La rúa del Barça: "La Liga is ours and the future too"

SPORTS

Ten years later, Barça once again celebrated together the League titles won by the first team and by the women's team. Like then, together, yes, but not scrambled. and with some differences. In 2013, the person in charge of opening the march was the open-air coach of the women's. In second, meanwhile, the masculine marched. And, to finish, the third was in charge of taking the animation through the streets of Barcelona. On this occasion, the order was reversed, placing the vehicle responsible for the animation at the head, placing the team led by Xavi Hernández in second place and the team coached by Jonathan Giráldez closing the festive convoy of Barcelona fans.

Before the start, yes, the Barça players posed together to immortalize what was going to be the celebration of the twenty-seventh league title for the first team and the eighth for the women's. A trophy to which the Barça players could still add what would be the second Champions League in their history. To do this, in this case, they will have to beat Wolfsburg in Eindhoven on June 3, in their fourth final of the highest European competition after those played in 2019, 2021 and 2022.

Long before the three buses began to travel through the streets of Barcelona, several thousand fans were positioning themselves along a route that began at the Camp Nou and that, after passing through the Travessera de les Corts and the streets of Numancia , Berlin, Paris (two cities in which, curiously, the Barcelona fans won their second and fifth Champions League, respectively), Balmes, Pelayo and Fontanella, ended their tour at the Arc de Triomphe. The fact that the sky was overcast and that a light drizzle even fell in the moments before the start of the rúa, which started about 20 minutes late, did not discourage some Barça fans who had been there for four years. without holding a first-team League: the last one was won with Ernesto Valverde on the bench, in the 2018-19 campaign.

For this reason, perhaps, the slogan chosen to illustrate the commemorative shirt worn by the players and the staff of the Barça first team was not at all unusual: La Lliga és nostra, el futur també (The League is ours, the future too).. A League that has also seen Gerard Piqué's farewell to both Barça and football and which will also be the last title for Barca for the current captain, Sergio Busquets. Piqué, precisely, despite the fact that he had been invited to participate in the celebrations with his teammates until the beginning of November last year, finally decided to decline the invitation and remain discreet in the background.. On the coach, meanwhile, the most active were perhaps Ansu Fati, Jules Koundé and a Robert Lewandowski who, despite being used to practically adding league after league with Bayern, decidedly celebrated in style.

The women's team players, for their part, also wore a commemorative shirt for their eighth league title. In this case, with the motto Juguem juntas, guanyem juntas (Jugamos juntas, ganamos juntas). The displays of joy, of course, were not at all behind those exhibited by his first team teammates. Alexia Putellas, the captain, absent for many months due to a serious knee injury suffered in the summer of last year, and Aitana Bonmatí, at times, seemed to stand out slightly above their teammates in an environment that also wanted to celebrate How great is the success that the team continues to reap and that they could find a golden finish in this 2022-23 season in the Champions League.

The rúa made it very clear in its first hour that it was going to go long. That is how long it took to travel what would be, in practice, a third of its total route.. The party, tremendously expected by Barça fans, was surely going to last much longer than expected, with some streets completely overturned to cheer on the great Barcelona stars, both in men's and women's football. Two teams that expect much more happiness in the future.
