A failure in the count of 23-J attributes 287 votes to the Falange in a town in Andalusia

A failure in the transmission of the votes of 23-J has caused an unprecedented situation. Falange Española has 8.7% of the support in the Seville town of Casariche (5,332 inhabitants, according to the INE). Apparently, it has happened like this. All the results platforms, including that of the Ministry of the Interior, show FE de las JONS as the fourth force with 287 votes in the municipality, even ahead of Vox. Three days after the recount, this communist stronghold in the Sierra Sur, one of those small towns where the PP has never obtained a single councilor, officially concentrates almost half of the ballots for the fascist party in Andalusia.

Since Sunday, the telephone of the mayor of the town has not stopped ringing and he does not stop explaining what seems inexplicable: why in his town, a historical bastion of the left in Andalusia, the Falange has broken into the table.

“Concerned people are calling me to find out what could have happened. Imagine, in a town like Casariche…”, explains José Ramón Parrado, the councilor of Izquierda Unida, who hopes that with the publication in the press the population will understand “the error”.. “It was a failure of the PDA of a specific table. Almost 300 votes for Sumar were notified as if it were from the Falange, which was the option that was below,” he points out..

After 12 at night, after becoming aware of the ruling, the notice was given to the Electoral Board. The members of the table and the official, already at home, had to return to the polling station to sign and be able to claim a rectification. “The Board will take a few days to rectify until it counts all the towns and in the meantime it will continue to appear in an erroneous way,” explains the councilor.

Sumar's victory remains indisputable, despite the error: 34% of the support, which will go to 42% when the rectification occurs. But for a few days it will be inevitable that many will continue to wonder what has happened in a region where the left achieves good results, with other nearby strongholds such as La Roda or Pedrera, and even the well-known Marinaleda, bastion of communism in Andalusia.. On social networks, some users have published the strange statistics.

From the Casariche City Council and the party, they have released the results on social networks without counting the Spanish Falange, which after the rectification will barely add two votes, but the surprise of FE de las JONS continues to appear on the rest of the platforms to Vox.

“Some ask us to delete it, but until it is officially published, we cannot do anything,” explains the mayor, who prefers to take it with humor. “Tomorrow I have to go to the Provincial Council and my auditor has told me to wear blue and with shoulder pads…”, jokes Parrado, who governs with 10 of the 13 councilors of the municipality. The other three are from the PSOE.
