De la Fuente continues to give awards: Remiro, Grimaldo, Riquelme and Aleix García, on the list of the Spanish team

SPORTS / By Carmen Gomaro

The national coach, Luis de la Fuente, announced this Friday the list of 25 players with whom Spain will face the last two games of the qualifying phase for the Euro Cup, on Thursday the 16th in Limasol against Cyprus and on Sunday the 19th against Georgia in Valladolid. Although the classification for the event in Germany next summer is already mathematical, the team still needs to certify first place, which would allow it to be seeded in the draw on December 2.

In a list where the usual ones are, that classification and the injuries have allowed the entry of several very striking names. Remiro, the Real Sociedad goalkeeper, covers Kepa's loss. Grimaldo, Bayer Leverkusen's left back, enters alongside Gayá. And both Aleix García (Girona) and Riquelme (Atlético de Madrid) find a reward for their good moment. Not so Djaló, the Braga winger, who has finally been left out.

Of the casualties, the most striking are those of Laporte (through which Pau Torres enters) and Balde. Also that of Ansu Fati. For the rest, the block also has its continuous part. There is only one change in the goal and it is due to injury. In defense, the two mentioned. Rodrigo, Zubimendi, Gavi, Merino and Fabián continue in the center of the field, and Morata, Joselu, Nico, Oyarzabal and Lamine Yamal are immovable up front.

As expected, despite the midfielder's good form, Isco does not enter the coach's squad.. And neither does Sergio Ramos, who is also injured. The list is striking for several reasons.. First, because Real Sociedad is the team with the most representation (five players). Second, because Girona, with Aleix García, sees for the first time in history how one of its players goes to the national team. Third, because there are 14 teams represented. And fourth, because they are from four different countries (Spain, Germany, England and France).
