Genoa calls on Guardiola to "reduce the tension" with Vox and the media "noise"

María Guardiola went to Madrid this Friday to inaugurate Isabel Díaz Ayuso as president of the Community of Madrid. But the baroness of the PP of Extremadura avoided making statements to the media, who await her with great expectation. It was the first symptom of the new strategy that Genoa has formally requested in the last few hours from the president of the PP of Extremadura, as various sources have confirmed to EL MUNDO.

Accustomed to overexposure since the electoral night of 28-M, the leadership of the Popular Party considers that having the media spotlight on them every day, and even more so after losing the Assembly Table last Tuesday, has harmed their candidate in Extremadura. And they especially complain, like many territorial barons, of his appearance as soon as he lost the vote, considering that he “blew up all the bridges” with Vox, so reversing the situation is going to be very difficult, let alone trying to lower the demands of Abascal's party to reach an agreement for the presidency of the Junta de Extremadura that in Genoa, they still see possible. “More than the bottom, they complain about the forms,” assures a well-informed source to EL MUNDO.

At first, what was happening in Extremadura, in the first days of the negotiations, was even serving the PP well after the surprising, rapid and controversial agreement with Vox in the Valencian Community. “It served to balance the different sensibilities of the party and continue to widen the space”. But what at first was viewed favorably has ended up being “a serious problem that only favors Pedro Sánchez, who must be delighted.”

The problem, therefore, is that “he has put all the focus on us, when Sánchez should have the focus and nobody anymore -complains this source- talks about what he has done during the legislature, about his pacts with Bildu, of pardons…. The entire agenda is in Extremadura and María Guardiola, and in how the party handles the pacts with Vox,” the aforementioned sources point out.

In this way, the “mess in Extremadura has changed the topic of conversation, not only in gatherings, but also among the citizens and that for us -these PP sources say- is very bad for us because 28-M was voted in code Sánchez and now we are getting lost in this maze”. It is about Guardiola, therefore, “trying to calm down”. And these sources add: “Worse than the break with Vox are the ways in which it occurred, with those attacks out of tune, almost ruthless.”

“Tone Down”

So Genoa, which continues to endorse María Guardiola as a benchmark in Extremadura, has expressly asked her to “lower her tone, to let the party with which she has to agree to govern attack all day and, above all, to stop to be exposed so much on national television and to give so many interviews, because in the end, in anything, you end up screwing up or it is misinterpreted”. In short, that “raise your foot” and put aside “the turné of the media.”

“The noise must end because it is harming us all, especially the strategy of the national campaign, but of course also the regional barons, but not only them, also the mayors who have agreed with Vox in the rest from Spain, who also feel uncomfortable because it has placed them in a difficult situation”.

In this sense, it must not be forgotten that, in Extremadura itself, up to five municipalities have reached an agreement between PP and Vox. They have been those of Navalmoral de la Mata, Talayuela, Losar de Vera and Valverde del Fresno. Guardiola has justified these pacts in the same strategy that Genoa has given to the barons in their communities: freedom of negotiation for their municipal candidates.

What they did have clear on the top floor of Genoa is that Feijóo was going to publicly endorse it this Friday in the act of proclamation of Díaz Ayuso, where he has made it clear that there are “deep discrepancies” between PP and Vox in Extremadura and that “no there is a possibility at the moment of reaching an agreement”.

Genoa's recommendation to Guardiola would not only be about reducing the internal tension existing in the rest of the territorial barons but also as her own strategy in order to try to retake the completely broken bridges with Vox: “The Assembly of Extremadura has been lost, but still the situation is reversible. But the first thing is that she lowers her tone to get the government, even if it is later difficult to govern with the parliamentary table against it, but that will already be a minor difficulty and a difficulty that can be saved, that would be seen… “.

The new Super Club World Cup of 2025 will be held in the United States: Madrid, City and Chelsea, already classified

The FIFA Council has decided today that the United States will host the first edition of the new Club World Cup, which will be held every four years, will start in 2025 and will feature 32 teams.. In a session held by videoconference from the entity's headquarters in Zurich (Switzerland), FIFA took into account that the North American country “has demonstrated its exceptional capacity to organize world-class competitions” and, furthermore, “the designation will allow us to take advantage of the synergies created by hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA”.

The dates and venues will be determined “soon”, the organization specified, while Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, stressed that it will be “a historic event”. “Fans from all continents will travel to the United States within two years full of energy and enthusiasm for this historic event, which is part of our mission to achieve truly global soccer,” he said.

Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea are the European clubs that have already qualified, along with Saudi Al Hilal (champion of the AFC Champions League 21-22), Egyptian Al Ahly (champion of the CAF Champions League 20-21 and 22-23), Moroccan Wydad Casablanca (21-22 CAF Champions), Mexican Monterrey (2021 Concacaf Champions), American Seattle Sounders (2022 Concacaf Champions) , the Brazilian Palmeiras (2021 Libertadores champion), the Brazilian Flamengo (2022 Libertadores champion), the Japanese Urawa Red Diamonds (2023 AFC Champions) and Club León (2023 Concachampions champion).

the 32 squares

In February 2023, FIFA defined the scheme to distribute the 32 places among the continental Confederations:

UEFA: 12 clubs. Champions of the Champions League from 2020/21 to 2023/24 and the remaining eight places will be allocated according to the confederation club ranking.

CONMEBOL: 6 clubs. champions of the Copa Libertadores, from 2021 to 2024, and the two remaining places will be awarded according to the ranking of clubs in the confederation.

Concacaf: 4 clubs. Champion of the Concachampions from 2021 to 2024.

AFC: 4 clubs. Champion of the AFC Champions League from 2021 to 2024.

CAF: 4 clubs. CAF Champions League champion from 2021 to 2024.

OFC: 1 club. Among the OFC Champions League champions from 2021 to 2024, the one with the best position in the Confederation club ranking will qualify.

Host country: 1 place. The access of the team that occupies this place will be determined later.

In the event that a club has won two or more editions of the highest club competition of its confederation in the 2021-2024 period, a club classification calculated according to sporting criteria will be used to access the tournament.. A limit of two clubs per country will be imposed on the access list, except in cases where more than two clubs from the same country win their confederation's top club competition over a four-year period. For example, while waiting to find out the champion of the UEFA Champions League 23-24, those eight European places would be occupied right now, according to the UEFA ranking, by Bayern, PSG, Juventus, Barcelona, Rome, Ajax, Dortmund and Benfica.. Teams like Liverpool, Manchester United, Sevilla, Atlético or Inter would be left out unless they win the next edition.

The format will have a group phase with eight divisions and four participants each, in which the first two of each group will qualify for the round of 16.

Vara already has the first critic within the PSOE of Extremadura: "He should have taken a step back to leave a more exciting project"

It was an open secret, which surely would have become official much sooner if Pedro Sánchez had not brought forward the general elections, which forced Fernández Vara to back down in his intention to abandon politics the day after having assumed as an electoral “failure”. the results of the PSOE of Extremadura on 28-M, the worst in the history of their party.

That there was going to be a great dispute for the succession was as evident as the fact that the mayor of Villanueva de la Serena, Miguel Ángel Gallardo, who was also president of the Provincial Council, was on the exit ramp.. Everything was planned in the calendar, with the celebration of a congress of Extremadura socialists in October to name a new leader in Extremadura to replace the current baron from Extremadura, who has also been 'resurrected' thanks to the lack of agreement between María Guardiola and Vox Extremadura.

In fact, Vara has already announced that he will not miss the opportunity and, although the numbers do not give him, he is going to appear for the investiture in the Extremadura parliament, which will also serve as an electoral act a few days before the general elections.

However, and within this context of uncertainty, whoever stands as successor has not waited for the situation to become clearer, or for it to become even more convoluted, and today he has taken a step forward, without hesitation.. “Vara should have taken a step back to leave a more exciting project,” he assured in an interview in the regional newspaper Hoy. In his opinion, he should not have stood for re-election.

This reflection being already critical, by directly stating that the president of the Board is worn out, it also points to him as the baron who has stuck the most to Pedro Sánchez in this legislature, not like Emiliano García-Pague or Javier Lambán, a position that, in silence, it was commented with astonishment in the socialist ranks, also the high positions, during these years. “He has been wrong in not publicly criticizing some government policies that hurt us.”

And it is that Vara, for example, came to justify near the electoral campaign the pacts of the President of the Government with Bildu. That's as far as his attachment to Sánchez came. And he ended up paying for it at the polls: “We have failed to believe that defending the region in the offices, without making noise, was loyalty,” Gallardo, who has obtained six absolute majorities in Villanueva de la Serena, comments in the interview.. “People have thought that we have bowed to the interests of the party at the national level,” he stresses and emphasizes: “We have clearly failed to present a project that, being good for Extremadura, seemed remote-controlled from other sites. That's not real, but it also has to look like it.”

And finally, he adds: “I am one of those who think that he should have taken a step back. But not for others to take a step forward, but for him to win out of the government. When you win, you have the possibility of offering a more exciting project and a sweeter start”.

VARA'S OPINION

Meanwhile, and after hearing these statements, Guillermo Fernández Vara, has assured this Friday in an interview with Canal Extremadura that he is convinced that Gallardo is not running for his succession: “That is not the intention of Miguel Ángel -Gallardo in any case – or any other partner”. And he added: “I can assure you because we speak almost every day and that is the case,” he reiterated.

Fernández Vara has stated that Gallardo's words have not surprised him and are nothing new. “He has said it internally on several occasions and to me personally,” he said.. “We are a party in which people have an opinion and express it freely and without any intention of doing harm,” added Fernández Vara.

In addition to Gallardo, in the pools for the succession of the Extremaduran baron are the mayor of Mérida, Antonio Rodríguez Osuna, the president of the Assembly, Blanca Martín, or the Minister of Health, José María Vergeles.

The Ombudsman investigates the shipwreck of the boat that left two dead and 34 missing when it was heading to the Canary Islands

The Ombudsman has initiated an ex officio action to request information about the shipwreck of a pneumatic boat that was heading to the Canary Islands in which two immigrants died and another 34 disappeared.

As explained by the institution, the action is carried out both before the Canary Islands Regional Coordination Center of the Coordination Authority Against Irregular Immigration, as well as before the Maritime Rescue and Safety Society (Sasemar).

The Ombudsman requests information on the coordination measures adopted in this regard and the actions carried out during the rescue operation of that pneumatic, in which 60 people were traveling, which was assumed by Morocco, although it was not carried out until after 10 hours of its location, despite the fact that Spain had a Maritime Rescue ship in another operation just an hour away.

Maritime Rescue Explanations

In a statement released this Friday, Maritime Rescue ensures that it has complied with international search and rescue procedures in the pneumatic emergency 40 miles from the African coast. Remember that the incident alert occurred in an area shared between Spain and Morocco, at a point closer to the African coast, 40 miles from Blaya (Morocco) compared to 88 miles away from Gran Canaria, so Rabat expressly assumed coordination and mobilized resources to proceed with the rescue.

Regarding the nearby ship, the Guardamar Calliope, Salvamento points out that it could not go as it was heading to the port after rescuing 63 people, several of whom needed attention due to their condition.

Yolanda Díaz seeks donations for 23-J and promises 3.25% interest to those who lend more than 200 euros to Sumar

Sumar has launched a line of microcredits with which it intends to finance its electoral campaign ahead of the general elections on July 23. And the coalition led by Yolanda Díaz has decided to promote it by promising benefits to its patrons: whoever lends between 200 and 10,000 euros for the project of the second vice president of the Government will receive interest of 3.25%, conditional on the electoral subsidy that depends directly on the result of the polls.

This subsidy has been set for 23-J at 21,167.64 euros for each seat obtained in Congress or the Senate. In addition, each vote is subsidized with 0.81 euros in the Congressional elections, and with 0.32 euros each vote in the Senate ballots. The money is paid into the matches after the proclamation of the final results. Although those who have previous results can request advance payments of up to 90% to cover their campaign.

Following the traditional line of argument of Podemos, Sumar defends that the objective of microcredits is “not to ask banks for money so as not to depend on financial powers”, and they place the remuneration of their 'depositors' at 3.25% to match it at the legal interest rate of money for 2023. The remuneration of these donations has already been carried out by the PSOE before.

On the website enabled for donations, the form offered by Sumar only allows you to choose between fixed amounts: 200 euros, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, 5,000, 6,000, 7,000, 8,000, 9,000 or 10,000. Next, in addition, Yolanda Díaz's coalition presents a box in which the donor can waive receiving interest and accept that “only the amount borrowed” be reimbursed.

In the contract offered by the website, Sumar explains that it will continue to accept donations up to 60 days after 23-J and offers details on the calculation of the 3.25% to be returned to the lenders.

Specifically, it stresses that this accrued interest “will be calculated between the date the amounts were delivered to Sumar by transfer and the date the principal is repaid.”

And anticipate the possible risks of the operation. “The total amount of the loan will be returned to the subscriber after the elections, at the moment in which Sumar collects the legally established electoral subsidy”, advances. But: “In the event that the total subsidy is less than the total amount subscribed on the subscription end date, Sumar will have a period of 12 months after receipt of the subsidy to repay the part not covered by said subsidy “.

The risks of this type of investment were revealed on 28-M with microcredits, for example, from Podemos, which will now have to repay the money lent by its supporters despite having been left without representation in the Madrid Assembly elections or the City Hall of the capital, among other places.

Monchi has no place in the house that he built

Monchi entered the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán anteroom to applause. Then he went to meet him and the president of the Sevilla Football Club, Pepe Castro, hugged him tightly; José María del Nido Junior, vice president, kissed him on the cheek. “How easy it is to love the one who says goodbye!” wrote Walter Benjamin. “Thank you, Monchi” screen printed on all posters. His companions tucking him in. Víctor Orta, his substitute and apprentice, also near the podium.

“You go through the front door and as you deserve: at home,” the president told him, already in front of the buses. “It has been an excessively hard year. We have all had a very bad time and in which, as in all families, we have had our differences, “he added.. “You will always be one of us,” was his epitaph after a lukewarm and brief farewell.

“I keep thinking that this is a nightmare and that someone is going to come pinch me and tell me that it's not real, that I'm not leaving Sevilla,” Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo started, already with tears in his eyes.. the trembling voice. And he warned: “It is not a farewell, but an appearance, to defend my image and my integrity.” Silence swept the space. “I want to look people in the face when I get out of here.” Emotion gave way to restlessness.

“I didn't want to leave Sevilla, because if I'm leaving it's out of respect for this club, I'm not leaving for money,” he clarified. And question time for the media was opened. «I am a special sports director, for better or for worse, if they don't let me be Monchi, I can't contribute. My role has changed, which are things that happen, but in my case, to be fair to myself, I'd rather not be than be like this, “he was released in the responses. He alluded to one of the reasons for his departure. The club's hierarchy has changed, Junior has assumed a leading role, and the sports area has weakened. «I am good at day-to-day management. And for that I need some weapons, which I have always had, but if I no longer have them, I am no longer me».

«There is another idea in the club. Another way of understanding it. Although no one has told me to go away. The decision has been mine,” he insisted. «I wanted to go to San Fernando to rest. Without the pressure of day to day. But Aston Villa excited me. It is a growing project. And there is Unai Emery, who has encouraged me to go ». The pulsations were lowering. Monchi refused to name names or point to the culprits. He swayed in front of the lectern to calm his nerves. He drank water. He was beginning to feel comfortable. He praised Víctor Orta, who looked at him seriously from the audience. “This is not a person, this is much more,” he said, and pointed to his team, to the sports management area, and there his voice broke. «I need to be a reference. When I started in the year 2000, with our resources, I was ready for everything. For the washing machines that broke and to sign a youth. If I stop being an absolute reference, I am another. And I understand it, that the model is changed. But I've been like this for 24 years, and I'm not going to change. The most comfortable, and unfair, would have been to stay.

“Let no one use these words as a battering ram to bring down anything or anyone,” was his conclusion. And a thank you wrapped in applause. The last two Europa League cups as silent witnesses. A new era begins at Sevilla. A club that is more vertical than horizontal, more organic, less emotional. Monchi has no place in the house that he built. It only remains to wait for the sharp verdict of time.

A woman, admitted to the ICU after an accident with a bouncy castle in Malaga

A woman is admitted to the ICU of the Regional Hospital of Malaga after suffering a fall when she was hit by a bouncy castle that moved a few meters due to a gust of wind during an activity organized for the San Juan fair in the town of Malaga of Humilladero.

The accident occurred this Thursday afternoon at the municipality's soccer field, where a municipal subcontractor had installed five bouncy castles in an event aimed at children, as reported to EFE by the mayor of Humilladero, Miguel Ángel Pérez.

At a certain moment, one of the castles, “the heaviest and full of water”, was lifted by “a whirlwind” and moved, in such a way that it pushed a woman, who “fell backwards” and hit on the head, according to the alderman.

None of the children who were on the soccer field at that time suffered injuries as a result of the accident, stressed the mayor, who pointed out that there were more than 100 people in the area at that time.

The impact of the castle “surprised” on a day “when there was neither wind nor was it expected” and bent a metal pole that holds one of the protection nets to stop the balls from the field.

The mayor explained that at the time of the accident, a sports instructor, who is a City Council worker, was at the scene, although the event was organized by a subcontractor who is also in charge of other cultural activities during these festivities and who has his mandatory sure.

For his part, Rafael Serrano, the husband of the injured woman, has reported that after the accident she was “stunned, although conscious” and was taken by ambulance to the Antequera Regional Hospital, where they did a CT scan and decided to evacuate her to the Regional Hospital of Malaga, which has a Neurosurgery unit.

The woman suffered a head injury with internal bleeding and is awaiting new tests in the ICU of the Regional Hospital, according to Serrano, who intends to file a complaint “so that note is taken once and for all of these negligence.”

With this, he hopes that these events “do not happen again”, since he believes that if the castle had hit one of his children, aged 9 and 6, the impact would have been “lethal”..

Podemos insists on the "right to decide" and Sumar confirms that it will include in its program a consultation on "a new fit for Catalonia in Spain"

Yolanda Díaz's claim that Sumar would not be trapped by the always thorny issue of the self-determination referendum in Catalonia has ended up, one month before the general elections, on the list of good intentions that cannot be fulfilled.

The foundations of the program for 23-J drawn up by the political platform led by the second vice president and Minister of Labor of the Government have so far avoided the controversy over a sovereignist consultation as a way to resolve the institutional conflict aggravated during the process. The idea was to drive away, as far as possible, the headaches that the so-called right to decide caused Podemos in its first years of life, which coincided with the peak of the Catalan independence process.

The main lines with which Sumar works stop at more ethereal concepts, such as the “recognition” of the “national plurality” of Spain and a “new territorial contract” with a “federal character”. But it was a matter of days before the proposal that the Catalans vote on their political future beyond the electoral appointments returned like a boomerang. It was because En Comú Podem, Sumar's benchmark in Catalonia, has always defended the suitability of a referendum agreed between the regional and state authorities. And, as confirmed yesterday by his head of the list in Barcelona, Aina Vidal, he will do it again in the face of next month's elections.

The declaration of intent of the commons has forced Sumar to position itself. His campaign spokesman, Ernest Urtasun, has assured today that the new unifying party of the left is “comfortable” with the proposal that Catalonia can “ratify” at the polls “an agreement that arises from the dialogue table” between the Government and the Generalitat, a negotiating forum whose survival will depend on the result of the elections on July 23.

The also MEP for the commons has wanted to settle any hint of friction between the two political spaces regarding an issue that has always aroused controversy within the left: “There will be a shared proposal that will revolve around the idea that an agreement can be ratified in Catalonia “.

In an interview on Radio Nacional de España, Urtasun explained that En Comú Podem “will have its own proposal” on the vote for “a new fit for Catalonia in Spain” and that, later, the coalition promoted by Díaz “will collect it in its electoral program”.

Sumar's spokesman for the general elections has insisted that the idea is not new, since the commons have been proposing it for years, “with the long-term perspective of the referendum”. For this reason, he pointed out: “For the legislature and in the short term, the ratification proposal is something that Sumar is comfortable with and that we are going to defend.”

Colau claims its autonomy

In parallel, the former mayoress of Barcelona and leader of the commons, Ada Colau, has vindicated this morning the autonomy of her training within the new platform, which is why she has her “own program for Catalonia”. “It is one thing to be integrated and the other is that we continue to be the common ones,” he added in an interview on TV3.

In this sense, Colau has maintained that En Comú Podem “has always defended the same thing”, in relation to the party's position regarding the “right to decide”, the application of article 155 of the Constitution, the defense of pardons for leaders of the process or the reform of the Penal Code.

Belarra: Podemos “always” has defended “the right to decide”

Today he also wanted to mark his own profile Podemos. Its general secretary, Ione Belarra, has indicated that the purple formation “always” has supported “the right to decide” and “the recognition of the plurinationality” of Spain.

During an act in Hernani (Guipúzcoa), the Minister for Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda insisted that they will continue to defend their thesis in favor of a referendum: “We may have many defects, but we are where we have always been, regardless of the political cost “.
