The former mayoress of Madrid, Manuela Carmena has reappeared during the final sprint of the electoral campaign to give her support to the candidacy of Rita Maestre.
He has done it in a video with the Palacio de Cibeles as a backdrop (headquarters of the Madrid City Council) and in a dialogue format under the title “we are going back”.
“Rita, I saw you the day before yesterday in the debate, well I didn't see it in its entirety because they are very heavy, but you were beautiful and super elegant,” Manuela Carmena starts after some silent shots where both are seen looking through a balcony.
Faced with this intervention, Maestre laughs and says “thank you” while Carmena insists: “but how stylish, how elegant and good, not only that. It is evident that you are the one who knows what our Government was and you are the one who really knows the City Council and what some policies and others have been. The important thing now is that everything goes well and that you can be in charge of this team in which I believe you will be able to continue with what was the spirit of our Government and to that extent I will be very grateful”.
A few words to which Rita responds: “I am very proud to have been part of that Government. I learned a lot, we learned a lot. Not only about politics, about you and the things we did, but also about Madrid. To know Madrid well, which is known from the Government, which forces you, if you take it seriously, to be very present in the city”.
“Man, I think that the beautiful thing is to feel that the one who should really govern is the city. I have always liked to say that the mayor is like the conductor of the orchestra but if the city does not live, the orchestra does not work. What it’s about again is that the orchestra works,” Carmena concludes before the video montage transitions to a still shot of the two of them putting their heads together that segues to an image of the Cibeles palace from a distance.
