These are the two aids that you can collect together with the subsidy for people over 52 years of age

One of the most relevant public benefits granted by the Public State Employment Service (SEPE) is the subsidy for people over 52 years of age.. This is financial aid for people who are in this age range in a situation of unemployment, having exhausted the rest of the benefits, and who contribute towards the retirement pension. This 2023, the amount of said subsidy amounts to 480 euros per month, due to the increase in the IPREM to 600 euros included in the General State Budget (PGE) for this year.

But, can the collection of this aid be made compatible with others? As stated by the SEPE, there are two non-contributory aids that can be requested together with the subsidy for people over 52 years of age: the Insertion Income and the Minimum Vital Income. However, it will be necessary for the applicant to meet the requirements established for each aid.

Who can apply for the subsidy

In the first place, to access aid for people over 52 years of age, it will be necessary to have exhausted unemployment and/or the unemployment subsidy, as well as not having an income greater than 75% of the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI).. On the other hand, the applicant must not have their own income, although the income of the rest of the people that make up the coexistence unit is not counted.

Likewise, you must be registered as a job seeker in the corresponding community and have a minimum contribution, which in this case will be at least between 90 and 359 days, indicates the Social Security.

What are the Insertion Income and the IMV

The Minimum Insertion Income (RMI) are the different programs managed at the regional level and in the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla for “individuals and families who lack sufficient economic resources to cover their basic needs, also accompanied by a process of social intervention”, explains the Ministry of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda.

In this way, the amount and the necessary requirements to access these benefits vary depending on the community. In the Community of Madrid, the amount for a person who lives alone, with no other income, is 469.93 euros per month, for two people it is 587.41 euros and for three people it is 662.52 euros, up to 965 euros, which is the maximum amount to receive. In other communities such as Galicia, the so-called social inclusion income, for a person who lives alone is 469.20 euros. While in Andalusia, the amount amounts to 533 euros for one person.

On the other hand, the Minimum Vital Income (IMV) is aid for households in vulnerable situations to “prevent the risk of poverty and social exclusion of people who live alone or are integrated into a coexistence unit” and do not have of the basic necessary resources, indicates the Social Security. By 2023, the guaranteed monthly amount will be 565.37 euros for a single beneficiary, although these amounts are increased by 30% for each additional member.
