The house of 'horrors': a man who had relations with his daughter was arrested after finding three dead babies in the basement

A father and his daughter face life in prison for murder and incest after police found the decomposed bodies of three newborn babies in the basement of their home.

Piotr Gierasik, 54, and Paulina Gierasik, 20, were arrested on Saturday, September 16, by Polish authorities in the town of Czerniki, located in the north of the country, after the remains of three babies were discovered in shallow graves. and wrapped in plastic bags, have been collected by different local media. The first two bodies were found on Friday and the third was discovered on the same Saturday of the arrest.

The district prosecutor, Mariusz Duszynski, has announced that the young woman has been charged with two counts of alleged murder and her father, with three. In addition, the man has been convicted of two charges of alleged incest, one of them with the 20-year-old daughter – who also faces a charge of incest – since two of the deceased babies were the result of a relationship between them.

The other charge of incest is attributed to him for allegedly having had sexual relations with another of his daughters, the prosecutor points out.. With her he would have had the third baby, also found dead at the scene.

The father and daughter have been detained by court decision and will remain in jail for three months, pending a trial to analyze the case.

Suspicions on the part of the young woman's colleagues

Piotr Gierasik moved to Czerniki approximately 15 years ago, taking care of his children after the death of his wife. “The father was left alone with the children. There are many, ten or twelve, the older ones have already left,” a neighbor told the local newspaper Super Express.

According to his testimony, the man made a “good impression” in the neighborhood, since he had fixed up the house he moved into and used to take his children to walk in the forest and pick mushrooms.. “Just ordinary people,” he says.

It was following an assumption made by one of Paulina's co-workers when the story of this family began to raise suspicions.. The witness realized that the young woman could be pregnant when she began to wear “big, baggy clothes” to go to work and, in addition, she was suddenly absent from her job for three weeks.

“We all assumed she was pregnant, I think she had tied belts around herself like some kind of corset. When he returned early from his vacation, the change was visible. I was much thinner, weaker and constantly tired. We asked her about the baby, but she feigned surprise and denied everything,” said another colleague.

Another of the neighbors assured the Polish newspaper Fakt that Piotr and Paulina lived “like a couple”. “She called him by his first name. They walked hand in hand. A few months ago, he shaved her head so that other boys wouldn't look at her. The young woman admired him as if he were God,” he details in his testimony.

According to reports collected by authorities, one of Paulina's co-workers alerted social services after seeing a disturbing text message that the young woman had sent to her father.

At the moment, the Prosecutor's Office is waiting for the results of the three autopsies to determine how the babies died and the Police continue to search the house in search of more bodies or evidence that confirms the triple murder and incest.
