Montero sees "impossible" and "unviable" the conditions demanded by the PP to approve the deficit path
The Government and the PP are still far from reaching an agreement on the deficit path for public administrations. This is crucial for the preparation of the General State Budgets. The Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, has described the conditions demanded by the PP as “unviable” and “impossible.”
Montero expressed her desire for a meeting with the popular party, but quickly dismissed it as the conditions set by the PP make negotiations “unviable and impossible.” One of the demands raised by the PP is a tax reduction that affects personal income tax and VAT.
Montero reiterated that the stability objectives proposed by the Government are suitable for the governments and municipalities governed by the PP. She argued that the PP has no valid arguments to oppose these objectives, as they have used them themselves in the past.
The PP’s demands include a tax reduction, more spending margin for autonomous communities, non-interference with regulatory autonomy, and the creation of a state fund for financing health, education, and public services in autonomous communities.
