Sánchez seeks the comeback with a final sprint in eight provinces where the seat is worth double

In the PSOE, they want to convey that there is a party. A margin for the comeback five days after the general elections of 23-J that they not only feed by appealing to the epic, that of a Sánchez who has always won “against all odds”, but also by changing his strategy in the final stretch of the campaign to focus on eight specific constituencies. Those in which, according to their surveys, they can scratch deputies from the right-wing bloc by depending on a handful of votes. A seat that is worth double when it changes hands, since it is subtracted from the right and added to the left. While the Socialists “absolutely” trust that they can turn the blocks around if they win between seven and eight seats on the right in these territories that they have “located”, Alberto Núñez Feijóo warned this Tuesday in an interview on Antena 3 that if the conservative vote is not concentrated in the PP, “there is a risk that it will not join and that we will return to sanchismo”.

Last Sunday night, the PSOE campaign management turned the strategy focused almost exclusively on the sets, without party acts, and opted to improvise rallies of its candidate in Huesca and San Sebastián. For going to fight those seats at stake by moving to the territory. Palm to palm. On Thursday it will be Lugo's turn and it is left up in the air to add another appointment to the closing of the campaign in Getafe (Madrid) to do a double with an act that morning. All this, at the cost of amputating Pedro Sánchez's international agenda, as well as an “overexertion”. This was how the head of the Executive himself described the decision that led him to travel from Brussels to Huesca, by private plane, to participate for just 20 minutes in a rally and return again as soon as he finished his speech with the aim of participating up to date following on the second day of the EU-Celac summit.

The President of the Government and PSOE candidate for re-election sacrificed on Monday the gala dinner with the Heads of State and Government offered by the President of the European Council. This Tuesday, to attend the meeting in San Sebastián. Missed joint post-summit press conference. He was scheduled to appear together with the president of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen; the President of the Council, Charles Michel; the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, and the prime minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and rotating president of Celac, Ralph Gonsalves. He canceled both commitments at the last moment..

All this, with Spain holding the rotating presidency of the EU and with Sánchez having been personally involved in the preparation of this summit, as it is the first and most important event of the European semester.. The presence of the presidents of Brazil and Colombia, who kept their attendance on the air, was largely due to their efforts, preventing the event from being overshadowed. From the PP, they reacted by describing his absences as “an irresponsibility that compromises the role and Spanish image in the EU and in the world” and criticizing that he puts “his electoral urgency before his obligations”.

The care with which Sánchez prepared the European semester and this event, as well as his worked international profile during the last five years, was left in the background by a rally in Huesca and another in San Sebastián. Some priorities that account for how the Socialists seek to throw in the rest and are confident that their options for a comeback have to do with the double seat of a total of eight small and medium-sized constituencies. Some more, as explained in Ferraz, if they expand the perimeter from a few tens of votes to which a deputy with the PP is already at stake for a few hundred ballots.

The deputies who are “very close” to getting, according to the same sources, and those who qualify as possible. According to the fourth and last IMOP-Insights survey for El Confidencial, the Socialists are also fighting for seats with the right in Burgos, León, Soria, Pontevedra, A Coruña and La Rioja. In addition to large constituencies such as Madrid and Barcelona.

The irruption of the rallies in a campaign initially designed only with sets is complemented by the careful and economically expensive strategy in social networks. Through segmented advertising to the voters of these constituencies. Several of them in Andalusia, but also in Castilla y León and Galicia. The software called Tesela, in which the PSOE has invested 600,000 euros, allows it to identify potential voters and bombard them with specific propaganda to try to mobilize them. A key digital tool in your advertising planning for 23-J.

The margin of recovery of the Socialists is mainly focused on the useful vote. By growing at the expense of Sumar, therefore, it will be difficult for the balance between the two blocks to change substantially.. The latest polls published up to the date allowed by the electoral law coincide in concluding that there are hardly any movements between blocks. However, in the PSOE they believe it is possible to close the gap with the PP and, at the same time, for Díaz's party to ensure third place against Vox.

Each formation fulfills its role and PSOE and Sumar have decided to draw up a complementary strategy. Electoral tandem between Sánchez and Díaz, who denies the option of monocolor governments. This progressive or conservative coalition between Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Santiago Abascal. In the territories, the majority of barons question the tandem with the vice president, considering it counterproductive, precisely because they understand that their options to grow are for the space on their left. First, concentrate the progressive vote on its initials and, after 23-J, the numbers for a hypothetical investiture will already be seen.

The maximum in the PSOE engine room is to stop the transfer to the PP of voters who supported them in 2019. Some 700,000, according to the IMOP-Insights survey for El Confidencial, which has been rocky throughout the demoscopic series. If it is not stopped, from the PSOE they will aspire to at least a tie in the form of an electoral repetition, if the sum of PP and Vox does not exceed that of PSOE and Sumar together with the nationalist bloc.

Debate to three, without Feijóo

In Ferraz, they conceive tonight's electoral debate on RTVE between the candidates of the four major parties almost as a formality, which will be three due to the absence of Alberto Núñez Feijóo. One more audiovisual space, like the television interviews on which they focused the design of this atypical campaign, to establish their message before “the maximum audience”. With the only difference that they will be able to confront their project directly with “the far-right model”. With Santiago Abascal, the “de facto vice president” of Feijóo, who would assume the representation of the right-wing block.

In the team of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, they also lower the expectations of the debate. They avoid placing great hopes in this, without attributing the possibility of becoming the expected coup during the final stretch of the campaign to turn the polls around. Of course, they say they do not downplay it and point out that the President of the Government and the PSOE candidate for re-election “will prepare it well”. The management of expectations in the face-to-face debate played a trick on them, which they now want to avoid with the three-way debate.

The approach goes through attacking Feijóo, even through Abascal, by framing him as his necessary partner. The Socialists deny the option of monocolor governments after 23-J, and assume that the leader of Vox will speak for both him and Feijóo. At the same time, Sánchez will seek to show cohesion with Yolanda Díaz, the leader of Sumar, with whom the Socialists aspire to re-edit a progressive coalition. Harmony, based on the evidence that they are two different parties, but with the conviction that they would govern with less noise and more facilities than with United We Can leading this space. Tonight's debate will be used as another opportunity to “contrast models” and address “large audiences”, but the battle of the Socialists has turned towards a final battle inch by inch in constituencies identified as strategic.

Yolanda and ZP's tantra to destabilize Abascal

The online community has been in shock since a (disturbingly) smiling Yolanda Díaz posted a video with this message: “Hello, we are here on the train”. And that's it. Indeed, Yolanda was not lying, she was going by train (specifically, the one that covers the route Malasaña-Mundos de Yupi).

It is more complex to know what Yolanda intends with a campaign in which a) she always speaks in a flute-like voice (as if she were addressing a not very clever six-year-old boy), b) her rallies advertise WATERMELONS and c) her electoral posters They look like the new single from Mocedades: It's for you. One expects from Yolanda the assertiveness of Frank Sobotka, The Wire's dockers unionist, but what we have is Yolanda with the voice of helium.. De Sobotka and Amélie.

What do we know about this picturesque phenomenon? We know that the moderate/radical tension affects all parties, that Errejón was the podemite prophet of empty signifiers and ideological emptiness, and that a balance between moderation in forms/radical content is a greedy temptation.

But cuqui yolandism is having a hard time taking off. Maybe because, in a campaign monopolized by sanchism and anti-sanchism, standing up to PSOE is like standing up to the sun of Almería without cream (probable finding).

We all understand the logic of not being scary, but being scared by going too moderate also has its. A disturbing thesis floats in the air: what if Yolanda is not Yolanda because she has been abducted by an extraterrestrial community of hippies from the planet Bongo? What if the bongueses want to impose free love, the 2030 Agenda and the paleo diet on Spain? What would you do without your daily ribeye, eh, what would you do?

Laugh, but even Zapatero, who has turned this campaign into the radical hammer of the left (which is said soon), shows signs of having fallen into a New Age black hole.. ZP said it on Monday at a rally: “Infinity is infinity; the universe is infinite…. most likely. It does not fit in our head to imagine what infinity is like.. We belong to a planet, Earth, and to a species that is absolutely exceptional, that does not exist anywhere in the Universe, from which we cannot even imagine the distances…. We are the only place in the Universe, in the Whole, if we can conceive of the Whole, where you can read a book and love.”.

Shoemaker, finally, is in orbit.

Indeed, while the campaign was getting muddy, Zapatero raised the bar to infinity and beyond. About us? Where we come from? Where we go? And above all: who does Zapatero buy joints from? If Sánchez promised the Spaniards an open bar of those joints, wouldn't he get 400 seats? Yes, friends, after ZP put the electoral focus on Ganymede, the Spanish are no longer divided between leftists and rightists, but between metaphysicians and mystics. Are there garden gnomes on Pluto? Is it true that on Saturn there is a beach with 200 giant Zapatero heads? Is Emperor Palpatine a Vox voter? We want to know.

According to Wikipedia, a “planetary nebula is a glowing, expanding envelope of plasma and ionized gas,” but, as of today, a planetary nebula is what comes out of José Luis Skywalker Zapatero's mouth..

Thus spoke Zapatustra.

It is increasingly clear, in short, that the left has a hidden hipster agenda (that of the planet Bongo) that is going to detonate in the three-way debate with Vox.. as follows:

Start the discussion. Abascal charges hard against immigrants and feminists. Yolanda and Pedro look at him with a condescending smile, approach him (to the confusion of the Vox leader), put a hand on each shoulder and say:

Pedro: Santiago, is everything okay at home and at work?

Abscal: How?

Yolanda. Have you tried Tibetan chants to control your temper?

Abascal: Who? Is it me?

Peter: And anoint yourself with patchouli in English?

[Abascal faints, Yolanda and Pedro play the bongos frantically and sing on loop BONGO BONGO OOOOOM. The set levitates and a cosmic ray abducts them all to the planet Bongo].

On election day, a spaceship lands in Madrid, Santiago, Pedro and Yolanda come down doing a conga and impose a polyamorous and vegan regime on all of Spain. Feijóo returns to the village, becomes a fisherman and thinks about what happened: “Maybe it wasn't a good idea to skip the debate. Or maybe it was…”.

Does lying have an electoral cost?

turn for messengers. Carlos Alsina's question to Pedro Sánchez, “why do you lie so much, president?”, has had the unexpected effects of a cluster bomb. With special prominence of the media establishment which, after all, is the best sounding board for political debate.

The messengers have turned the final stretch of the campaign into a contest of demerits between the incumbent Sánchez and the candidate Núñez Feijóo about who lies more and better. With exchangeable result at the polls on Sunday.

I am afraid from the outset that, if the defense of the “change of position” is not worth it, the “inaccuracy” of the data handled will not be worth it either.. After all, the two burladeros are part of the processes of deformation of the truth. This is where both the “anti-fascist alert” of the left and the “vote you Txapote” of the right fit..

The polls also fit, creators of artificial states of opinion. Let's see the ones that are circulating on the eve of election day. They are so different, so shockingly disparate, and so shockingly the same with those who order them, that one of the two scenarios available in the demoscopic field is consciously lying to us..

These reality-distorting processes are, in my opinion, inherent to political discourse, which should be a noble task of service to others, but in fact it is carried out as an impostor's trade. Not professionalized, in the Albert Boadella way (imposture is a rewarded merit in the case of actors), but with the clumsiness of amateurs.

In truth, in this singular sack race, the President of the Government has a great advantage over the leader of the PP, although that would already be discounted in the polls.. What is new is the media accusation of Feijóo (from Carlos Alsina to Silvia Intxaurrondo and I shoot because it's my turn) as a good competitor of Sánchez in the art of lying, against his initial anti-Sanchista refrain: “In politics, you are there so that the truth defeats the lie.

While I am caressed by the violin music that this phrase from the leader of the PP demands, I maintain that the lie has no electoral cost because it has been normalized in the future of Spanish politics. It must be analyzed as an isolated ingredient in the analysis of public discourse.. And if we could do it, we would discover that its impact at the polls would be neutral on the respective electoral billing of the different candidacies.. Because the lies of the block on the right compensate those of the block on the left, as well as the respective successes and errors.

Ergo, zero electoral cost after a campaign debased by the trivialization of lies, insults and artificial climates of opinion. And because, as Muñoz Molina says in a highly commented article (“The era of vileness”), trivialization blocks critical awareness in the face of insidiousness and the usual exchange of poisonous stones in the struggle for power. Too bad that the signer of this excellent article only detects those that go in one direction.

All the precautions are few to prevent the strongly contaminating idea of the Spain of good people in a state of permanent alert against the Spain of bad people from slipping into the keyboard of the opinion maker.

What is moving while Feijóo sits down to read the 'Marca', like Rajoy

The moment in which the parties arrive at the debate marks it deeply. This is always the case, because moments are decisive, but more so in this one, which seems to have been considered as the losers' debate. The polls do not doubt that the popular will win the elections (except for the CIS), and analysts debate between attributing a substantial victory for Feijóo, around 150-160, or a more moderate one, around 140. The rest, that is, the three great national parties, attend in an emergency situation. Except for the absent one, who moves rocked by an inertia whose destination seems to be the Moncloa, all the others need to gain space and this is their last chance.

It is curious that this is the minute and result of the campaign, because Feijóo has done nothing but make mistakes in it, with the crucial exception, that of the two-way debate. It sounded like a winning blow: the Socialists, in the previous weeks, had begun to generate the perception that the result had not been decided, and that it had started. The disappointment suffered by the left that night stopped that comeback in its tracks.

a new framework

Today's debate moves in a different framework: it is no longer so much about encouraging his supporters from the possibility of victory, but rather mobilizing them in the face of the consequences of defeat; It is about showing the great dangers that would lie in wait if the PP and Vox governed together, which is the message that will go through, expressly but also implicitly, the television broadcast. The left will try to convey to their own the sense of urgency and necessity. The other part of the strategy consists in making people believe that, even with a limited number of left seats, around 150, it would be possible to govern.

On the other hand, the absence of a Feijóo who decided a long time ago that the best move was to stay still, offers an ideal starting framework for Abascal: he is the only representative of the right against sanchismo. He has an advantage in this solitude, since he depends on himself: if he knows how to play his tricks, he will be able to get a good handful of votes from the PP. It can also be turned against him: if he fails, he will give away voters to the PP.

It should be noted, in this regard, the curious way in which Vox reaches the last week. The surveys offer a provisional result according to which Vox is below the level of acceptance of the previous general ones, and in some of them well below. However, Vox has around 14.5% of the vote, which is only 0.7% less than four years ago.. In other words, the D'Hondt law penalizes him a lot, and if he regains momentum today, the translation of votes into seats could be very different.

The party that most touched arrives is Sumar. Díaz will need to do in a few hours what he has not done throughout the campaign, differentiate himself and gain ground. Díaz's formation had to have reached where Sánchez could not; I had to expand spaces, especially on the left. Not only has it not succeeded, but its space has been reduced towards loyal voters. Tonight he needs to show that he is something else, that he has a differentiated and attractive profile that complicates the trend towards useful voting so much. It is a complicated task in many ways, but more so when Díaz's excessive aggressiveness towards the PSOE would be perceived as a mistake..

The change of strategy

Contrary to what one might think, the debate has its interest, precisely because of the moment it arrives, the end of the campaign. Sánchez decided to leave the EU summit with Celac early to attend a meeting in Huesca and yesterday he was not in the final declaration to participate in another meeting in San Sebastián. That campaign inch by inch of the Socialists, which perhaps should have been drawn before, is appearing in the final stretch, and is concentrating on the territories in which some deputy can change sign. The last seat of a fortnight of province will be key to the final map, and all the formations are concentrating on winning that last millimeter to their side. Regardless of the topics that appear tonight, that some specific message in this sense should appear referring to those territories, it will be the impression that is caused, the level of activation and mood, or discomfort and frizz, which will have a role. in these final days.

We will have to be especially attentive to the space on the right. Anything that is not a victory for the PP would be a notable surprise, but it remains to be decided what the final balance will be within the space, and what weight Vox will have. The debate has its risks for the PP: Feijóo can lose on both sides by not being present, since the left can activate a percentage of undecided voters, those concerned about a PP-Vox government, but Abascal can also steal their vote if succeed with your strategy. By taking a right-wing victory for granted, voting for Vox is no longer perceived as useless; that is to say, it would serve the same for Feijóo to govern, but accompanied by a counterweight to avoid positions of weakness against the left. And there are a number of neighboring voters who can choose tonight, depending on the image that Abascal offers.

In the same way, Feijóo can win on both sides without lifting a single finger.. If the debate is unsatisfactory, if the contestants are not correct with their approaches, if it becomes somewhat cumbersome or too bitter, the PP leader would emerge victorious sitting in front of the television because, effectively, it would become the losers' debate. Feijóo has opted for the Rajoy option, that of winning due to the mistakes of the opponents, that of sitting down to read the Marca while waiting for other people's failures.

There is not little that remains to be decided in these elections. And more when the atmosphere is strange. The date of the elections, the absence of real political debate and the permanent polarization, and the high number of undecided, especially within the blocs, suggest that there is much to be resolved. It is true that the numbers from the surveys are conclusive, but also that the demoscopes themselves have doubts, because they do not see the final map clearly drawn. In this scenario, the air of last chance pervades the debate.

A gang linked to Dominican Don't Play dedicated to arms trafficking and 'overturns' pretending to be police falls

Agents of the National Police have dismantled a criminal group in Madrid allegedly dedicated to arms trafficking and linked to the activity of organized and violent youth groups belonging to the Dominican Don't Play (DDP), reported this Tuesday in a note press the General Directorate of Police.

The operation is part of the increase in activity, both preventive and investigative, carried out by the National Police in order to detect and cut off illegal channels for the illegal distribution of firearms, as well as to intercept possible weapons deposits already existing in the context of the criminal operation of the aforementioned organized and violent youth groups.

The investigation began when the agents of the General Information Police Station and the Provincial Information Brigade of Madrid became aware of the illegal activity of a criminal group dedicated to the storage and trafficking of arms, and linked to the DDP..

After the pertinent investigation, directed by the Investigating Court number 32 of Madrid, last Tuesday the exploitation of the operation was carried out through the entry and search of four buildings in the Valdebebas neighborhood of the capital: two houses, a storage room and a local.

Two people from the 'choir' of Campamento and Alcobendas were arrested for their alleged participation in the crimes of illegal possession and trafficking of prohibited firearms and illegal possession of ammunition; drug trafficking; money laundering and belonging to a criminal group.

In addition, a woman has been investigated for collaboration with the crimes of drug trafficking, money laundering and belonging to a criminal group.

seized material

In the searches carried out, the agents intervened two pistol-type short weapons -one of them with the reference numbers erased-, an assault rifle-type long weapon and a shotgun-type long weapon, with the barrels cut out. Some were simulated and the rest operational and all of them were sold to members of the band.

In addition, a large amount of ammunition, cash, documentation that links the arrested with their membership in the DDP's and various narcotic substances was located.. And it is that the storage room kept tools to prepare an indoor marijuana plantation, sources of the investigation have informed Europa Press.

Likewise, various objects were seized that link those arrested with the commission of “overturns” or “falls” against other rival gangs such as ballistic vests, tactical clothing, metallic copies of emblem plates, priority light devices or radio telecommunication systems, all of them similar to those habitually used by the Security Forces and Corps.

The detainees are veteran gang members who belong to these factions of the Dominicans in Campamento and Alcobendas, responsible for the crime of Sailen, shot to death in October at the exit of a nightclub in Fuenlabrada. And that of William, a 15-year-old boy related to the rival gang of the Trinitarios who was shot in a park in Villaverde last December..

Arrested in Ibiza a man accused of recording a minor and her grandmother naked when they went to shower

The National Police has arrested a man in Ibiza who, allegedly, recorded a minor and her grandmother, with whom she occasionally shared a house, who were naked in a room before taking a shower.

The events happened this Saturday inside the aforementioned house, when this individual, of Colombian origin, secretly recorded a grandmother and her granddaughter, as indicated by the Police in a statement.. The minor realized what was happening and alerted the grandmother, who reproached the man for his attitude. Initially, he denied the facts in the face of the grandmother's threat to call the police.

Once at the home, the National Police agents collected the testimony of the victims, and the man finally acknowledged what had happened and audiovisual evidence was found that corroborated the possible crime..

For all these reasons, on Sunday at 05:00 a.m., the agents proceeded to arrest the man as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of child pornography and against privacy.. Once the proceedings at the Ibiza Police Station were completed, he was brought before the courts.

The trial of the porn film producer Torbe will finally take place on September 25, 2023

The Criminal Court number 27 of Madrid has indicated for the next September 25 the start of the trial of the actor and producer of porn films Ignacio Allende, Torbe, accused of distribution and possession of child pornography, after the parties have not arrived to an agreement on penalties.

The magistrate has set this date after having brought together the parties to the case up to two times, the first on July 10, when the trial was scheduled to begin, and the second on Tuesday.

The objective was to assess a possible agreement between the three defendants and the Prosecutor's Office, or reformulate the script of the future trial, to expedite it.

After not reaching an agreement, the magistrate has finally indicated the start of the trial for September 25, 2023, sources from the Superior Court of Justice (TSJM) have confirmed to EFE.

These sources have specified that a first session is set for that day with the previous issues, and the development of the trial will be determined at that time..

On the other hand, legal sources have detailed to EFE that it is possible that Torbe and one of the other two defendants, Francisco José ML, do reach an agreement with the Prosecutor's Office, so that they would acknowledge the facts to see their sentences reduced, although this is yet to be confirmed.

In its provisional conclusions, the Prosecutor's Office requests seven years and seven months in prison for the porn film producer for allegedly distributing child pornography of two minors whom he recorded.

It also requests three years in prison for José Carlos PR, accused of distribution of child pornography, and also requested one year for Francisco José ML, for possession, although in this last session it has reduced the penalty request to a fine.

For its part, the popular accusation, exercised by the lawyer Manuel Merino on behalf of the National Association of People Affected by the Internet and New Technologies (Anfitec), requests eight years in prison for Torbe and two years for Francisco José ML.

The facts date back to October 21, 2015, when, according to the Prosecutor's Office, Torbe received a message from a young woman who, after stating that she was of legal age, offered to make videos because she wanted to be a porn actress and even recorded one, although he did not want his face to be seen.

Torbe and the young woman met again to record more sex scenes with another woman and the producer, a follower of Athletic Bilbao, asked the girl to put on the team's shirt and while exclaiming “Aúpa Athletic” to show her chest .

A month later, the young woman phoned Torbe to warn him that said video, sent without his consent, had gone viral and that he had not yet turned 18, and the producer removed the images from his website..

But Torbe sent photos and videos to Francisco José ML without his consent, who stored them on his computer, always according to the account in the indictment of the Prosecutor's Office.

The Prosecutor's Office states that, in addition, in 2012, the producer also contacted a young Romanian woman who told him that she was of legal age, they recorded porn videos and then the girl told him that she was a minor, so she waited until she was 18 to publish. the images.

Add ugly to the PSOE that spends 500,000 euros in "bombing" with propaganda in networks

Sumar makes a difference with the PSOE and makes it ugly that it uses “more than half a million euros” in tools to “bomb users of social networks”. In the final stretch of the campaign, with the parties throwing in the rest to scratch votes through all available channels, Yolanda Díaz's party echoed the information published by El Confidencial to make visible the inequality of weapons in her battle with the PP and the PSOE. As this medium has revealed, the Socialist Party has dedicated 600,000 euros to software that helps identify specific segments of the population, and then send them an avalanche of messages and thus mobilize them.

The confluence to the left of the PSOE, which has already raised three million euros in microcredits -its final objective- to pay for part of its electoral campaign, alludes to this tool in a message sent to its registered. “Today we have learned that PP and PSOE spend hundreds of thousands of euros on digital advertising. For example, the PSOE has spent more than half a million euros on software to bombard users of social networks,” reads the text..

Díaz's formation thus demands “help” to obtain the necessary financing “to reach every Instagram, Twitter, Facebook account… to every screen in our country”. “In Sumar we do not have the resources of the big parties, but we have the strength and collaboration of thousands of hard-working and committed people like you,” they abound..

Since the campaign began, emails to encourage donations have been common, sometimes almost daily. “If you and thousands of people contribute so that proposals like this reach those who are waiting for them, we can exceed all expectations in this last week of the campaign

A 56-year-old man dies after leaving the road and overturning the truck he was driving in Murillo de Cuende (Navarra)

The European Commission "categorically" denies that Von der Leyen criticized Feijóo after a meeting

The publication of an opinion article in El País that ensures that the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, criticized Feijóo with his team has raised a significant amount of dust in said body. Dana Spinant, one of the two main spokespersons for the European Commission, published a message on social networks on Tuesday stating that the Community Executive was never asked for a reaction on said information.. “We categorically deny any statement attributed to President von der Leyen in this article,” Spinant wrote.. But the European Commission has come out to deny these facts, with the consequent reaction from senior management in Genoa. The popular charges directly against the PSOE, which they accuse of spreading the “hoax” of the alleged criticism of the president of the Commission against the leader of the PP. One of them has been the president of the Senate, Ander Gil, who compared the information with the good treatment between Von der Leyen and Sánchez in the middle of the campaign. “You choose”, added the socialist.

“Either rectify immediately, or it should be terminated in a sudden way. The fourth authority of the State cannot lie like this. Respect the position you hold a little,” wrote the PP spokesman in the Senate, Javier Maroto, for example.. Other leaders from Genoa joined the criticism, such as Esteban González Pons or Dolors Montserrat. “The president of the Senate, like so many other PSOE officials, have lied (…). They are desperate and nervous, but not everything goes”, pointed out the MEP.

It is not usual for the European Commission to “categorically” deny information. He tends to always be tactful, avoiding replying to the numerous pieces of information that are linked to the Community Executive every day.. The Commission avoids as much as possible any position that could be interpreted as interfering in the democratic processes of the Member States, but the pressure had increased in the last hours after the publication of the article, for precisely the same reason: because they were attributed to Von der Read some words that could be interpreted as taking sides.

The meeting between Feijóo and Von der Leyen took place last March. It was an important meeting between both leaders. On the one hand, because the popular knows that the German is one of the most powerful people within the so-called “Brussels bubble”. On the other, because Von der Leyen knows that if she wants to be president of the Community Executive again in the next European legislature and there is a change of government in Spain, she will need the support of Feijóo at the European Council in July 2024.

The two are interested in having a cordial relationship even if they do not have, at least at the moment, very close ties Feijóo is, through Esteban González Pons, close to Manfred Weber, president of the European People's Party (EPP), who although he shares Political family with Von der Leyen maintains a very tense relationship with the president of the European Commission.
