Not even checks with absolutely dizzying figures like the ones that the main clubs in Saudi Arabia are willing to extend to attract talent to their league at any cost have been enough for several illustrious footballers to have been seduced by their siren songs.. Names like Leo Messi, Kylian Mbappé, Neymar, Robert Lewandowski or Luka Modric, to mention just a few of them, have sounded insistently as possible signings for Saudi football bells, but none has been willing to attend to them.. Some, to continue linked to their current clubs. Others, with a view to embarking on a new adventure, either with a new challenge in mind or in search of a much less controversial golden retirement.
The name that heads the list, without a doubt, is that of Messi. The former Barcelona player, after ending his time at PSG, had a proposal of 600 million euros on the table from Al-Hilal to revive his frenetic duel with Cristiano Ronaldo. The Argentine, however, after also ruling out the option of returning to the Barça club, opted to go to Inter Miami in which he has reunited with Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets. The latter, in fact, also handled some proposals from Saudi football, but in the end the possibility of playing again alongside the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner prevailed more than money.
The offer of Al-Hilal
Kylian Mbappé, once again the great name of the summer market, of course, is also part of this list. Al-Hilal, after the failure with their attempt to sign Messi, went after the Frenchman with a proposal of 300 million euros for PSG as a transfer and a file for the player of 200 million euros per year. in an agreement in which, in addition, he would retain all of his image rights. The striker, however, has already declined the proposal and his future, after the French club removed him from the tour, is still up in the air.. Despite the fact that Real Madrid continues without a doubt at the top of his list of preferences, in the last few hours Liverpool has also launched a bid for his services.
Another PSG player, Neymar, does not want to know anything about Saudi football either. Although the Parisian team would be more than delighted to lose sight of him, the Brazilian was not convinced by the possibility of going to Saudi Arabia, in a movement that, apparently, would once again have Al-Hilal as the main protagonist. The ex-Barcelona's preferences, in this case, would go through the Premier League, with Manchester United as his great wish. Neither has Robert Lewandowski been seduced by petrodollars who, after arriving at Barça last summer, is not willing to end his time at the Barça entity prematurely. Not in vain, the Pole has also played a decisive role in the arrival to the team of Ilkay Gündogan, with whom he became very good friends at Borussia Dortmund.
Saudi football, however, is not only looking for forwards with bells, as has already been made clear in the case of Busquets. Two key midfielders for Real Madrid's schemes know it well: Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. Despite the fact that the two had very firm and absolutely millionaire proposals from Saudi Arabia, both have preferred to continue in the ranks of the Madrid team. Both the Croatian and the German, finally, have chosen to extend their commitment for one more season, until June 30, 2024.
