Feijóo surrounds himself with historical feminists and receives the "trust" of Amelia Valcárcel in an act of the PP foundation

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, held a closed-door meeting on Tuesday with Amelia Válcarcel, a feminist philosopher traditionally close to the PSOE, the writer Mabel Lozano and the Carlos III professor Montserrat Iglesias to address trafficking and the law trans.

The most commented intervention has been that of Valcárcel, a member of the Council of State from 2006 to 2023, when she was replaced coinciding with her criticism of the trans law. Valcárcel has applauded that the PP supported the PSOE in the counter-reform of the law of only yes is yes “when the PSOE realized to what extent it was creating a monster.”

“You could have let it sink and say 'I'll fix it, release 100 more and lift the sentence for 2,500'. You could have done it and you haven't done it”, congratulated Valcárcel, who has hinted at his support for Feijóo: “It has been great, great honesty on your part. And if only for that reason, I give you my confidence, from now on, that you are capable of making an effective feminist policy, because you have done it in this case”.

The meeting, organized by the PP Reformismo21 foundation, was not on Feijóo's public agenda and took place amid the controversy over the autonomous pacts of the Popular Party with Vox.

The PP has reported on this event in a statement, in which it highlights that Feijóo supports the demands of “classic feminism”, the name with which they distinguish feminists such as Valcárcel, who after being close to the PSOE has publicly questioned equality policies of the Government of Pedro Sánchez.

In this internal seminar under the title “Risks for minors and challenges of feminism: the queer mirage and sexual exploitation”, Feijóo has promised to approve a law against trafficking in women and children, since the PP denounces that the current Government leave yours in a “drawer”.

REJECTION OF THE TRANS LAW

This party details that the three speakers have coincided in pointing out that the law of only yes is yes has meant a “step back” for the defense of women's rights and they have “praised” the role of the PP to modify it after causing the reduction sentences for sexual offenders and the premature release of rapists.

With Feijóo they also share the rejection of the trans law, which the PP has promised to repeal and replace with other regulations aimed at this group.

Specifically, the PP note denounces the “negative effects” of the law on sports, considering that it is a way for “an athlete to participate in women's sports competitions with advantages over their rivals.”

The leader of the PP has also explained to them his objective of controlling the access of minors to porn and curbing the negative impact of social networks.

THE CONTROVERSY OF THE “HARD DIVORCE”

This Tuesday, in which he has not had a public agenda, Feijóo has received criticism from the left for affirming that the Vox candidate for the Valencian Community, Carlos Flores, convicted of psychological violence against his ex-wife in 2002, had had a “hard divorce “.

The PP has explained that its president did not intend to justify sexist violence, but was reproducing the arguments given by those who minimized said condemnation, which did not convince the PP, which vetoed Flores from the negotiation.

Alcaraz suffers against Rinderknech, but goes to the second round at Queen's

After Holger Rune got rid of the whip of the huge Maxime Cressy in two tiebreaks, it was the turn of Carlos Alcaraz's debut on the grass of Queen's. The Dane, second, and the Spaniard, first, head the tournament's seeding list, Alcaraz's only step in preparation for Wimbledon. Called up to face Arthur Fils, he had to play against Arthur Rinderknech, another Frenchman, rescued from the previous phase due to the loss of the intrepid champion in Lyon, who withdrew hours before the game. The grass is a box of bombs. The Spaniard also had to suffer against an opponent with good skills on the surface. He won 4-6, 7-5 and 7-6 (3), in two hours and 33 minutes.

With a short background on grass, this is his third tournament, this was his seventh match, Alcaraz tries to standardize the already accredited strength both on clay and on hard courts. Defeated in the round of 16 of the last edition of Wimbledon by Jannik Sinner, he knows that, without being a specialist, he can be competitive in this unique territory.

Rinderknech, the last Frenchman to say goodbye to Roland Garros, with his loss in the second round against Taylor Fritz, saved three breaking balls in the seventh game with as many winning services. Number 83 in the world, surpassed by Alcaraz in four sets in the second instance of the 2021 United States Open, it was he who opened the gap in the match with a break in the eighth: he won it in white, with a pitiful smash to the net from Spanish. It was of little use to Alcaraz to escape from the first set point, to the rest, and to recover the service. I would lose it again next.

Discomfort

Depersonalized, with obvious signs of discomfort, inaccurate in converting breaking balls, three of 11, Alcaraz could not develop the game that has allowed him to win this year in Indian Wells, Madrid, Barcelona and Buenos Aires, making the final in Rio de Janeiro and semifinals at Roland Garros, where he lost, conditioned by cramps, against Novak Djokovic. It was at the end of the second set when, with a greater point of aggression and more visits to the net, he managed to find a certain fluidity and asserted the only break, in the eleventh game.

The victory required of trade and dedication. He had to come back from a 2-0 down in the third quarter and was forced into a tiebreaker for the resolution. There the hierarchy and determination weighed. The Czech Jiri Lehecka awaits him this Thursday, who beat Alejandro Davidovich in two sets.

“It was my first game this year on grass and he had already played one. It was difficult at first, but I enjoyed every point. It has been a good performance”, commented the Murcian at the foot of the track after the match.

They register several venues linked to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games for irregularities

The controversy surrounds the Olympic Games in Paris when there is little more than a year left for the celebration of this great sporting event. This Tuesday there have been several searches in places linked to the organization of the Games within an investigation into irregularities in public markets.

The searches have been carried out at the headquarters of the organizing committee (Cojo), in Saint-Denis, on the outskirts of Paris, and also at the company that is in charge of building the Olympic infrastructures (Solideo), as well as at other related companies.

The National Financial Prosecutor's Office (PNF) has confirmed to AFP the records, which take place within the framework of two investigations opened in 2017 and 2022 by the French Anti-Corruption Agency on suspicion of conflict of interest and favoritism in public contracts awarded within the framework of the organization.

The 2022 investigation is due to a possible conflict of interest in these awards and is in charge of the financial brigade of the judicial police. The other, which refers to 2017, is for suspicions of embezzlement of public funds, favoritism and cover-up of favoritism. The Central Office for the Fight against Corruption and Financial and Fiscal Offenses is in charge of it.

Solideo, the company in charge of the works of the games, has confirmed the records to the AFP agency and has assured that it is collaborating with the investigators. The French Court of Auditors closely follows the activity of the Organizing Committee, since a few months ago they already expressed their concern about the increase in the cost of its celebration and the impact on public finances. The cost now amounts to more than 4,300 million euros.

The controversy surrounds these games for months. Just a few weeks ago, the president of the French Olympic Committee, Brigitte Henriques, resigned due to rivalries and internal conflicts within this body. In addition, there have been reports that some of the companies in charge of the construction of the Games are employing workers without papers in order to speed up the work.

Aragon confirms an outbreak of tuberculosis

The Ministry of Health of the Government of Aragon has confirmed a case of tuberculosis detected in the health sector of Calatayud (Zaragoza). In this way, he responds to the comments that have circulated in the area in recent days about a possible outbreak of tuberculosis.

The infected person arrived at the Ernest Lluch Hospital in Calatayud last Friday accompanied by a relative and, due to coughing and the symptoms of the disease, was transferred to the Miguel Servet Hospital in Zaragoza to be treated in the Infectious Diseases section.

Once the case was detected, a study and screening of the contacts with the affected person, who is admitted to said hospital in the Aragonese capital, has begun, so that more infections are not ruled out in the near future.

Likewise, the usual protocol for this disease has been implemented, which last year registered 108 infections in Aragon.

The case of Calatayud would be one of the three included in the Epidemiological Bulletin of Aragon corresponding to the week of June 5 to 11, two of them registered in the province of Zaragoza.

Despite the World Health Organization's goal of eliminating tuberculosis by 2030, it continues to be a public health problem.

Globally, it is considered the 13th leading cause of death and the deadliest infectious disease behind COVID-19.

In Spain, tuberculosis is included as a Notifiable Disease. In Aragon, in 2022, 108 cases were reported, 8.14 per 100,000 inhabitants, maintaining the downward trend. Thus, for example, in 2008, 280 cases were registered.

Of the cases last year, 74 were categorized as pulmonary tuberculosis and one as tuberculous meningitis.. 61.1% were in men and the average age of those affected was slightly over 46 years.

Likewise, throughout 2022, nine deaths were declared in people diagnosed with tuberculosis, with other concomitant diseases.

According to Health, a challenge that arises in the fight against this disease is resistance to first-line treatment. Thus, in Aragon, 18 cases were resistant to some anti-TB drug, 15 in Zaragoza, one in Huesca and two in Teruel, and one of them with a multi-resistant pattern.

The PSOE rejects the debate to three that Feijóo proposes and that Yolanda Díaz supports

The Popular Party has transferred this Tuesday to the PSOE that it accepts a face-to-face with Pedro Sánchez that could be expanded by including Yolanda Díaz in a three-way debate. This option, however, would border the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal. An offer that the PSOE has quickly rejected by defining it as a “provocation”, but which has been accepted by Díaz.

The proposal has been transmitted by Esteban González Pons, vice-secretary of Institutional Action of the PP, to Santos Cerdán, secretary of Socialist Organization, through a letter in which he proposes, PP sources explain, to debate in a face-to-face “with the member of the government coalition determined by the PSOE and the brand that inherits the representation in the Executive that the socialists agreed with Podemos at the time”.

In other words, the PP urges the government alliance to agree and choose a representative for the debate with Feijóo, who in the PP understand that it would be either Pedro Sánchez, or Yolanda Díaz, second vice president and leader of the new left-wing space Sumar. Díaz should “delegate” his representation to Sánchez for the celebration of a “two-way” debate between the opposition leader and the Prime Minister.

In the event that an agreement is not reached within the Executive, the PP offers to replace the face-to-face with a “three-way debate”, with the presence of both leaders and the leader of the opposition. This scenario would leave out Santiago Abascal, president of Vox, the third party in the last general elections.

Abascal would be included in the other debate in which the PP is willing to participate in this campaign “with the rest of the political forces”, including those with which the PSOE and Unidas Podemos have achieved the parliamentary majority in which they have supported the legislature, that is, in EH Bildu, ERC and the PNV.

“Given the prominence that these three political forces have held throughout the legislature, excluding them now would be to deceive citizens about what they actually vote for.. There are seven parts that this other debate must have if it is to be plural, representative and guide what may happen in the next parliament”, Pons writes to Cerdán about the presence of these formations.

Ferraz: Feijóo looks for “pretexts”

The proposal has been flatly rejected from the socialist ranks after a few minutes under the argument that the words of the PP represent a “provocation” that goes beyond the powers of the parties when deciding on the debates.

“It is not the PP who determines the debates, it is the convening communication groups,” socialist sources explain in this regard. “And the groups have requested face-to-face debates between Sánchez and Feijóo and debates with four, with the four national formations”, that is, PSOE, PP, Vox and Sumar. The PSOE has accepted all these debates, which is why in Ferraz they consider that Feijóo is looking for “pretexts” to avoid debating with Sánchez.

From Sumar, however, it is seen with good eyes to include Yolanda Díaz in the debates between the main political leaders. “A three-way debate is more like today's Spain than the old bipartisanship,” they say in Sumar, where they support leaving Santiago Abascal aside for this debate.

Rafa Benítez finalizes his return to the League as coach and pillar of the Celta project

Rafa Benítez finalizes his return to LaLiga, specifically to the bench of Celta de Vigo. The conversations with the Galician club, which celebrates its centenary this 2023, are “very on track” and his signing could be announced throughout this week. The coach would lead the Spanish competition again eight years after he spent six months in charge of Real Madrid in 2015 and when 19 have passed since his departure from Valencia after winning the League and UEFA Cup double in 2004.

The key to the arrival of Benítez in Vigo is held by Luis Campos. The Portuguese, Celta and PSG sports adviser, first convinced Carlos Mouriño that the path to growth lay in signing a top-level coach after unsuccessfully trying to negotiate with Andoni Iraola and testing Marcelo Gallardo. The commitment to Carvahal did not go as expected with an agonizing permanence that made the project rethink.

The idea that Celta has transmitted to the Madrid coach's environment is that there is an ambitious growth plan led by top-level professionals and where the coach will participate. A path similar to that undertaken by Betis with Manuel Pellegrini or even Villarreal with Unai Emery in the last stage, which has led these clubs to win titles such as the Copa del Rey and to have a continuous presence in Europe.. “Without taking your feet off the ground,” sources from the environment warn, that is the mirror in which a classic LaLiga team looks.

The conditions that Benítez had set to sit on a bench again were explained in an interview with El Mundo last February. “My priority is to be able to be in a team in the Premier, in Spain, in Italy, Germany or France, the strongest leagues. But the projects that I would like are those in which you can work, develop the youth team and get performance from a medium-high level team to take it one step further.. It is what we did in Liverpool, in Naples or in Valencia. For that you need to be backed and supported not only financially, but at a structural level”. What Luis Campos and Carlos Mouriño have told him they want to do with Celta fits perfectly into this idea.

Working with stability and patience is something that the Madrid native values a lot. So much so that since his time at Everton ended with a bad taste in his mouth on June 22, he has received “between 18 and 20 offers”, including from Mexico, Asia or the Middle East that have not convinced him and have returned to appear at the end of this season. “But we have earned the right to decide. We do more in-depth analysis and, although there have been some interesting ones, they had a high risk that I don't need to assume,” he said.. Some contact with West Ham in recent weeks and the vacancy on the Napoli bench, already covered by Rudy García, were other options that have not materialized. To return to LaLiga, he had the option to do it to Sevilla after the dismissal of Julen Lopetegui, but it did not materialize.

Celta is now an appetizing project due to the opportunity that construction entails and the intention that the club has to take advantage of the year of its centenary. Benítez brings the knowledge he has never lost of LaLiga to an environment where he feels comfortable. Not surprisingly, Galicia has been his summer resort for years due to the family ties his wife has with Ourense.

The future of Gabri Veiga

One of the pillars of the project should be Gabri Veiga, but the youth squad's future is up in the air. The 40 million termination clause keeps him at Celta while he plays the European Under-21, but Liverpool and Chelsea have already set their sights on a footballer who has changed representatives in recent weeks to join Pini Zahavi.

If he stays, Celta would keep a growing player. But the option for him to leave should not be an impediment for the new project, which could be rearmed with the 40 million that it would leave in the Celtic box. Reconstruction is Benítez's specialty: he did it in Valencia, making Liverpool Spanish and taking advantage of the sale of Cavani in Naples to attract Higuaín or Callejon, who gave a great performance.

Costa against Camps: 'El Bigotes' worked for the Valencian government "by decision of the president"

Former secretary general of the Valencian PP Ricardo Costa has testified this morning in the trial on the award to the Gürtel plot of a tender by the Government of Francisco Camps, who sits on the bench.

The Anti-Corruption interrogation has focused on trying to determine the type of relationship between the former president of the Valencian Community and Álvaro Pérez, the man behind the corrupt plot in Valencia. Costa has aligned himself with the thesis put forth by Bigotes in his statement as a defendant, in which he maintained that he had a good personal relationship with Camps and that it had been the former president who had insisted that he move to Valencia to work more. together.

“Yes, I have evidence from Mr. Pérez himself and also from other people that he worked with the party and with the government by decision of the president,” Costa said.. “I attest to the acts of the party, because Camps said 'I would like Álvaro to do this, I would like Álvaro to do it'”, added Costa.

“Was the relationship between Camps and Álvaro Pérez a relationship of trust and friendship?” Asked the prosecutor in the case. “I would define it as you have just described it […]. It is palpable that there was not only a personal, cordial, and friendly relationship. It was not a cold relationship and he also had a fairly fluid relationship with Mr. Camps's wife. In fact, I went with Mr. Pérez to the Camps woman's pharmacy to say hello.”

The witness explained that Bigotes had access to the Palace of the Generalitat. “He had access to many people from the administration, such as several consecutive vice presidents, apart from Camps himself and other advisers. There was an access with direct private telephones of course”.

The trial focuses on the award of a Fitur stand to Orange Market, one of the companies in the Gürtel plot. According to the Anti-Corruption indictment, Camps was behind this being the beneficiary company, which justifies the request for two and a half years in prison for the former regional president.

Costa has declared that he has “no doubt” that Camps was aware that it was Orange Market that had been organizing that event for years. But he has not been resounding about whether the president gave indications that Orange Market should be the winner. Nor with respect to other awards to the Gürtel company such as the broadcast of the Pope's visit or the Tennis Open. “Ugh, I can't…. I have never been part of the Government and I do not know what procedures were followed”.

He added that when he proposed that another company work for the party, the then vice-president Víctor Campos replied that “the instructions” he had were “that the party's acts be carried out by Álvaro Pérez.”

Costa was sentenced to four years in prison in the trial for the illegal financing of the Valencian PP. Upon reaching his statement by videoconference aided by a crutch, Costa recalled his decision to “tell the truth” when his “family situation” allowed him to.. In the financing trial, Costa has already implicated the former president.

Costa did not go to prison because his sentence was replaced by a fine. The former counselor Milagrosa Martínez did go to jail, who also appeared this Tuesday as a witness in the trial against Francisco Camps.
