Dovbyk, Bellingham, Budimir, Lewandowski… Path to the worst Pichichi of the 21st century?

During the 2001-2002 season, Diego Tristán amazed football fans by scoring 21 goals for Deportivo de La Coruña. However, it was a difficult year for Spanish football as a whole, with both Real Madrid and Barcelona going through a rough patch, resulting in the lowest scoring table in the 21st century. Tristán’s achievements were all the more impressive considering the lack of competition, as he became the only player to surpass 20 goals and won the Pichichi Trophy with an average of 0.62 goals per game, the lowest in 30 years. It took the arrival of prolific scorers like Ronaldo, Forlán, Eto’o, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Leo Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo to revive Spanish football’s goal-scoring prowess. However, now, 22 years later, the problem seems to be reoccurring.

This season, we are on the verge of seeing the worst Pichichi of the 21st century. The Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk currently leads the race with 17 goals, followed closely by Jude Bellingham with 16 goals and Ante Budimir with 15 goals. Unfortunately, Budimir’s chances have been dashed due to a rib injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season. With only seven matchdays remaining, it’s clear that the league is lacking prominent goal-scorers.

The departures of Messi, Cristiano, Luis Suárez, and Benzema, as well as the physical decline of Lewandowski, who was the top scorer last year with 23 goals in 34 games, have left a void in Spanish football. Messi and Cristiano, in particular, were insatiable scorers who pushed the limits of the Pichichi award, raising the bar to 40 goals per season. Spanish football has always had notable goal-scoring references, but currently, that seems to be hanging by a very thin thread.

The situation has given rise to unexpected contenders for the Pichichi. Dovbyk, Bellingham, Morata, and Lewandowski will all try to avoid being remembered as the worst Pichichi of the 21st century. Dovbyk, who hadn’t scored since January, recently scored a double against Betis and a crucial goal against Atlético, making him the sole leader. Bellingham will hope to regain his scoring touch in the upcoming classic against Real Madrid, while Morata and Lewandowski have some ground to make up in the final stretch.

The situation is reminiscent of the past when players like Juanito and Jorge Polilla Da Silva struggled to rise above the poor scoring records of their time. In the end, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top, but one thing is certain: whoever wins the Pichichi this season will have done so with a much lower goal tally compared to previous years.

Dani Benítez's life without brakes: "The problem was mine, I didn't listen to anyone"

Dani Benítez (Lloseta, 1987) did not fall off when he agreed to work in a fertilizer company. With that salary he would support the family, while he killed the bug in the Arenas de Armilla, from Tercera REFF. His life in Granada is no longer that debauchery that ended abruptly in February 2014 due to a positive cocaine test.. Today is happy.

You no longer touch a drop of alcohol, nor have you flirted with drugs again.. Is it considered completely cured? That would be admitting that I have had a problem with these substances, which has not been the case.. Alcohol, for example, I don't really like. The people around me know it. I don't really feel like it, so I don't drink. One of the keys to his book is the importance he gives to those who lent him a hand in such a difficult time…At that time I had practically no contact with my family, but I always I have had friends who have helped me a lot. What happened was that at that time I didn't listen to anyone.. I have always been very on my way and maybe if I had listened to a lot of people around me, I wouldn't have made some mistakes.. The problem was mine, that I didn't listen to anyone. Did no friend tell him that he was throwing his life overboard? They've told me that many times, but it was very complicated with that Dani. I was so closed in my thoughts and in my world that it was impossible. Mikel Rico, for example, was possibly the soccer teammate who said it to me the most times, but Dani did what he wanted. Maradona's intimates said that it was always necessary to distinguish between Diego, the boy who had grown up among the misery of Villa Fiorito , and Maradona, the character he himself had created to protect himself from the world. Does this sound familiar to you? I feel quite identified. Let's see, I have always been a very simple person and very close to everyone.. In fact, people who have asked me for a photo on the street have always told me: “Hey, that's normal.”. The thing is, I am a normal person, made of flesh and blood.. What happens is that a character very different from who I really am was built around my football figure.. It is true that he had that point of being a more extroverted, more dynamic child, more of an attention-grabber.. But it had nothing really to do with anything that's been said that I've done.. Granada is a city where it is the order of the day to talk about people or invent things. Things have been said that whoever invented them was either drunk or wanted to make a fool of themselves with their colleagues.. They even said he had played me an Audi R8 in a poker game.. It's crazy. Throughout all these years in football he will have met many unscrupulous people. Do you still hold a grudge against anyone? Honestly, no.. Neither to football people nor to anyone. I am zero resentful. Although I have obviously experienced situations or moments where I could have that resentment, it is something that I do not like.

“They no longer cared about me, not even to send me a message and see how I was doing”

Today there is talk that footballers live isolated in a bubble that isolates them from the real world. Now that you live a little away from all that. How do you see this phenomenon from the outside? In my time, after training we would go to the bar across the street to have a Coca-Cola, a beer or some tapas.. Today that is impossible. And you, those of the press, know it, because every day it is more difficult for you to reach a footballer simply to interview him. And on the one hand I understand it because if people talk a lot, in the end what you as a footballer are looking for is to go a little unnoticed. For that part I understand and respect it. But not for another. I think the rapprochement with the fans has been lost a bit. And I think that is also good for both the club and the players. It is true that not everyone is like that. There are some nearby. But there is also a lot of fear of criticism, of people speaking badly of him.. And he knows perfectly well that from one day to the next it can go from very good to very bad.. That fear is what has made them close a little. Guti used to say: “I see myself dating at 20 years old, not at 60.”. I see myself in the club now, not in 40 years.” That's what 90% of people think, but of course, being more media, Guti's message had much more force. He was being sincere and I admire that. The social stigma of being singled out in Granada must have been complicated, but seeing yourself as a stinker among your colleagues could have stung even more… I am aware that I earned it for what I did, but it is also true that it hurt me a lot. Because they don't tell you, but you perceive it. I'm not stupid and I realized that it was no longer the same. They no longer cared about me, not even to send me a message and see how I was doing.. Footballers want to have as few problems as possible and it is very rare that someone comes out to defend you.. But that has also helped me to really know who has been with me and who has not.. You learn everything in this life. Can you explain in words what it felt like driving a car at almost 300 km? No, you can't.. I guess someone might think “this guy is stupid,” because he was risking my life and the lives of others, which is even worse.. But it was a feeling of total disconnection. I turned the volume up to full blast and whatever the car was playing.. That moment of adrenaline could not be replaced with anything.. I escaped from everything. He did it like someone who has a problem and needs to take some pills. Of all the backpacks you have had to carry in life, which one has been the heaviest? Obviously, one was the death of my mother in 2011. The other is that I have always missed having a family.. When you come from parents who don't have a good relationship…. That is the backpack that has brought me the most problems.. Although I didn't say anything, logically I suffered in silence.

JAVI MARTINEZ

When cancer took your mother, you were in a spiral of excesses that prevented you from feeling anything…I lost enthusiasm for everything, I didn't care if everything was black or white. That was my problem. I didn't notice anything, you know? It's like my life has ended, like I've been on standby for a while. Today I face it with much more peace of mind. Will this book help you forgive your father? My father has been forgiven for a long time.. Last week they asked me if he had abused me. My father did not abuse me. I mean, he didn't beat me. But the fact that I talk like that about him is because it hurt me a lot that he didn't know how to manage what a relationship between father and son is.. Because now I, as a father of three children, see it very differently, you know? If I had to forgive him for something, it would be for not having managed better, for not having been closer.. Each person knows what he does in his life and if he has not had that decision to tell me anything, either out of pride or because he sees it in a different way, then that's it.. In the end he is my father and no one is going to change that. One of the most powerful images in the book is him locked in his house in Mallorca, with the blinds drawn, after testing positive for cocaine.. Did you ever think about suicide? Yes, of course.. It coincided with my separation and was possibly the hardest moment of my life.. There came a point where I said “either I go ahead, face everything and try to change or I want to leave this world.”. Because it made no sense for me to continue here. Did you resort to the help of any professional? I totally respect psychologists and psychiatrists, but I believe that in the end you come out on your own.. With that, it helped me to shoot, to be stubborn and to get what I wanted, which was change.. I never went to or needed help from a professional.

“One of my mistakes was being so normal and close to everyone”

Some players do not see football as an end in itself, but as a means to acquire fame and money.. Did you really like football? One of my mistakes was being so normal and close to everyone. And that was also contradictory because I love football and I hate fame.. I am a guy with a lot of personality and I have always not cared. He has only set foot in the Los Cármenes stadium once again.. Perhaps out of nostalgia for a very good time in terms of football, but also very dark on a personal level…I went once with my daughter Candela, but I have not wanted to return out of guilt.. He told me: “Holy shit, I was in there playing and now I'm here for this and this.” And then also for the people, because imagine messing with everyone who practically knows who you are. Places with a lot of people bother me more and more, where they keep asking me for photos. I don't like. The bad part is that Granada has not wanted to know anything about me and that has hurt me much more than anything else. So I prefer not to go. At the board and club level, things are being done very, very badly. That's why the club is like this, honestly. If one day one of your children faces the problems that you suffered… how do you think they would act? You would try to talk to them, explain things to them. I don't think it will happen, honestly, but if it does, I am completely prepared to go through it and help you so you don't have that problem.. Thank God. My children are phenomenal. They are very smart kids and I don't think they are going to suffer the same.

JAVI MARTINEZ

Now there is a lot of talk about insults in stadiums. They sang everything to you. Did you ever think that you deserved it? If my name was Vinicius… oh my! What I have experienced in Third Division fields has been crazy, but I have never thought that I deserved it. I think there is no excuse to enter into personal matters. You believe a lot in destiny. Do you think all this suffering has been worth it? Of course. I have learned a lot and it has made me mature. Because the greatest of my evils has been the lack of maturity.

Fernando Alonso surprises one lap and will start third in Shanghai

On Friday, he made a remarkable performance on a wet asphalt, but unfortunately had to abandon the sprint race due to a puncture. Despite doubts about Aston Martin’s performance in dry conditions, Fernando Alonso delivered two impressive laps in Shanghai. He only gave way to Max Verstappen, who took pole position, and Sergio Pérez, who had a strong showing for Red Bull. It was the perfect way to celebrate his new contract and prove that, at 42 years old, he can still challenge anyone who stands in his way.

McLaren and Ferrari were locked in a battle for a favorable position on the grid. While they couldn’t match Verstappen’s dominant pole streak, drivers like Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz, and Charles Leclerc knew of Alonso’s speed in qualifying. However, when it mattered, Alonso outshined them all and secured his best grid position of the year. He even managed to recover from a small error in his first attempt, showing his determination and skill.

Against all odds, considering Lance Stroll failed to reach Q3, Alonso unleashed his best performance to secure a position between Ferrari and McLaren. This should have pleased Mike Krack, Aston Martin’s team principal, but Alonso went above and beyond with his impressive lap time. Meanwhile, Sainz struggled with Ferrari’s different aerodynamic setup, which hampered their competitiveness in qualifying.

During Q2, Verstappen signaled his dominance with a strong lap time, leaving the McLarens behind. However, it was Sainz who caused a red flag after running wide and ending up in the gravel. Despite this setback, he managed to repair the car and secure a place in Q3. Unfortunately, Lewis Hamilton’s hopes were dashed in Q1 due to a blockage at turn 14, costing him valuable time on his lap. The session was filled with surprises, with Nico Hulkenberg securing sixth place in a Haas and Guanyu Zhou disappointing the home crowd.

FIFA and UEFA assure their support to the RFEF to guarantee "the timely election of a new president"

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is currently facing uncertainty due to Pedro Rocha’s new legal situation. In response, FIFA and UEFA have released a joint statement expressing their support and collaboration with the Federation during this critical time.

Both organizations have expressed their concern and are closely monitoring the events unfolding in Spanish football. They have committed to finding a solution to ensure the prompt election of a new RFEF president.

The statement emphasizes the importance of protecting the RFEF’s institutional stability and invites all parties to work together in the best interests of Spanish football.

This joint statement comes after previous meetings in which FIFA and UEFA informed the RFEF about the planned date for the presidential elections. Additionally, representatives from both organizations met with RFEF directors and the Secretary of State for Sports to discuss the current situation and the electoral process.

The issuance of this statement coincides with the Sports Administrative Court (TAD) launching a disciplinary proceeding against Pedro Rocha for alleged misconduct after he had initially resigned from the presidential race. After giving testimony as a witness, Rocha’s status changed to being under investigation, despite having secured a majority of endorsements and being proclaimed provisional president.

Inconvenient truths and expectations in the EU transition

Brussels is abuzz with activity. In a world undergoing rapid change, amid the transition of power this year within the Parliament, Commission, and Council, a multitude of discussions and initiatives are taking place. As we evaluate the current state of affairs and anticipate the future legislature, it is crucial that we confront uncomfortable truths and recognize the necessity for rectification. Simultaneously, we must strive to untangle and structure a complex web of expectations.

Amidst these developments, the European Parliament stands at the forefront.

Iran inaugurates a new security doctrine in the Middle East

In a significant shift of strategy, Iran has unveiled a fresh doctrine in response to Israel’s assault on its consulate in Damascus. Rather than relying on proxy groups in Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, or Yemen as it has done for decades, the Islamic Republic took direct action on April 13. Employing an unprecedented arsenal, Iran launched a total of 170 drones, 120 ballistic missiles, and over 30 cruise projectiles.

The US wants to defuse the crisis with its absence of official reaction

The US reaction to Israel's bombing of Isfahan has been strange. Because there has been no such reaction. Neither the White House nor the State Department issued any official statement.. Biden, as a campaigner, did not even broach the issue at a meeting with unions at the same Washington Hilton Hotel where Ronald Reagan was almost assassinated in 1981. White House spokesman for National Security issues, John Kirby, canceled a meeting 'on the record' with the Foreign Correspondents Association in Washington “due to the recent events of last night”, which “have forced them to change their program”.

The most there was were a few words from Secretary of State, Tony Blinken, at the G-7 summit in Italy in which he limited himself to insisting – this time giving it an official seal – on the idea that the US had not participated in the attack and to urge Tehran and Tel Aviv to stop the escalation of attacks and counterattacks. However, the US does not seem concerned that Iran will respond to the bombing.

The objective seems to be that the crisis is forgotten as soon as possible and that no one thinks about it again, lest the next time the attacks be less about theater and more about real war.. The Biden Administration knew about the attack in advance. Israel had warned him on Thursday that the bombing of Iran would take place in the next 24 or 48 hours, according to US media.. Tel Aviv had also assured Washington that Iran's nuclear facilities would not be targeted by the bombing, according to NBC television.. Isfahan has key facilities in Iran's nuclear program. Washington has also confirmed that its Armed Forces did not participate in the attack.

US President Joe Biden himself had asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netayahu not to attack Iran. The political website Axios reported this week that Biden told Netanyahu that “you've had a victory, take it.”. The “victory” that Bien spoke of was the shooting down of the vast majority of the approximately 320 missiles and drones launched by Iran against Israel on the night of Saturday to Sunday.. A considerable part of these mills – more than a third of the total – were shot down by the Armed Forces of the US, France, the United Kingdom and Jordan.. The rest were shot down by Israel's air defense, at a cost ranging between 520 and 1,225 million euros, according to the Jewish State's own estimates by analysts..

Israel, however, decided to attack. According to the US media, the initial date of the attack was going to be Monday, but, under pressure from Washington, Netanyahu decided, literally at the last moment, to wait.. Likewise, the US forced Netanyahu to reduce the dimensions of military action. Washington appears to have been content that the bombing was little more than symbolic, just as the one Iran launched against Israel on Saturday night was.. In fact, Tehran had warned the air traffic authorities of Saudi Arabia and other countries the day before that there would be a significant number of unregistered and unidentified aircraft flying over the region in the following days.. It was a subtle way of saying that military devices were going to take off from Iran.

That Israel carried out the attack despite US opposition highlights the incredible influence of Tel Aviv over Washington. The United States gives military aid to Israel equivalent to almost four times what the USSR gave to Cuba during the Cold War (adjusting prices for inflation). According to the Bloomberg news agency, the US also pays a third of the Gaza war. Even weapons systems that are entirely Israeli and over which Tel Aviv has complete control have been paid for by the American taxpayer.. This is the case of the 'Iron Dome' anti-missile system, which Tel Aviv has repeatedly refused to deliver to Ukraine – despite the fact that the president of that country, Volodymyr Zelensky, is Jewish – and which will be one of the large beneficiaries of the aid package of 14 billion dollars (more than 13 billion euros) for Israel that the US Government is going to approve this Saturday.

The US has air defense systems in all the countries that Israel has had to fly over to attack Iran, with the exception of Syria – aligned with Russia – and Saudi Arabia, as well as in the Persian Gulf. The air defense systems of these countries have also had to detect Israel's aircraft.

For the Government of Joe Biden, the attack is another failure in the cascade of disasters that has occurred in the Middle East since the terrorist group Hamas attacked Israel on October 7.. Washington has failed to try to get Israel to carry out a targeted offensive against terrorist targets in Gaza, instead of carrying out a conventional attack that has devastated much of the territory.

Nor has it managed to get Tel Aviv to allow large amounts of humanitarian aid into the enclave, which is on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe.. Washington has informed Iran through diplomatic channels that it did not participate in any way – neither by providing information nor with any type of support – in the Israeli bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1, in which eight members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and which has unleashed this wave of attacks and counterattacks.

In the White House and in the Democratic Party, there are those who believe that Benjamin Netanyahu – whose bad personal relationship with the American president is as notorious as his closeness to 'Trumpism' and, especially, his friendship with the former president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner – is carrying out an escalation in the conflict to drag the US into the war. On the part of the Republican Party, however, there are no fissures in support for Israel, which are summarized in the phrase of former President Donald Trump, who has urged Tel Aviv to “finish the job” in Gaza. Kushner has criticized the fact that a beach tourism infrastructure has not been created in Gaza under the Hamas administration, which was a clear reference to the Palestinian economic failure, although there have been those who have taken it as a covert proposal for Israel to annex the coast of the region and expel the Palestinians from it.

The cheapest mortgages of April 2024

All financial entities offer mortgages to acquire properties: as we know, these are loans that have the peculiarity that they establish the property itself as collateral, that is, in a situation of non-payment, the bank could keep the home.. So the first thing we must be very clear about is that we can afford the mortgage and not go into debt beyond our means; Acting realistically is the best way to avoid disappointment in the medium term.

Mortgage simulator: calculate your payment

When making comparisons, the first thing we look at is the interest, because it is the rate that directly indicates how expensive or cheap the loan is.. But it is advisable to spin a little more finely: we must also analyze what links each mortgage requires of us.. It is common that financial institutions, in order to reduce this interest rate, require us to contract complementary products, such as direct debit of payroll and other receipts, credit cards with a minimum consumption, life or home insurance, and that we invest certain amounts in pension or investment funds…

It is common, and we can also benefit from all these products, but let's keep it in mind when making our calculations.

What types of mortgages exist?

We have always distinguished between fixed rate mortgages and variable rate mortgages. The first ones always maintain the same interest, without variations, so that the installment is the same from the first installment until we finish repaying the loan.. The variable rate ones are referenced to an index accepted by the market – in Spain, the most common is the Euribor -, and a differential is applied, which we could say is the profit of the financial institution.. In this case, if rates rise they will revise our fees upwards and we will pay more; and if rates go down, the opposite will happen, and we will pay less. So they are a double edged sword.. So we have to be attentive to these fluctuations and the effect they may have on our family economy.

The fixed mortgage is for those who do not want to risk anything and prefers to know what to expect, while the variable mortgage is for those who choose to take advantage of moments of low rates, but know that if those rates rise too much, they could find themselves in trouble.

However, in recent years an intermediate model has emerged: mixed mortgages.

The instability we have experienced has made many people afraid of the rate hike, but they trust that in a reasonable period of time, everything will return to normal.. So a mixed mortgage establishes a fixed term for a few years – which are usually 5, 10 or 15 – and then returns to the variable format. It is a way to ensure peace of mind for a season.

What are the cheapest mortgages in April 2024?

Let's take a look at how things are going this April 2024. In the case of fixed rate mortgages, the cheapest this month is the Fixed Rate Bonus Mortgage from Banco Sabadell (2.75%).

However, we must take into account the links that we have already talked about. This mortgage starts at an interest rate of 3.75%, but you can get up to one bonus point by meeting the following conditions: domiciliate your payroll or pension (bonus of 0.40 points); take out home insurance (0.10 points); take out life insurance (0.40 points); and take out payment protection insurance (0.10 points)

Below we detail the most interesting mortgages that exist on the market at the moment.. We classify them into three groups: fixed, mixed and variable.

Source of best fixed mortgages: Kelisto.es with data from the websites of financial entities (analysis prepared on 04/01/2024). The table shows the five fixed mortgages with the lowest interest for a term of up to 25 years. This term is taken as a reference because it is the one that best adapts to the average term for which mortgages are signed in Spain, according to the latest data available from the INE.. In the event of a tie, priority will be given to the offers with better conditions with respect to several criteria: the opening commission; the maximum percentage of the appraised value that allows financing.; the commission for partial and/or total early repayment; the number of products/services that need to be contracted to obtain the maximum bonus; the difference between the subsidized interest and the unsubsidized interest (the smaller the difference, the better). The non-availability of information always penalizes an offer compared to another for which its entity does show data in this regard.. If an entity does not have an offer for the chosen term, the next tranche for which it did have an offer has been taken into account.. This ranking only includes information on mortgages for any type of home, so the so-called “green mortgages” (which reward offers for homes with an A energy rating with a lower interest rate) are excluded.

Source of best mixed mortgages: Kelisto.es with data from the websites of financial entities (analysis prepared on 04/02/2024). The offers are ordered by the following criteria: 1) Lowest fixed interest; 2) Lower variable interest; 3) Lower opening commission; 4) The highest percentage of the house price that allows you to obtain; 5) Lower cost for advance commission; 6) Products required to obtain the maximum bonus. This ranking: 1) only includes mortgage information for any type of home, so the so-called “green mortgages” (which reward offers for homes with an “A” energy rating with a lower interest rate) are excluded and 2) only shows offers from entities with a presence in more than half of the Autonomous Communities or that allow the contracting of their products online.

At the home of Sánchez's bishop who decides in Euskadi: he risked his life against ETA and "for the game"

“What are you willing to do for the team?” “Anything”. This question, almost like a litmus test for political dedication, remains etched in Arcadio Benítez’s memory. The response, unhesitating and direct, came from a young, clean-shaven Eneko Andueza Lorenzo (born in Éibar in 1979). In the Éibar socialist group’s meeting room, Benítez’s words hang in the air like profound statements. Now retired, this former chemical industry employee captivates the attention of his three colleagues.

Uralde, Podemos's record man in 2015 and penultimate bullet to not disappear today

Few individuals can capture the story of Podemos quite like Juan Lopez de Uralde. As a historic environmental leader, he has witnessed the birth, rise, fall, and survival attempts of the party. Now, Uralde returns to the frontlines as a Podemos candidate in the Basque Country, specifically for the province of Álava. This movement signifies a strong commitment to the territory, emphasizing the party’s original essence and garnering support.

Uralde chose the working-class neighborhood of Zaramaga, a symbolic place marked by events in Vitoria in 1976, as the starting point for his campaign. In the face of the largest massacre during the Transition, Uralde launched his campaign with a focus on demanding change and ensuring a left-wing government. Accompanied by Ione Belarra, they highlighted the need for representation and resisting the loss of their current seats.

In Álava, Podemos seems to have the most opportunities as surveys place them closer to 3% compared to other provinces. Belarra emphasized the need to “stop handing over the governability of this beautiful country to the PNV once again” and called for support for the purples.

Amid this struggle, the role of Uralde is crucial in retaining the maximum number of votes and preventing leakage to other options. With a background as a former leader of Greenpeace in Spain and a prominent figure in the Equo coalition, Uralde became an iconic Podemos leader. Winning the seat in Álava with the highest percentage of votes in the country, he has been a cornerstone in the party’s success.

After a period of little understanding between Uralde and Podemos, they are now relying on his electoral power. Despite his alignment with Yolanda Díaz and Sumar during the fracture within Podemos, Uralde remains committed to the purples and aims to obtain a seat in the Basque Parliament. This serves as a symbolic battle against Sumar in Euskadi.

Throughout the campaign, Uralde has showcased his belligerent profile, distancing himself from Sumar and appealing to leftist voters. Returning to his activist roots, Uralde seeks to rally support and make a lasting impact in the region.
