Ayuso and Almeida ask for "an additional effort" in Madrid to "evict Sánchez": "Let no one stay at home"

SPAIN

After obtaining absolute majorities in the Community and in the Madrid City Council, Isabel Díaz Ayuso and José Luis Martínez-Almeida have once again turned on the electoral mode for the general elections announced yesterday by Pedro Sánchez for July 23. And they have done so by positioning Madrid as a key player, with its good results, to boost Alberto Núñez Feijóo in his aspirations to reach La Moncloa.

This Tuesday, in his speech before the Autonomous Board of Directors, both leaders have called for “an additional effort” and “a massive vote” of the people of Madrid at the polls to “evict Pedro Sánchez” from the Moncloa Palace. “This project at the expense of a few is finished. It is a source of pride to know that the PP is once again giving this country an opportunity to stand up to nationalism from the institutions”, pointed out the regional president, who in the first place has sown doubt about the “traps” and “strange movements” of the PSOE, referring to the cases of vote buying, before indicating that “elections are always held with guarantees and in freedom”.

“That nobody stays at home, it would be a great shame if, having the game to shoot at the last moment, it escapes us,” Ayuso stressed about the elections, which, he added, have been called “treacherously” because Sánchez seeks to put “difficulties”, in the middle of summer, so that the Spanish go to the polls. “He was never everyone's president, but I find it unfortunate not to leave the Spaniards alone on their vacations,” he remarked.

“The purpose of convoking in July is that people are clueless, that they are demobilized, that there is a lack of auditors, attorneys, trying to bravely and desperately arrive and change things because, as he saw on May 28, his project is no longer Nobody believes it, it is totally finished and he needs to get any process and any situation out of his sleeve, to see if the figures come out this way,” he explained.

The Madrid leader has placed it as “a fundamental task” for Madrid to help “demonstrate not only that socialism is a way out but that it is done with values”. “Spain cannot be bought because the Spaniards from side to side realize what is happening in this country and do not buy the damaged merchandise from the ministers or the president,” said the regional president.

The mayor of the capital has shown himself along the same lines, assuring that “only from unity around the PP can sanchismo be won”. That is why he has called for “an additional effort” in an election where “we all have a lot at stake”. “Just as the regional and municipal elections were the most important in our democratic history, so are the general ones. The Sanchez or Spain. Either Sánchez or the model of Spain that we all gave ourselves,” said Almeida.

The councilman added that the call for elections on July 23 is given because the President of the Government has “a premeditated strategy to find the least bad moment” as a sign of his “lack of scruples” and his “excessive ambition”. “It’s not going to be easy, it’s not going to be simple to dislodge him,” he concluded.
