Biden reiterates his support for a "just" peace for Ukraine as he receives Zelensky in Washington

The American president, Joe Biden, reiterated this Thursday his commitment to a “just” and “lasting” peace for Ukraine when receiving his counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office of the White House.

“No nation can be truly safe in a world in which we do not defend the freedom of Ukraine in the face of brutal Russian aggression,” the US president said at the beginning of the meeting and in the presence of the media.

Biden has argued that the conflict in Ukraine will have consequences for the entire world and that, for this reason, Washington and its allies continue to support a “just” and “lasting” peace for Ukraine, a peace that “respects Ukraine's sovereignty and its integrity.” territorial”.

The Biden administration, however, has avoided committing to all of Zelensky's requests to end the war, which began with the Russian invasion of February 2022.

Zelensky presented at the 2022 G20 summit a ten-point decalogue that Moscow has called absurd and in which Kiev assures that it will not stop until it recovers 100% of Ukrainian territory, including the Crimean peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014. .

The Biden Executive has avoided explicitly committing to the defense of Crimea, although it continues to condemn its annexation by Moscow, and has repeated on several occasions that it is the Ukrainians who must decide the future of their country.

A new aid package for Ukraine

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the United States has provided 43.8 billion dollars (41.081 million euros at today's exchange rate) in aid to Ukraine with the objective, according to the Biden Administration, of making it easier for Zelensky to achieve advances in the field of battle and force an eventual negotiation with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

This Thursday, coinciding with the meeting with Zelensky, Biden plans to announce a new military aid package to Ukraine, according to White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in a press conference.

However, this package will not include long-range ATACMS missiles, which kyiv has been insistently demanding for months and which Washington has refused to provide for fear of provoking an escalation of war with Russia.

Putin's God of War publishes video to confirm he is still alive

Ramzan Kadyrov, governor of the Chechnya region, has posted a video on his Telegram account from the Moscow Central Clinical Hospital to confirm that he is still alive, despite the rumors that have followed him in recent days about possible poisoning.

The leader had not been seen for 20 days and, apparently, the belief that he was admitted in critical condition began to spread.. However, in the images he appears sitting next to the bed where his uncle, Magomed Kadyrov, was resting.. “I encouraged my dear uncle and wished him a speedy recovery,” are the words that accompany the video.

“Praise be to Allah Almighty, I am alive and well and I do not understand why, even in the case of my illness, there should be so much scandal,” adds the president who, on the other hand, thanks this experience for having given him the ability to know ” “what media and what people lie to their readers”.

The images show the “God of War” with a swollen appearance, especially in the face and hands, so it is considered that he is still facing some health problem, although not as serious as previously thought.

Massive Russian attack on several Ukrainian regions coinciding with Zelensky's visit to the United States

The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, took advantage this Thursday of the visit that Volodimir Zelensky made this week to the UN General Assembly and the American White House to send a war message: he will not stop his offensive and no region is safe from his scope.

Last morning, the Russian Army launched a wave of 43 cruise missiles – 36 were intercepted by the anti-aircraft defense before they reached their target – over several Ukrainian regions, including the capital, Kiev, in a multiple attack that also reached the regions of Cherkasy, Khmelnitsky, Vinitsia and Ivano-Frankivsk and Kharkiv, and for which it used Kh-101, Kh-555 and Kh-55 cruise missiles launched from 10 TU-95MS strategic aircraft 500 kilometers east of the border.

The attacks, which left six dead and nine wounded in the Kherson region controlled by Ukrainian forces, were recognized by the Russian Government, but it stressed that they targeted the Ukrainian military industry.. “The attack was directed against electronic espionage centers and training bases of sabotage groups of the Ukrainian Army, and all targets were destroyed,” said Russian defense spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reports “a Russian projectile hit an apartment building in the morning,” causing the death of “an 81-year-old woman.” The Ministry published a video of the consequences of the attacks, which have devastated doors, windows, interiors and surroundings of numerous apartments in the buildings hit.

The city of Kherson was liberated by Ukrainian troops in November last year, after more than eight months under Russian military occupation.. Russian forces continue to control the part of the Kherson region that is on the eastern bank of the Dnieper River, from where they daily bombard the other bank, where the city that gives its name to this province in southern Ukraine is located.

Moscow also assured that it thwarted a massive drone attack against the annexed Crimean peninsula, the focus of Ukrainian troops in recent weeks.. According to Defense, anti-aircraft defense shot down a total of 19 Ukrainian unmanned aircraft over the Black Sea and the territory of Crimea, and another three in the Kursk, Belgorod and Oryol regions.. Drone attacks against Russian regions are frequent, especially in recent months against Crimea, where the day before there were bombings with unmanned vehicles and missiles on the port city of Sevastopol.

Meanwhile, in the eastern region of Donetsk, Russian troops were trying to recover without success, according to the Ukrainian military command, positions northeast of Andrivka, a small town recovered last week by Kiev forces and located just 3 kilometers from the strategic highway T0513. Andrivka is located about 10 kilometers south of the city of Bakhmut, controlled since last May by Russian troops after a bloody ten-month battle, and whose recovery by Ukraine would be a severe setback for Moscow.

They investigate the journalist who presented the "alien existence" in Mexico for extracting the bodies from Peru without any permission

Jaime Maussan, a journalist and ufologist who presented two mummified bodies in the Mexican Congress on September 12, claiming that they were aliens, is being investigated by the Peruvian authorities for removing these remains without permission from the country.

According to the Peruvian authorities, these are bodies that, in reality, were already discovered in the country in 2017 and that after analysis it was determined that they were “dolls” that had been manufactured.

According to The Jerusalem Post, Maussan took these “pre-Hispanic” objects without knowing it and sent them to a laboratory in Mexico, which has led to the initiation of a criminal investigation against him.

The ufologist presented the alleged corpses in the Mexican chamber and assured that they had a Peruvian origin and were more than 1,000 years old.. He also called on the North American authorities to recognize this discovery and also stated that the alleged aliens had been analyzed by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

“We are not alone. It is transcendental to recognize these phenomena in Mexico, to make our country one of the first to accept the presence of non-humans,” the journalist explained in his presentation.

However, the university itself issued a statement in which it acknowledged that it had carried out an analysis of the bodies, but that they had only studied their age, not their origin.. “The LEMA disclaims any subsequent use, interpretation or misrepresentation made with the results it issues,” said this organization after Maussan's presentation.

“Manufactured” dolls

The bodies, in fact, had already been analyzed by the Peruvian Prosecutor's Office.. Their discovery occurred in 2017 in this country but they were not presented to the public.. Only a few photographs of them had been shown at a conference.

In its investigation, the Peruvian Prosecutor's Office, together with the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, concluded that the figures were “manufactured” dolls, thus determining that they are “creations made with animal and human bones joined with synthetic glue.”

Likewise, the investigation clarified that these were figures of “recent creation” and that they were covered with “a mixture of plant fibers and synthetic glue to simulate a type of skin.”

The Murdaughs: the terrible true story of a family marred by five bodies in less than six years

“They have seriously shot my wife and my son, they are not moving!”. Those were the words Alex Murdaugh used when he called the police on the night of June 7, 2021. It was not the first of his lies, and not the last that he would use to cover up one of the shadiest family plots in the history of the United States.. But let's start, at the beginning, who was this influential family and what were the five crimes that, in one way or another, bore their last name?

The Murdaughs, an untouchable dynasty

Collenton County, South Carolina, was one of those places where nothing almost ever happens.. Perhaps because those who 'ruled the show' and decided what was yes and what was not, for more than a century, were the Murdaughs, the most influential family of lawyers in the state.

Grandparents and Grandchildren Murdaugh Netflix

Its history dates back to the 1920s, when Randolph became the first elected attorney (district attorney). Since then, all of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, up to the protagonist of this case: Alex Murdaugh, have followed his legacy.

So it is not surprising that this historic dynasty had accumulated enough power to decide which cases are prosecuted, which people, and in what way.. Everything passed through his hands.

First murky death (2018): the assistant 'falls' down the stairs

The first death that affects the Murdaugh family occurred in 2018 in the house where Alex and his wife, Maggie Murdaugh, lived with their two children, Buster and Paul.

Gloria Satterfield was, for more than 20 years, another member of the family for whom she worked as a housekeeper and nanny, until an 'unfortunate accident' ended her life.. Or at least, that's what Maggie told the police when she called to report her assistant's 'fall down the stairs', who, apparently, could have tripped over the dogs.

Gloria Satterfield, the Murdaughs' nanny Netflix

Suspicions began to grow when, after the murder of Maggie and Paul, the babysitter's case was reopened and it was discovered that there was no autopsy, and that her death was listed as 'natural', which is strange for an accidental death.

As if all this were not enough to distrust the accidental causes of Gloria's death, it is known that her family never received the insurance compensation – 4.3 million dollars that the parties had agreed with the insurer and that Alex could have kept. Murdaugh-, and that, during the trial held on March 3, 2023, he himself confessed to having lied about the death of his assistant.

Gloria's exhumation – which is planned to be carried out if the family gives permission – would reveal a lot of information about what happened on the day of her death.. Although Netflix, in its documentary, has already dared to theorize about the reasons that could have led the Murdaugh family to murder the maid: “she knew too much.”

Second death (2019): a boat accident

The second death bears the mark of Paul Murdaugh, the youngest of the family, who that night in February 2019, returned from a party with five friends – three girls, among whom was his girlfriend, and his best friends, Margot and Mallory, and the latter's boyfriend. In addition to Connor, another friend of the group, Paul's cousin.

At the end of the party, most of the kids, who were 22 years old at the time, believed that it was best not to take Paul's boat after drinking, especially him, who, according to what they say, was in a serious state of drunkenness.

The 5 friends of Paul Murdaugh who were on the boat. Second left: Mallory Beach with her boyfriend Third left: Paul Murdaugh with his girlfriend ABC News

Once on the boat, Paul started going around with the boat, and all his friends got angry with him.. He was out of his mind, as he increasingly was when he drank, and even slapped his girlfriend in front of them all.. Seconds later, the ship crashed into a bridge. Everyone survived the fall, except Mallory, his girlfriend's best friend, who was in a relationship with one of the boys who was also on the boat, who was found dead in the river a week later.

When Paul was murdered, there was still no date for the trial he should have faced and which his family tried to avoid at all costs by obstructing the corpse and extorting the officials involved in the investigation.. There will never be justice for Mallory.

Third death (2015): an unsolved accident

We now go back to 2015, because when everything seemed to point in one direction during the investigation of the murder of Paul and Maggie Murdaugh, the case of Stephen Smith, a gay boy who had been found dead on the road, was reopened.

There was never enough evidence, but many witnesses and investigators claimed that the eldest of the Murdaughs, Buster, could be involved in this strange death – whose signs did not coincide with those of a hit-and-run accident – because he was on the radar of the area where it occurred in the moment in which the events occurred.

Some American newspapers have dared to suggest that Stephen could have a romantic relationship with Buster and that is why he could have gotten rid of him to safeguard his reputation.

The murder of Paul Murdaugh and his mother (2021)

With a housekeeper who falls down the stairs, a young woman drowned, a gay boy killed in the road and a mother and son shot to death…. The Murdaugh family went from being one of the most influential in South Carolina to being the protagonists of the most bizarre crime story in the United States.

The Murdaughs Netflix

The night that Maggie and her son Paul were murdered with two different weapons – a hunting shotgun and an assault rifle – Alex Murdaugh claimed to be visiting his parents, and it was later, when he arrived, that he found them dead.. Or at least, that was the version he maintained for a long time, until at the trial last March, he confessed, through tears, to having lied about his alibi because of the opiates he was taking.. He said that, in fact, he had been at her house that night. But he continued to plead guilty.

In fact, at the trial it became clear that he was there that night when the Prosecutor's Office provided videos in which the alleged murderer is seen wearing a white shirt with no blood stains, despite the fact that during the call he had warned the telephone operator that he had touched the bodies, as well as a clip from the boy's Snapchat in which the father's voice can be heard shortly before the time of death.

An assisted suicide

After the murder of his son and his wife, Alex Murdaugh's story could even become more bizarre. The last straw was the uncovering of a case of corruption in his company, which, added to the rest of the cases in which he was involved, forced him to resign.. But he wouldn't settle for that: The next day, Murdaugh called 911 and told them that someone had shot him in the head while he was changing the tire on his car.

It was soon shown that, in reality, the incident was part of a plan, hatched with a cousin of his, whom he convinced to fake his murder in order to collect the insurance from his only surviving son.

Justice put an end to this story when in March 2023 he was sentenced to serve two life sentences without the possibility of parole, for the murder of his wife and son. In addition, committing insurance fraud, criminal conspiracy, and lying in a police report. Now Collenton County rests in peace.

The shocking duel between a Russian tank and another Ukrainian one less than 10 meters away: "It looks like a Western shootout"

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense published this Wednesday on its social networks a shocking video where a Ukrainian T-64BV tank destroys a Russian T-72B3 armored vehicle and kills its occupants.. The footage, recorded by the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade, has gone viral on social networks to be filled with comments of support from users related to Ukraine.

In the video, you can see from an aerial perspective how the Ukrainian tank hides between some hedges to take advantage of an oversight by the Russian vehicle and fire a cannon shot at it at an extremely close distance, less than 10 meters. Later, with the enemy tank already neutralized, the Ukrainian fires again and leaves shortly after.

“I give the Ukrainian crew a 9 out of 10,” comments one user, while another is surprised by the short distance between the tanks: “this must be one of the closest tank duels in history”. Another finds similarities between the video and Wild West duels: “It looks like a shootout from a Western.”

According to the Ukrainian media Pravda, since the war began in February 2022, the Russian army has lost a total of 8,883 armored tanks, the vast majority of which have been destroyed.. The same newspaper takes stock of the Moscow Corps soldiers who have lost their lives, an estimated number of 274,470.. The number, however, is radically different from that provided in May 2023 by the US Pentagon, which estimated that 50,000 Russian soldiers had died in combat.

What is the right to veto in the UN Security Council that Zelensky asks to reform?

The United Nations General Assembly, which is being held these days in New York, is a meeting point in an international context marked by the War in Ukraine and tensions between Russia and Western countries.. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was invited to address the Security Council, where he called for a reform of the right to veto that would restrict this resource as much as possible, “especially in actions that tend to prevent atrocities.”. Their demands, however, did not have the presence of the main representatives of the five countries that, precisely, can exercise this right: the United States, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom.

The right to veto exercised by Russia in the Security Council has been the tool that has tied the UN hand and foot when it comes to intervening or even condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine.. What functions does the Security Council have and what exactly is the right to veto?

What is the UN Security Council

In 1944, at the end of World War II and with the imminent defeat of Nazi Germany and the Axis forces, the Allies held several conferences to decide, as winners of the war, the fate of the world after the conflict and under the pretext of an increasingly evident Cold War that would come after the war. The Dumberton Oaks, Yalta and Potsdam conferences suggested the possibility of creating a world organization and a council within it.. Thus the United Nations was born in 1945, whose Charter signed at the San Francisco Conference includes the existence of this new Security Council.

This UN Security Council was established, according to the United Nations Charter, as an organ to “ensure prompt and effective action by the United Nations” to which the organization confers “the primary responsibility for maintaining peace and security international”.

The winners of the Second World War, which were then attributed “an important role in the maintenance of international peace and security” were integrated into the Council as permanent members with the right to veto any provision: they were the United States, France, China, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union (now Russia)

Fifteen countries and five permanent members

The five permanent members maintain their status on the Council today. Added to them are ten “non-permanent” members, five of whom are elected each year by the General Assembly to cover a two-year period on the Council, according to article 23 of the Charter.

Currently, the Security Council is made up, in addition to the five permanent members, of Ghana, Gabon, Mozambique, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Brazil, Ecuador, Malta, Switzerland and Albania.

The Security Council fulfills certain functions, included in the founding document, aimed at maintaining peace and security at the international level, as well as detecting threats, urging the application of sanctions, regulating weapons or even undertaking military actions.. However, the permanent members have a 'veto right' that they can use to stop UN provisions and that they can use according to their interests.

What is the right to veto

In order to ensure that the Security Council acted under the pretext of agreement of all its members and unanimously, the five permanent members secured a veto power.

In the Security Council, each member state has one vote, and decisions are made from a majority of nine affirmative votes.. However, the right to veto gives the permanent members decisive power: the negative vote of one of them means that a resolution or decision of the Council is not approved.. Nothing can be approved if all the permanent members of the Security Council do not agree.

Russia has vetoed all resolutions against it

The veto power of the permanent members has posed a dilemma, since while the Security Council is a decisive tool for peace, its regulations allow the permanent members to veto any provision, decision or resolution that may affect them.. This strategy is precisely what Russia has used, which has used its veto to prevent any Council resolution or condemnation of the invasion of Ukraine.

In this sense, Zelensky has requested a temporary expulsion of Russia from the Security Council, considering that it is a member that violates the founding charter of the UN, something that will once again fall on deaf ears thanks, precisely, to that veto power.

Scandal in Poland: this is the plot of diplomats who sold visas and passed migrants off as Bollywood actors

Poland is one of the countries in the European Union that is most opposed to the immigration policies of the 27. It is precisely there where a plot to grant illegal visas has been discovered. Several diplomats and even members of the government are allegedly involved.

It was two neighboring countries that raised the alarm. The border protection services of Germany and Sweden warned about a strange increase in Polish visas.

For this reason, since July 2022, the Polish Prosecutor's Office has been investigating a scheme to grant temporary (and illegal) work visas to Asian and African migrants.. Polish media claim that the country's consular sections have issued thousands of visas to immigrants from Asia and Africa since 2021.

From 1,000 to 6,000 euros

They did it in exchange for bribes.. From what is known until now, the diplomats involved charged immigrants between 1,000 and 6,000 euros per visa.. With this document they could move freely not only through Polish territory but throughout the EU.. Polish media speak of around 350,000 illegal visas in the last 30 months, but it could reach almost 600,000.

The Polish embassies in Egypt, India, Kazakhstan, Nigeria and Tajikistan would be involved in the plot, according to the newspaper Rzeczpospolita.. In these, priority was given to those who paid the bribe and it was done in collusion with local subcontracted companies.

Last week, prosecutors and the State Anti-Corruption Office clarified that seven people had been arrested (none of them state officials) for their alleged involvement in the plot.. In August, when the first information about the scandal appeared, the Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of consular affairs, Piotr Wawrzyk, was fired.

Suicide attempt by the highest person involved

According to reports, Wawrzyk personally insisted that temporary work visas be issued to groups of people from India, who posed as teams working for Bollywood, the Indian film industry.. When his involvement became known, Wawrzyk attempted suicide, as reported by the Polish Minister of Justice.

The plot seems to have its origin in one of the measures adopted in Poland in 2020 in the face of the pandemic. According to journalist Piotr Leski, an “addition” was suddenly added to the Law on Special Provisions for the Prevention and Control of Epidemics of Covid-19 and other Communicable Diseases that allowed the Foreign Minister to grant visas.. The entire bill was processed as a matter of urgency.

“>

En este marco se basó el decreto de Exteriores de junio de 2023, señala Gazeta Wyborcza. According to it, the entry into Poland of some 400,000 temporary workers from Asian countries should be simplified.. When the ordinance became known, a scandal broke out, although Jaroslaw Kaczynski, leader of Law and Justice, the ruling party, called everything an “administrative error.”. The document was withdrawn.

And on October 15, elections

Poland's President Andrzej Duda says he is awaiting the results of an investigation (audit) into the allegations. Last Thursday, Duda dared to say that as he understood it, “at least part of the information that appeared in the media was false.”. And he said it just a few weeks before Law and Justice seeks re-election for a third term in the imminent elections.

“Some of the information that appears in the media is false,” says the prime minister.

Law and Justice has placed opposition to immigration at the center of its policies. Opinion polls for the October 15 elections suggest he will win, but not with an absolute majority.

The biggest Polish scandal of the 21st century

In the middle of the pre-campaign, the opposition denounces the hypocrisy of a Government that boasts of its toughness against illegal immigration and that profits by bribing very vulnerable foreigners. The main leader of the opposition today is Donald Tusk, who was Prime Minister and also president of the EU.. He has called the illegal visa scheme “probably Poland's biggest scandal of the 21st century.”

“We may be witnessing one of the biggest scandals in recent Polish history.”

This is what the president of the Polish National Audit Office, Marian Banas, has said: “Taking into account the information provided by the media, it is possible that we are witnessing one of the biggest scandals in Poland's recent history.”

Immigrants yes, but from Ukraine

A Polish soldier guards the country's border with Belarus. Daniel G.. Aparicio | AP Lapresse

The German Minister of the Interior, Nancy Faeser, has asked the Polish government for explanations and the ambassador in Berlin has been called for consultations. Because Warsaw has repeatedly refused to admit the quota of immigrants that the EU distribution imposes on it (those who arrive in thousands, for example, to Lampedusa or the Canary Islands).

Lampedusa is just a kind of symbol of a situation that threatens all of Europe, including Poland,” says Kaczynski

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Polish government opened its border to millions of refugees, offering them accommodation and work. 1.3 million Ukrainians (mostly women and children) are now registered as residents in Poland. But at the same time, he built a huge wall along the border with Belarus, intended to block the entry of immigrants from the Middle East and Africa.

This same Tuesday, at a press conference, Kaczynski said that the EU must confront the increase in migrants by closing its borders and rejecting any idea of relocating them within the bloc.. Law and Justice's top leader said Poland risks being overwhelmed by migrants like the Italian island of Lampedusa if they do not return to power in the October 15 elections.. “Lampedusa is just a kind of symbol of a situation that threatens all of Europe, including Poland,” he said.

The EU could have to adapt its AI law to adapt it to cases of 'fake nudes' like that of the Almendralejo girls

The European Union is working on an Artificial Intelligence law that will be pioneering in the international context, but it will not be a closed and immovable norm, but will have to adapt to facts such as the fake nudes generated precisely with this tool in Almendralejo (Extremadura).. An example of deep fakes that opens a door through which community legislation will have to enter to stop. The AI law is expected to be approved before next year, but the nuances continue to be analyzed.

“For deep fakes, the obligations for commercial use suppliers will be, for example, the use of a watermark. Now it is being discussed that a normal user, so to speak, who uploads one of these tools for free, also has this obligation. He will probably end up having it,” summarize the sources consulted by 20minutes.. “It is also being discussed whether this private user can be fined for improper use,” they add.

In this case, at the moment, the National Police is investigating seven minors in the Extremaduran town for creating nudes with an artificial intelligence app using the faces of twenty girls between 11 and 17 years old from their municipality and surrounding areas.. The case, which is already in the hands of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, is the first of a massive complaint in Spain of non-consensual AI porn that affects underage girls, but this practice is becoming more common every day against many women.

On the other hand, Spain does not have a specific law that regulates non-consensual porn created through Artificial Intelligence, also called deep fake.. A situation that only this summer several celebrities, such as Laura Escanes or Rosalía, have denounced, and which consists of creating highly credible nudes using real body parts of the victims.. In this sense and with regard to pornography, there are national regulations, but AI requires a “modernization” of the regulations.. In the case of the EU, “it will have to be adapted as the different cases are seen.”

In the parliamentary processing of the Yes is Yes Law, the Junts deputy Pilar Calvo tried to introduce an amendment that included a prison sentence of six months to two years for anyone who used non-consensual porn generated with AI, but her request was rejected by a PP-PSOE majority that did not consider it appropriate.

In Brussels they are trying to fit all the pieces into the pioneering standard that is expected to be “an example” for other international actors.. “It is precisely about introducing more transparency to know what the decision process has been to reach conclusions through AI. And what is more important: we have to know when we interact with AI,” explains socialist MEP Ibán García del Blanco. “We have to know that we are facing a deep fake or a text that is made with AI, or being served in a certain service. It is about achieving that level of transparency and also that people have the right to be able to go to a human person if they wish when making a decision,” he concludes.

The new community law, adds García del Blanco, “will address all the technological complexity that encompasses the phenomenon”. But important nuances must be made: “This does not mean that everything related to the impact of Artificial Intelligence can be contained in a single legal text.. Specificities will have to be developed for each sector and member countries will also be able to complete things with their legislation.”

In the specific case of Almendralejo, the implications and how these situations can be addressed will have to be looked at precisely.. “It cannot be that a tool can be used to undress anyone from any photo, without any type of registration or control to prevent its misuse. We cannot fully anticipate the future, but this AI Law will give us a lot of peace of mind in Europe,” concludes the MEP.

Organized crime leaves coolers with human remains in northern Mexico

This Wednesday, Mexican criminal groups left two coolers with human remains of two unidentified men, according to authorities in Nuevo León, a state in northern Mexico.

Police sources close to the investigation established that local residents reported the presence of the containers, abandoned outside a plastics business in the municipality of San Nicolás de los Garza, a suburb of Monterrey, the largest city in northern Mexico.

In one of the coolers, the remains of a man were located, who was wearing blue denim shorts and a black t-shirt.

The second victim was also a man wearing blue shorts, no shirt and another probable light blue garment.

The events caused an intense police mobilization of municipal agents, as well as the State Investigation Agency (AEI) and experts in charge of collecting evidence.

Given the facts, officers cordoned off the site while the first investigations were carried out.

The coolers are white and on the front display the initials of an organized crime group.

More mutilated corpses

In recent months, the level of violence by organized crime groups has worsened in Nuevo León, where just on September 16 in that same municipality a mutilated body appeared on López Mateos Avenue.

Also on August 24, in the municipality of Salinas Victoria, three bodies were found hanging from a pedestrian bridge and three heads were later found in an ice chest.

Nuevo León ranks tenth in absolute homicides in the country, registering 842 in the first eight months of 2023, when Mexico as a whole reported more than 20,000.
