A young man is arrested for assaulting a transsexual woman in Fuengirola (Málaga)

Agents of the National Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in Fuengirola (Málaga) as allegedly responsible for a verbal and physical assault on a transsexual woman on the promenade of said town.

The facts were reported at the Fuengirola Police Station by the victim, after being approached at dawn by an unknown person, who hurled various insults at her that violated her gender identity and, in addition, made a superficial cut on her arm with a weapon white, have reported from the National Police.

According to the investigation, which has been carried out by agents assigned to the Local Information Brigade of the Fuengirola Police Station, “the victim would have suffered a violent act –apparently gratuitous–, for no other manifest reason than what would be an attack to their gender identity”, they have indicated in a statement.

The night of the attack, the victim was with a friend, near a taxi rank, when they ran into a stranger, who began to utter insults directly attacking the gender identity of the transsexual woman.

Far from being intimidated, the victim reproached her attacker for the reason for those comments, starting a dispute between the parties, in which she received a superficial cut on one of the forearms, apparently with a knife..

After reporting the facts, the agents began an investigation that led to the location and arrest, based on the description provided by the victim, of the person responsible for the attack, who was recognized by the victim in the corresponding police investigation..

According to the Provincial Police Station, the Investigating Court number 1 of Fuengirola is aware of these facts. In addition, they have indicated that reporting this type of hate crime “helps prevent other events in the future”.

In this sense, they have recalled that any person who suspects they have been the victim of a hate crime can request advice through the channels provided by the Ministry of the Interior and, through 091, the National Police. “Reporting hate crimes helps the Security Forces and Bodies to prevent and prevent these events from happening again”, they have influenced.
