Jorge Vilda, new coach of the Moroccan women's team

The Moroccan Federation (FRMF) announced the hiring of Jorge Vilda as the new coach of its women's team in place of the recently fired Reynald Pedros. The 42-year-old coach from Madrid will take charge of the Leonas del Atlas for the next four seasons.

Five weeks after her dismissal from the Spanish team, Vilda takes the reins of the African team, which played in the round of 16 in the recent World Cup.. After leading Spain since 2015, he will now face a new project, with the title won in Australia and New Zealand as the main endorsement.

Vilda's dismissal was one of the first renewal measures announced by Pedro Rocha, acting president of the RFEF.. After her dismissal, on September 5, the federative body thanked her for her services, stressing that her work had been “key” to the “remarkable growth of women's football.”

Alleged coercion

However, just a few hours later, Vilda showed her discomfort at the RFEF's decision.. “After 17 years and after everything I have achieved, after giving my all as just another worker, I have a clear conscience, because I have given 100% every day. “I didn't understand my dismissal and I didn't see it as deserved,” he said in an interview on Cadena SER.

Last Tuesday, Vilda went to testify at the National Court, where she denied before the judge that she had coerced Jenni Hermoso's entourage as a result of Luis Rubiales' forced kiss during the World Cup final trophy presentation.. During her first statement before the Prosecutor's Office, the Pachuca soccer player had denounced coercion by Vilda, who she assured was “circling the plane to try to talk” with her family.
