A fairground vendor is prosecuted for groping 22 girls at the Gallarta festivities (Vizcaya)

A Barakaldo court has indicted a fairgrounder arrested in June accused of having touched 22 teenagers, all but one of whom were minors, while he was supposedly securing the attraction's holding mechanism at the Gallarta festivities (Vizcaya)..

As reported by sources from the Superior Court of Justice of the Basque Country, the Court of Instruction number 4 of Barakaldo has prosecuted the aforementioned fairground for the alleged commission of a continuous crime of sexual assault with victims under 16 years of age and another continuous crime of sexual assault..

The head of the court has issued the order with which the investigation ends, transforms the preliminary proceedings into an abbreviated procedure and gives the process to the Prosecutor's Office and the accusing parties, if any, so that within a period of 10 days they request the opening of the trial oral formulating his written accusation or the dismissal of the case or, exceptionally, the practice of complementary proceedings.

The judge considers that “from the procedures carried out during the investigation it is indicative that between June 16 and 18 of this year, on the occasion of the Gallarta festivities, the person under investigation, taking advantage of the fact that he had to place the closing mechanism of an attraction of fair, repeatedly touched 22 girls in the genital area without consent, all but one of whom were minors.”.

The head of the court says that these events are apparently constitutive of a continuing crime of sexual assault with victims under 16 years of age and a continuing crime of sexual assault. The alleged perpetrator of these events has been in provisional prison since June 19, 2023.
