Vingegaard, Pogacar and reverse symbiosis

Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard don't get along either well or badly. They are treated with a respectful asepsis. But three consecutive Tours in a two-way game have already established a type of relationship between them called, with capital letters, RIVALRY. It would be equivalent in cyclocross, which Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert have maintained since youth.

Rivalries… The sport has often thrived on its allure. Its protagonists have needed each other and contributed to raising their modalities to the highest levels of popularity and passion. Perhaps Leo Messi would not have been so Messi without Cristiano Ronaldo; and perhaps Cristiano would not have been so Cristiano without Messi.

A kind of inverse symbiosis that also goes for Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna, at the top of Formula 1 between 1988 and 1993. They measured their engines first as ill-matched partners at McLaren and then, separately, one at Ferrari and the other at Williams.

On two wheels, riders of a roaring metallic mare, Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo staged a personal antipathy since 2003 with both in 125 cc They didn't even look at each other, even if it was out of the corner of their eyes. They didn't even greet each other, even if it was out of commitment. In 2005, already in 250 cc, they reached the zenith of mutual hostility. “I was dominating the category and he came to take my place” (Pedrosa). “I was motivated by rivalry, and people liked it.” (Lawrence).

ethics and aesthetics

Cycling rivalry -we return to it- brings us back to Jacques Anquetil and Raymond Poulidor climbing, shoulder to shoulder, the Puy de Dôme in the 1964 Tour. It rescues Fausto Coppi and Gino Bartali from the immediate pre-war and post-war periods. Two men symbolizing two Italys. One secular and leftist and another Catholic and traditional.

The three fights between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, of a ferocity that bespoke mutual animosity, pitted two disparate powers in the ring. To a handsome, provocative, eccentric, tongue-in-cheek genius (a black guy from Kentucky converted to Islam?), and a rude native of racist South Carolina with no rebellious streaks. In Ali's sharp words, an “Uncle Tom”.

Neither could Carl Lewis, elegant, exhibitionist, from a wealthy middle-class cradle, and Ben Johnson, rough, stuttering, withdrawn, an emigrant from Jamaica to Canada, be seen in painting either.. A matter of aesthetics and, given Johnson's bad habits, of ethics, although Lewis was never free from all suspicion.

Between the late 1970s and the first half of the 1980s, the middle-distance racing rivalry between the aristocratic and aloof Sebastian Coe and the plebeian and grim Steve Ovett was something like the reproduction of the class struggle in stadiums.. A very British and literary social dialectic.

ruling party and dissidence

The rivalry in the 1990s between the suave Haile Gebrselassie and Paul Tergat was instead a national as well as a personal feud.. They embodied the bloodless but intense fight between Ethiopia and Kenya for universal dominance in the long-distance events.

That was high politics from Africa to the world. But, in the 1980s and 1990s, Anatoli Karpov, a Russian of the immobilist old guard, and Garry Kasparov, an Azerbaijani supporter of perestroika and glasnost, waged an ideological war between the ruling party on a chessboard. and dissent. Kasparov contributed his own to checkmate the USSR.

Perhaps no rivalry as deep-rooted and long as the one starring, at the height of excellence, by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Also perhaps none so fraternal and respectful of the most exquisite rules of the most exemplary face of the sport. Novak Djokovic, younger than both, was a third in agreement; an equal guest at the most gentlemanly tennis party within the most fierce competition.

In collective sports, the rivalry, in the NBA, between the Celtics and the Lakers led basketball, at the beginning of the 1980s, to a global dimension not surpassed; to an unknown expectation not only in the United States, where, until then, the competition was broadcast on a delayed basis.

The scene was commercially perfect. The East Coast (Boston) vs. the West (Los Angeles). And two men personifying in each team the best of basketball. Larry Bird, white and soberly accurate, in the Celtics. Magic Johnson, black and endowed with the gift of fantasy, in the Lakers. The formula forever opened the NBA to the world.

Bellingham shines and Joselu amazes, Ancelotti's rhombus settles in Real Madrid

Midfield, midfield…. and Joselu. Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid 2.0, like the result that he endorsed Manchester United this morning, is already underway and learning from each game as if it were an Artificial Intelligence algorithm. The white team listened to their coach and continued to assimilate the rhombus and propping up the defense as if it were that Real Madrid of Vicente Del Bosque from the beginning of the century in which the '5' was a certain Fernando Redondo.

Jude Bellingham is not the Argentine, nor is it necessary. The Englishman has fallen on his feet in the Merengue team and, each game (and he only has two) he insists on justifying the price of his transfer.

This time, it didn't take him five minutes to do it.. He picked up a long pass from Rüdiger, perhaps slightly forward, performed exquisite oriented control and chipped the ball over Onana. If we go back to Del Bosque's Real Madrid, European champion in the 1999/2000 season, we have to remember Raúl and his famous 'aguanís'.

It's not just about the goal, Bellingham dominates the stage. His imposing physique, not without quality, causes the team to play in his own way. And that Luka Modric, a Real Madrid legend, shares the midfield with him.

In the absence of flashy forwards, Ancelotti is clear that his priority is to strengthen the midfield and that this line be the one that provides the goals that are missing up front and help close the door for Courtois or, this morning, for Lunin. The Belgian is not yet ready to debut with the white squad.

The one who has not been able to do it either despite the good feelings he has left in training has been Arda Güler. The young Turk continues with discomfort and, despite his desire, the coaching staff does not want to force him in a season in which he could count on his talent.

Regarding the Madrid attack, much more present in the first part than in the second and this has to do mainly with the name of Vinicius, the definition still needs to be fine-tuned. The Brazilian had some clear ones, such as a shot at the far post that Onana repelled but, even without the goal award, it was the one that created the most danger for the white team.

The left wing is still the favorite place of the now 7 of Real Madrid. However, he will have to adapt to reaching the entire front of the attack in this new diamond for Ancelotti.

That place, the left wing, was also the place through which Manchester United mainly entered. Alejandro Garnacho was a true dagger for the 'red devils'. However, the Spanish-Argentinian forward could not cap off his great performance with a goal as the Madrid defense, and if not Lunin, stopped his attacks.

Change of trend

They turned the tables in the second part, in a duel that the first had a white color. In addition to Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, McTominay and Mount were not about to finish with the score at zero. But the defense of Real Madrid corrected the errors of the first match against Milan, both in the balls behind their backs and in the centers behind and, mainly, in the ball out. The white defense was much more serious and we are still in the first pre-season tests.

Although, seeing some sets, anyone would say it. Lisandro Martínez had a hard time with the Madrid attack using too much depth, even if the match had been official. When the first part died, he made a tackle on Bellingham that made all Real Madrid fans hold their breath. The Englishman, fortunately, got up more worried about facing the Argentine than his right knee, held in place by a strap.

striker goal

However, if there is a remarkable period it is the end of the second part. It was a key moment in what could be the new Madrid. A Madrid that must survive not only on goals from the second line, but also needs a '9', even if the number is still free in the white dressing room.

And that 9, after almost two games, appeared. and what a way to do it. Joselu decided to emulate old acquaintances of the Madrid attack such as Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo. They did it in the Champions League, yes; but there is no doubt that a Chilean is always a reason for rejoicing. Especially when you have looked for the goal in all possible ways, most of the time with another outstanding partner like Brahim Díaz, and you had not found it.

Joselu, the '14' of Real Madrid, saw how a temperate cross from Lucas Vázquez fell a bit behind him and, as if he had been scoring those goals all his life, he decided to rise and finish off with a Chilean kick. Great goal and claim. It may not be Benzema, but Joselu is a striker who finishes you off with a washing machine and that, in a team like Real Madrid that tends to reach the opposite area a lot, is a great advantage.

We are in preseason, but Real Madrid leaves very positive feelings even for this period. It transmits solidity, it transmits confidence in what it does and it transmits an adaptation to changes that is inappropriate for these beginnings of the season.. Something, by the way, that could also be said of Bellingham himself.

Telefónica earns 760 million until June and will present a new strategic plan in autumn

Telefónica obtained a profit of 760 million euros in the first half of the year, which is 26% less than in the same period of the previous year, and will present a new strategic plan on November 8.

The company will hold an 'investor day' in which it will present its roadmap for the period between 2023 and 2026 with three pillars: growth, profitability and sustainability, as explained by the president of the company, José María Álvarez- Pallete, in a statement.

Revenues in the first half of the year increased by 3.7%, reaching 20,178 million euros, driven by the growth of Telefónica Brazil (+9.8%) and Germany (+6.2%). For its part, the Oibda – a metric observed by investors to assess the profitability of the company – reached 6,266 million.

Regarding the second quarter, Telefónica accelerated its growth with a profit of 462 million euros, 44.5% more than in the same period of 2022, while revenues improved by 0.9%, to 10,133 millions of euros. In terms of clients, the company has remained stable at 383.5 million accesses.

The results have allowed the company to raise its financial guidance to 4% growth in revenue at the end of the years and between 3.3 and 3.5% in Oibda. Likewise, the entity has also confirmed the 0.30 euro dividend payable in December 2023 and June 2024 and the amortization of 1.4% of the capital.

The situation in Spain

Regarding the business in Spain, the company's revenues have increased by 0.3% to 6,183 million euros, while Oibda has fallen by 1.4% to 2,223 million. Billing in Spain accounts for 27% of the group's total business, while Oibda represents 30%:

The company has continued its good commercial trend, with a rise of 1.9% in private service revenues, thanks to the rise in prices, and which is offset by revenues from the sale of terminals, which have fallen by double digits. As for the drop in Oibda, the group attributes it mainly to the rise in salaries of the workforce.

The company has added 43,000 mobile contract customers and 24,000 fixed broadband, which is the best number of net registrations of the pandemic. On the other hand, it has lost 7,000 convergent customers and 60,000 television customers, a service that it has precisely turned around last week with a new package that allows people to watch several football matches and have access to a new sports offer that is also open to non-customers.

NEW STRATEGIC PLAN

During the presentation of results, the company has given some brushstrokes of the main lines of its new strategic plan. In financial matters, the company will bet on the most profitable businesses, which will allow it to increase its cash flows to have greater flexibility, which, in turn, will enable it to reduce its debt and increase its shareholder remuneration.

To achieve these objectives, the firm will maintain its commitment to B2B businesses and to increase the weight of technological services in its revenue mix, also mentioning the new ways to monetize the networks presented in Mobile.

Likewise, the company will also bet on reducing capital intensity and turning off old networks, such as copper in Spain, to optimize traffic and reduce maintenance costs.

Iberdrola neutralizes the drop in electricity with a historic profit of 2,521 million

In the first six months of the year, Iberdrola has not only managed to weather the drop in the price of electricity and the fall in electricity demand, but has also emerged stronger, with a historical net profit for the period of 2,521 million euros, a 21.5% more than in the first half of last year.

Not even the new government tax on sector income, for which the utility has paid 216 million euros, has managed to tarnish the good progress of the business. The electricity company chaired by Ignacio Galán has increased its income to 26,263 million, almost 2,000 million more than sales in the first half of last year. It has also widened its gross margin to close to 12,124 million, 23% more than the 9,8689 million in the same period of 2022.

The electricity company chaired by Ignacio Galán has increased its income to 26,263 million, almost 2,000 million more than sales in the first half of last year. It has also widened its gross margin to close to 12,124 million, 23% more than the 9,8689 million in the same period of 2022.

The company has cut its gross investments to 4,555 million between January and June, compared to 4,741 million in the same period of 2022. All in all, if the last twelve months are counted, they would reach 10,544 million, 8% more than, with 93% assigned to Networks (5,061 million) and Renewables (4,745 million). This investment effort is behind a higher net debt, which at the end of June stood at 45,760 million, 3.6% more than the 44,185 million registered at the end of last year.

The gross operating profit (ebitda) grows 17% compared to the first half of 2022, to exceed 7,500 million, thanks to the “solid results in the United Kingdom and in the European Union”. The group has reported that the ebitda has been negatively impacted, by 85 million in ebitda and 55 million in profit, due to a purely accounting effect on part of the regulated wind generation (within the so-called Recore) “as a consequence of the update, by the Spanish Government, of the expected market prices from 2023 onwards”.

Vladimir Putin courts Africa after denying him Ukrainian grain

Ready to whitewash his image and pose as a world power, Russian President Vladimir Putin vowed on Thursday to send up to 50,000 tons of grain supplies free to six African countries.. His words grabbed the headlines of the day in the Russian media as he opened a Russia-Africa summit in his hometown of St. Petersburg: “In the coming months we will be able to secure the free supply of 25,000 to 50,000 tons of grain to Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali , Somalia, the Central African Republic and Eritrea,” he said in his opening speech a week after announcing an abandonment of the Black Sea grain export deal that could cause famine in several African countries.

The Russian leader added that those presenting Russia as an unreliable food supplier were “telling lies,” which has been “the practice of some Western states for decades, if not centuries.”. The Kremlin seeks friends and partners in this second summit between Russia and Africa. The first, in Sochi four years ago, was attended by 45 heads of state or government. Only 17 presidents attended this one, in which Moscow seeks to strengthen ties in the face of the partial isolation suffered by the war in Ukraine, although several dozen countries participate in total. The Kremlin attributes this general “shock” to the pressure exerted by the United States and also France, which is still active in Africa.

In his speech, Putin explained the reasons why he abandoned the grain agreement, which, according to his version, was not taking grain to the poorest countries, a fact denied by the EU and which, in any case, was not in the right conditions.. The Russian leader did not acknowledge the fact that the compromise served to substantially lower world prices, which have risen sharply again since Russia withdrew from the deal.

During these days Russia has been redoubling its efforts to block Ukraine's grain exports and maximize the damage to its economy.. In addition to its systematic attacks on three Ukrainian Black Sea ports near Odessa in recent days, Moscow for the first time attacked Ukrainian terminals on the Danube river on Monday.. But at the same time he has used the supply of grain – in some cases stolen from Ukraine – as a vector to generate sympathy for his position on Ukraine in the so-called “global south” and create a climate of opinion against Western sanctions..

'FRIEND' FROM AFRICA

Although the Kremlin now seeks to bolster Russia's image as a “friend of Africa,” developing countries are at risk of a food emergency because of the invasion of Ukraine and Moscow's breach of the grain deal.. Kenya denounced this week that the Russian break was a “stab in the back” that “disproportionately affects the countries” of its region.

Despite its high profile in Africa, Russia invests relatively little in this continent of 1.3 billion people. At the first Russia-Africa Summit in 2019, Putin promised to double Russia's trade with the continent in five years, but it remains stagnant.. Moscow contributes less than 1% of what goes to Africa in foreign direct investment, and sends almost no humanitarian aid.

But Russia does offer products and services of interest to African leaders. It provides weapons (it is the main supplier to Africa) and security through its mercenaries and at the same time avoids instructing African countries on respect for minorities such as homosexuals, something that some authoritarian governments highly value.. Uganda is exposed to sanctions from Washington for a new law that established the death penalty for “aggravated homosexuality”. The president of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, appears as a speaker at this summit in a colloquium on “forms of new colonialism imposed today by the West on the world majority”. Precisely Uganda, and also Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Ethiopia, Angola and Burkina Faso, are among the largest buyers of Russian arms.

By hampering Ukraine's grain exports, Russia hopes to reduce Ukraine's budget revenues and significantly increase prices on the world market, and reap the benefits for itself.. “Our country is capable of replacing Ukrainian grain commercially and free of charge,” and “continuing the grain deal in its current form had already lost all meaning,” Putin advanced this week..

On the table is the future of the Wagner group in countries like Sudan and Mali, which hire mercenaries in exchange for natural resources such as gold.. His mutiny last June has raised questions about his future role on the continent, but Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said Wagner's work in Africa will continue.

In this appointment, Putin tries to lure other influential countries into his orbit, including Ethiopia, Congo, Nigeria and Senegal.. In return, various African countries have avoided condemning the invasion of Ukraine. In his speech at the meeting Azali Assoumani, the leader of Comoros and chair of the African Union, referred to the war as the “Russian-Ukrainian crisis”..

The Russian narrative is willing to contradict itself to attract African countries. Various spokesmen for the Russian regime, such as Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the Russian Senate's Foreign Affairs Committee, denounced the “neocolonial” policy of the West, while defending Moscow's imperial ambitions over its old territories in Ukraine and the threat that according to its seems to mean for Moscow the government elected by the Ukrainians.

Classical socialism rejects that the Government of Spain depends on "a fugitive from Justice": "It has to be radically discarded"

Classic socialism has raised its voice to express its frontal opposition to the possibility that Pedro Sánchez seek support for his re-election as president in Junts, the formation led by Carles Puigdemont. Its public representatives do not even want to consider that the “referee” of national politics becomes the person who called the illegal independence referendum in Catalonia and then fled to Belgium.

“It would be unheard of and distressingly surprising any Spanish Government that depended on a fugitive from Justice. This has to be radically scrapped. We cannot give this matter a letter of normality,” warned Nicolás Redondo Terreros, former leader of the PSOE in the Basque Country and spokesman for the Fernando de los Ríos collective, which brings together former ministers and former leaders from the time of Felipe González.. “That would indeed be an Iberian exception,” he added.

According to this internal socialist current, the reading that the scrutiny of the general elections has left is that the two majority parties must agree “to govern and reach pacts”. Although they do not go into assessing which formula they consider most appropriate to reach this consensus, they do point out that there is a “wide range” of possibilities that would not cause “restlessness, anxiety and restlessness”.

In this sense, from the Fernando de los Ríos collective they appeal to the spirit of the Transition, where “some came from the regime and others from prison” and even so “they had the ability to give up maximum objectives to achieve fundamental objectives, such as the democracy and freedom”: “We ask for it because it has already been done and it can be done again”.

“The margin of agreement so that Spain does not go to elections and does not depend on Puigdemont is very wide. Can it be a coalition government? Don't know. Can they be governance agreements? They may be. Can they be agreements that go beyond governance agreements and do not reach the coalition? It can be almost anything if they have the ability to renounce the most intimate and tribal interests,” Redondo Terreros has exposed.

And do you see it feasible for Sánchez to agree to any of these possibilities to come to an understanding with the PP and renounce the sum of the nationalist and pro-independence parties that have given him parliamentary support in this legislature? The answer is that the secretary general of the PSOE has emerged “strengthened” from passing through the polls and that he now has “an extraordinary opportunity to rise to the occasion” that Spain and his own formation require.

“Of course I see it clearly: in the situation in which he is tomorrow, I would meet with Mr. [Alberto Núñez] Feijóo without my apriorities and without his apriorities and I would talk with him at length. And I would get my party out of the polluting relationships it can have with parties like Puigdemont's,” the former Basque leader stressed.

The Fernando de los Ríos collective has exposed its analysis of 23-J in a press conference convened this Wednesday in Madrid in which the professor of Sociology José Antonio Díaz, in turn, has explained that Spanish politics has been once again articulated around the PP and the PSOE, which together gathered 60% of the votes on Sunday, and that “acting from the extremes would be a mistake for the future”. “The confrontational strategy feeds them,” he stressed.

ERC and Junts are summoned to create "a common front" to negotiate the investiture of Pedro Sánchez

The results of 23-J have led to new calls for unity in the pro-independence ranks. The first control session of the Government in the Catalan Parliament after the general elections has had as a common thread the need for Pedro Sánchez to have all the votes of the secessionist forces in view of his re-election as president of the Government.

Esquerra Republicana and Junts per Catalunya have appealed this morning to form “a common front” to negotiate in Madrid, an aspiration that is by no means new and that, in the last four years, has not materialized due to the different sheets of the route towards independence that each of these two parties follows. Precisely, the unity of action in the Cortes Generales was one of the demands that JxCat placed on ERC days before breaking its government pact last October.

After admitting that the results of the independence movement “were not good”, but that they served to “stop the right and the extreme right”, the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, has summoned his former Cabinet partners to “work together”. in the negotiation with the PSOE. At the same time, the head of the Government has asked Sánchez for “political courage” and “courage” so that his proposals allow “advancing towards the resolution of the conflict between Catalonia and the State”.

The parliamentary leader of Junts, Albert Batet, has picked up the gauntlet and has assured that his party “will not shy away from this opportunity to unblock the conflict”. The post-convergent deputy, yes, wanted to make it clear that the hot potato is now in the hands of the socialist candidate.

Batet, however, has warned that they will be “faithful to their commitments” with their voters and that they will use “the position of strength” granted by the polls “to defend Catalonia and not to guarantee the governability of Spain.”

The president of JxCat in the autonomous Chamber has taken the opportunity to once again reproach Esquerra that his “false dialogue strategy has not worked”, but has shown his party's predisposition to design “a shared strategy in Madrid in defense of the right to self-determination “.

The PP offers itself to Illa

A different reading of the results of 23-J has been made by the president of the Catalan PP, Alejandro Fernández. The popular leader has summoned the first secretary of the PSC, Salvador Illa, to take advantage of a “historic opportunity to end the process”, since the independence forces “received less electoral support than ever.”

For this reason, Fernández advocates “taking away their influence in Madrid, instead of giving them back the key” to governance. This means that the Socialists allow Alberto Núñez Feijóo, as the winner of the elections on Sunday, to be sworn in as president.

The counterpart, he added, would go through “building a non-nationalist alternative in Catalonia” led by Illa, whom the PP would be willing to support after the next regional elections, scheduled for early 2025 if there is no progress.

Even so, the leader of the Catalan PP is not optimistic and fears that “constitutionalism will end up losing a great opportunity to achieve a non-nationalist government in Catalonia”. Fernández suspects that the PSC “will prefer to be held hostage by Sánchez so that he can use it as a bargaining chip with the independentistas in order to stay in power.”

Ambulances at 47 degrees because "not even the air conditioning" works

A 56-year-old woman with dyspnea (difficulty breathing) and tachycardia had to wait thirty minutes for a vehicle to take her to the hospital because there was no ambulance available at that time.

Twenty-five minutes, which seemed like forever, it took the vehicle that took a 48-year-old man who had been run over on the SE-30 to a health center to arrive.. There was also no ambulance.

A 53-year-old man who suffered a myocardial infarction in the middle of the street was waiting for a transfer for twenty minutes. The ambulance never arrived and he was taken to the hospital in another alternative vehicle.

The three previous cases have happened in Seville in recent days and have been denounced by the Seville Medical Union (SMS) to illustrate (and demonstrate) the consequences that the shortage and lack of maintenance of the advanced life support ambulances for Out-of-hospital Emergency (SUAP).

For eight months, in the health district of Seville, finding an out-of-hospital emergency ambulance -those that attend to emergencies such as those described- in conditions is more than complicated.

According to the SMS, the usual thing is that a few are out of service due to multiple breakdowns: that the smoke from the exhaust pipe enters the cabin, the doors do not close or that the interior temperature even reaches 47 degrees during the transfer. of a patient because “not even the air conditioning works”.

This forces, on many occasions, to look for alternatives and use other types of vehicles to transport the sick, such as the so-called rapid intervention vehicles or cars without sirens, lights or stretchers.

Temperature reached in one of the ambulances. SMS

Currently, the professional union pointed out, of the six teams that attend to the notices in the city of Seville, only four have an ambulance. The other two have to make do with rapid intervention vehicles that are not prepared or equipped for the transfer of patients.

The SMS also complains that this situation has been brought to the attention of the health district management repeatedly without, until now, solutions have been sought. “The fact that urgent notices, in which the life of a person is at risk, are attended with vehicles that do not allow urgent transfer to the hospital, puts the lives of these patients at serious risk,” warns the union.

In addition, to the lack of ambulances is added, according to the SMS, the shortage of materials and the reduction of the staff of doctors. “From the Medical Union of Seville we have been denouncing for years the increase in the delay in attention to out-of-hospital emergencies caused by insufficient staff”. As a consequence, of the six theoretically existing emergency teams, some will not have a doctor, that is, they will only be staffed by nursing staff and technical drivers.

For its part, the SAS, to questions from Europa Press, has assured that the provision of vehicles from the Seville District and 061 “guarantees assistance” and has announced that it is working on a specification to “award a new contract to have ten ambulances new ones”, while he has defended a “fluid and continuous work” with the unions.

The SAS has detailed that the District has two vehicles designed to transport advanced life support equipment and the “necessary” human equipment for emergency care “in the shortest possible time”.. The Board has wielded “another seven operational medicalized ambulances, which will be nine this Thursday, July 27, belonging to the Primary Care emergency services, and another seven from the urgent transport network.”

“If a transfer of the patient is necessary, the most appropriate resource is activated by the emergency coordinating center, which assesses the condition of each patient and their needs,” the SAS has replied to the criticism of the SMS.

The Ombudsman warns about the “deterioration” of public health

The Andalusian Ombudsman, Jesús Maeztu, alerted yesterday about several situations that are causing a setback of rights for citizens, and that have become “chronified”. “It is inadmissible that we assume it as something daily and normal,” he said.

Maeztu denounced “the deterioration” of public health as another of the issues that has most concerned Andalusians, with special attention to primary care and mental health problems.. The Ombudsman has also dealt with the right to education; of the eradication of the settlements of migrants in Huelva and Almería, and of the risks of the digital transition, for which he demanded a regulation of the prior appointment that ends the delays in citizen attention, while complementary face-to-face attention to telematics.

Maeztu appeared before the plenary session of Parliament to present the 2022 Annual Report of the institution, in which he has offered a balance of more than 25,000 actions.

The Ombudsman recounted these “unacceptable” situations that are affecting numerous groups, and gave examples of the elderly, people with disabilities, dependents, children, families or single women with children, “in matters as varied as subsistence income or access to housing worthy.”

Three arrested after sexually assaulting and robbing a 19-year-old girl in a shopping center in Alicante

Three men between the ages of 20 and 28 have been arrested for their involvement in the sexual assault and robbery of a 19-year-old girl in the vicinity of a shopping center in Alicante, when it was closed to the public..

After the arrest, carried out by the National Police, the duty court has ordered the entry into prison for two of them, while the third is on provisional release.

According to sources from the Provincial Police Station, the sexual assault was committed by one of them, while another of those arrested who has entered prison was commissioned to cooperate so that the events could be perpetrated..

The attack occurred at dawn on July 11 after the young woman decided to take a shortcut to reach her destination and crossed through a shopping center parking lot without realizing that those now arrested were following her by car.. One of them got out of the vehicle and followed the victim on foot until he violently pounced on her.

The assailant demanded that the victim hand over money and a mobile phone, but when he gave it to her, he did not let her leave, instead sexually assaulting her while her brother and a friend waited in the car.

Once the rape was completed, the alleged perpetrator took her bag and was picked up by the other two involved. The three fled the place in the car and the victim was able to ask for help from pedestrians who were on public roads and alerted the Police.

Agents of the National Police went to the place, who helped the victim, activated the protocol for this type of sexual crimes and transferred the young woman to a hospital.

Subsequently, the young woman formalized the complaint and, after providing the physical characteristics of her attacker, the police investigations began, including the analysis of the recordings from different cameras with which it was possible to identify and locate the vehicle used by the suspected assailants. Six days after the events, the National Police managed to arrest them.

The three detainees were transferred to the offices of the Provincial Police Station of Alicante and, later, after instructing the proceedings, they went to court, which ordered provisional detention for two of them and freedom for the young man who was driving the car while waiting for trial is held.

Former rapper Abdel Bary on trial for jihadist terrorism found dead in his cell

The former British rapper of Egyptian origin Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary has been found dead in his prison cell where he was admitted, without the cause of his death being known at the moment. Prison sources have confirmed the death of the alleged jihadist, who had recently been tried at the National Court.

The prison – the sources have not specified which one he was in – has reported the death to the guard court, which will open an investigation to find out the causes, as well as Penitentiary Institutions. Before, the body will be autopsied.

On the 14th of this month, the trial against the former rapper, alias L. Jinny, who in 2020 arrived in Almería by boat from Algeria and was detained by the Police for the “risk to national security” represented by the fact that he was a returnee from Syria, according to the prosecutor in his final conclusions.

Precisely, in that last session of the trial, the representative of the Public Ministry maintained his request for 9 years in prison for the former rapper and 7 and 8 years for the other two defendants with whom he was arrested.. He accused the three of them of forming a jihadist cell dedicated to committing banking scams on the internet and trafficking cryptocurrencies to “finance their terrorist activities.”

The prosecutor defended the police action, questioned by the defenses, and stated that the arrest was made urgently on suspicion that Abdel Bary was a fighter of the Islamic State in Syria. Interpol notified the Police of the entry of these three people into Spain and that led to the arrests, as the prosecutor acknowledged.

For his part, Abdel Bary's lawyer asked that the proceedings for irregularities in the arrests be annulled and that, in any case, he be acquitted because it has not been proven at any time that he led a terrorist cell.

In that session, Abdel Bary used his right to the last word to influence the same ideas as his lawyer and argued that the terrorist cells are led by a religious guide or imam and that he lacked that authority.
