After securing victories against Osasuna, Alavés, and Celta, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance. With 10 points out of a possible 12, Xavi proudly announced this achievement during a press conference at Balaídos. To everyone’s surprise, he also revealed that Big Data analysis predicted Barcelona to be leaders based on the number of opportunities created. The match against Celta showcased Barcelona’s dominance, with 66% possession resulting in 14 shots, although only four were on target – just one more than their opponent’s efforts. Despite falling short of expectations, Xavi adopted an optimistic view and praised the team’s progress. He emphasized that defensive resilience and dominance in the midfield battles were positive aspects of their game. However, he acknowledged the need for improvement in attacking plays, such as the final pass and decision-making. With a hard-fought victory, Xavi highlighted the significance of the three points. Looking ahead, Barcelona remains unbeaten away from home and is preparing for their upcoming Champions League match against Naples. Additionally, Robert Lewandowski’s excellent scoring form, with 12 goals in 23 league games, adds to the team’s confidence.
