke, and at home the Minister of Equality. I am cornered, at 44 years old,” finished off the former Vice President of the Government, referring to his fellow program members.
The closing of the electoral lists, this Monday, confirms that Irene Montero will finally have no place in the candidacies of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz's project in which Podemos has joined in exchange for sacrificing her number two. With his intervention on Onda Cero, Pedro Sánchez seemed to be aligning himself with Díaz and justifying the veto of the head of Equality.
THE MISTAKE OF ONLY YES IS YES
In addition, Sánchez has assumed as his own the “error” of the law of only yes is yes, which has led to at least 1,127 sentence reductions and 115 releases of sexual offenders. But he wanted to justify the delay in putting a legal solution to it with a counter-reform of penalties.
Thus, the President of the Government has assured that he spent months trying to “persuade the Minister of Equality of the mistake that had been made”. And he has affirmed that he took the initiative when he was convinced that Irene Montero would not give in: “I opted for the socialist parliamentary group to present its reform of the penal code”. A reform that went ahead in Congress thanks to the votes of the Popular Party.
OTHER CRITICS FROM THE LEFT
Pedro Sánchez's words about the offended men between the ages of 40 and 50 have also found a response from members of the Sumar coalition parties. “I cannot understand that response from Sánchez”, criticized Hugo Martínez Abarca, deputy for Más Madrid in the regional Assembly. “Instead of going on the offensive, buy a victimist discourse that is not from 'men of 40 or 50' but from machismo,” he ugly in a message on Twitter.
“What a level”, has written for his part Carlos Sánchez-Mato, responsible for economic policies and program development at Izquierda Unida. Also on Twitter, Mato has criticized that “the responses that can be seen on the subject in the CIS show that most people are not like Pedro Sánchez's friends… but it seems that the president has opted for his style” .
