Carnival in the Metropolitano with a Correa dressed as a superhero
They like the party and the magic in Cádiz. The Metropolitano was a carnival of goals and chances, with two teams dressed up. They both live dressed as defensive office workers, but when they play together they put on the suit and the cape. Eleven goals in their last two matches. Three in this one, only in the first part. Two in the second to certify the carnival at the Metropolitano (3-2) with Correa as the red and white dressed as a superhero.
Another who wanted to disguise himself was Sergio. The Cádiz coach wanted to dress as Simeone and decided to incorporate a third center back into his defense, probably the first time he had done so since his arrival at Cádiz three years ago. A movement that suited Brazilian Lucas Pires very well, who served as wingback on the left.. He took advantage of a run by Chris Ramos behind Hermoso's back, after a pittable contact against Riquelme, to put the first on the scoreboard.
Cádiz grew with the goal from their winger and began to match the brilliant start of Atlético, who had climbed on the back of their forward. It was an effective duo last season. Griezmann, Correa; Correa, Griezmann. French and Argentine scored in nine of the eleven games in 2022/23 in which they played together. So, between that, and the fact that in the last two games against Cádiz the red and white scored 7 goals, two of them from the Little Prince, the fates seemed red and white. They seemed.
While Correa and Griezmann threatened. Roger, he hit. The Torrent striker took advantage of a long serve from Ledesma to, behind Azpilicueta, take advantage of Oblak's poor start. Picadita and Navarrese and Slovenian portrayed in the oldest play in football. Patapúm behind the defense and mischief.
Although Fali's would be a shame. The Cadista center back dressed as Mágico González to try for what would have been the goal of the season. He stole a ball in the middle of the field, saw Oblak ahead and hit it with the worst of intentions. An inch was missing. Atlético, who had come out with great attitude, almost went three down at half-time.
But, as in every carnival there are always unexpected twists, Correa, the player magically recovered from a sprained knee in just five days, wanted to join the party after having bothered Griezmann in a play at the beginning of the game that could have been the first red and white goal. After failing a one-on-one match against Ledesma, the red and white team recovered the ball so that Azpilicueta could give his particular “pass (that does not take away) of forgiveness”. Correa finished off the lateral cross from the rojiblanco center back to the far post. One to two, in a match that, in 45 minutes, could go 4-2 or 4-3.

In fact, already in the first minute of the second, the carnival continued. Also with Correa as the protagonist. The Argentine left behind a backheel for Llorente who shot from a small angle against Ledesma, the rebound fell to Molina who shot to burst and the ball ended up inside the Argentine's goal.
Correa was unruly and the party was unruly. The second half was a carbon copy of the first in which the rojiblancos elaborated and Cádiz, with little, reached Oblak's goal. What changed sides was success.
batman and robin
Griezmann was the one who tried the most, but Ledesma, twice, took the goal away from the Frenchman. The two stars of their teams face to face. Batman against Superman, but Batman had Robin. And Correa was right again when he completed a back pass from Saúl after a volley from Lino. Correa's magic moved from the medical side to the grass.
Another Argentine who returned, this one on time, was De Paul. The world champion was as active and participatory as his compatriot. He almost scored the fourth after a chirigota slalom, with the defense watching.
The party continued until the end with both teams attacking, one to score and the other to equalize, despite Simeone yelling at his team to turn off the music and lock the key. Finally, they did it.
With this comeback, Atlético closes its perfect week with its victories in the derby and against Osasuna and Cádiz. Now it's Europe and it's Feyenoord's turn after the disappointment against Lazio in the last minute. The Champions League is another story.
