The PSOE rejected in recent months the measures that it is now promoting in the area of housing
In recent weeks, the Government has announced and defended a wave of measures in the area of housing, ranging from the mobilization of Sareb flats for social rental to public guarantees for first-home mortgages for young people and families with children.. However, just a few months ago the PSOE rejected some of these measures, considering them unfeasible or ineffective.
Endorsing the entrance to its first floor to those under 35 years of age is the latest measure promoted by the Government to facilitate access to housing for the youngest. The initiative will be approved this Tuesday in the Council of Ministers, despite having the opposition of United We Can, which considers it doomed to failure. The PSOE's position was not very far from that of its government partners a little over two weeks ago, when it criticized the PP's proposal to guarantee access to housing for young people with a minimum income of 15%.. “Do not be fooled. To access a home, purchasing power is necessary, not guarantees,” the socialist account published on Twitter on April 20.

The PP proposes guaranteeing 15% access to housing for young people with a minimum income.
We increased the SMI, going from €700 with Rajoy to €1,080.

Twenty days later, the PSOE rejects the criticism and defends that the guarantees “respond to the needs that arise”, while asking “not to demonize” people who choose to buy a home instead of renting, as defended this Monday the Minister of Transport, Raquel Sánchez. From the Executive they estimate that around 50,000 people could benefit from public guarantees and trust that the measure will help alleviate the housing problem.
Another measure first rejected and then adopted by the PSOE has been the mobilization of Sareb flats for social rental, something that United Podemos proposed in the Congress of Deputies in September. The Socialists refuted it, arguing that the 'bad bank' is not a public instrument in housing policies and that it did not have enough real estate either.. Seven months later, the President of the Government himself announced less than a month ago the mobilization of 50,000 homes.
Unidas Podemos defended a non-legal proposal in plenary session of Congress requesting the transfer of Sareb properties and land to city councils and autonomous communities, an initiative that failed to obtain the necessary support as it only had the positive vote of Esquerra Republicana and EH bildu. The Socialist deputy Valentín García Gómez then explained that Sareb is not “a public instrument to develop public housing policies”, since “neither the size of the housing package they own nor an objective analysis of the housing market allows it”. , a position that differs from that currently defended by the PSOE.
