An 80-year-old man drowned this Thursday while bathing on the beach of Sant Gervasi in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona).

The emergency services received several calls from bathers at 12:20 p.m. warning that there was a man floating in the water, the Generalitat Civil Protection explained in a statement.

At that time there was a green flag and a lifeguard service, which carried out resuscitation maneuvers until the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) arrived, which also failed to resuscitate the man.
