The "lifetime" Llull puts an end to Mirotic's Milan and extends Real Madrid's streak

SPORTS / By Carmen Gomaro

“Llull's lifelong shots”. This is how Chus Mateo explained the eleventh victory in a row, one of the harshest despite what the final score dictated against Armani Milan. From less to more, from thickness to electricity, from errors to speed, Real Madrid continues to expand its thunderous dawn of the season. This time the Spaniard was the most lucid guy on the court, unbalancing with his off-script throws, genius that will never end. [88-71: Narration and statistics]

Like that triple on the halftime horn seen so many times and never stopped. Not even old Ettore Messina, desperate for the one who was once his pupil. Llull's triples are like daggers to the opponent's heart, they disarm armies. The same as in the last act, when Mirotic's Milan was gradually fading in the WiZink – the last time he visited, as a Barça player in June, he won the ACB and won the MVP -, he tried to get hooked on the battle. Once again Llull, the one of a lifetime.

The two guys who monopolized the attention in the previous one, the two who one day met at Real Madrid and did not leave the club as they would have wanted, the two who twisted the morbidity, Messina and Niko Mirotic, now reunited in Milan, had also scored the initial minutes. The first, with the blackboard. The second, with talent.

Because this Madrid that has started the season like a Formula 1 when the traffic light turns green had to lower its hand, torpedo its rhythm. Messina was aware, who accumulates centimeters in his quintets, who prefers a basketball with fewer possessions. With a high level of aggressiveness, he managed to force local losses and muddy their runs by pressing the offensive rebound. Chus Mateo's men grimaced, uncomfortable as if the rain from outside was soaking in, with their two towers soon loaded with fouls and nine down at the beginning of the second act (30-39).

Ndiaye

Madrid escaped from that spider web like so many other times, with more warrior ardor than basketball. And when it comes to stirring up the frenzy, there is no one like Llull, who feels euphoric when the guards are lowered and the heart rate is raised.. Without Tavares or Poirier on the court, Eli Ndiaye was key like Spiderman, touching balls and being everywhere. Little by little, Madrid began to undo its path, despite Mirotic and Shavon Shields. With a triple – their third at the time – on Llull's horn after having ridden all over the court (for the umpteenth time in their career), the Whites managed to rewind at the very break (42-42, partial 12-3 final).

Upon returning, Milan tried again to inject valium into the WiZink night. But Tavares, despite committing the third early, was like a jab from Ali on Olimpia's chin. He was making a dent well found by Musa and Campazzo, but in a divided ball he made the fourth. At that point he still hadn't caught a single rebound and so he was going to go home. With Campazzo pressing the accelerator, the maximum arrived (66-55, min. 27), Madrid is becoming more comfortable and Armani is more knocked out.

Messina had tried and, like so many lately, had failed. His team no longer had any strength or ideas left.. And, to make matters worse, the 'youth' of Madrid wanted a fun end to the party.. Llull, prolonging his rock and roll from the first half, returned with eight points from a run. And Chacho, pure magic, teamed up with Poirier and Hezonja to undo the transalpines with one alley oop after another. There were more than five minutes left and everything was finished, the eleventh consecutive white victory in just over a month, leading at home and in Europe.
