Sand, water and sun, the cocktail that triggers mobile phone breakdowns in summer
Summer is the time to visit the pool, the beach and all kinds of distractions that, although necessary, can end up having negative effects due to the consequent carelessness. One of the goods most affected by the summer is the mobile phone, since the number of breakdowns suffered by these devices shoots up 25% during the summer season, according to data provided by the Rentik device rental platform.
The breakdowns typical of summer are very varied, although among them stand out the problems generated by the sand from the beach when it enters the microphone, speaker or the phone's charging pin or those derived from water. Likewise, another of the most common situations is that the heat and exposure of the phone to the sun for a long time ends up damaging the screen, which ends up showing a white image or retaining an image and rendering it useless.
Almost half of Spaniards have suffered some damage with their phone during its useful life. However, there is a big divide between how to deal with it. In fact, the majority (62%) do not usually fix the device and buy another when they have to do a repair or continue to use it despite the deterioration.
However, practically four out of ten Spaniards do go to fix the phone, a particularly pronounced trend among those who have mobiles with a value of more than 1,000 euros, which also tend to have more expensive repairs than cheaper devices.
According to data from the rental platform, among those users who have a phone valued at more than 1,300 euros, 22% have paid more than 200 euros in repairs. This is the case of Rentik, which has just signed an exclusive leasing agreement for the new Samsung foldables, and whose rental is also accompanied by insurance for the terminal that also covers theft.
