Renfe has started this Tuesday the return of the deposits of the free passes purchased in the first four-month period of the year for travel in Cercanías, Rodalies or Media Distancia services, and that were paid with a bank card.

Travelers who have used the free pass in the first four-month period of 2023 will be refunded the deposit (10 euros in the case of Cercanías and Rodalies, and 20 euros in Media Distancia) provided they have met the conditions.

Those who pay the deposit with a card will be automatically refunded. The public company estimates that all returns of deposits paid by card will be made within a week. For those who do not receive the return, they can file a claim and they will be assisted in the after-sales service.

For users who paid the deposit in cash, the holder of the subscription must request the refund in person by going to any point of sale or Customer Service. To do this, you will have to present the subscription together with the DNI, NIF/NIE as well as any ticket or proof of purchase.

Regarding the season tickets for the second four-month period (for journeys between May 1 and August 31), Renfe has already issued 1 million free Cercanías, Rodalies and Media Distancia passes, and Avant vouchers with 50% discounts.

Of the total season tickets, 740,000 correspond to Cercanías and Rodalies tickets and 250,000 to Media Distancia tickets. In addition, just over 10,000 50% discounted Avant bonds have been acquired.
