Erra assumes the presidency of the Parliament vindicating the condemned Borràs and Forcadell
Anna Erra has assumed the presidency of the Parliament this Friday, vindicating her two predecessors in office, the convicted Laura Borràs and Carme Forcadell, and promising to continue their mandates.
Erra -who was elected with the favorable votes of the ERC and Junts deputies- has promised to “defend the sovereignty of Parliament above all else”. “The right to debate and vote on everything that parliamentarians agree on”, insisted the neo-convergent president to evoke the line marked by Forcadell who, based on this same argument, allowed the approval of the disconnection laws in which the 1-O was protected “suffering for this unjust imprisonment”, according to the new president of the Catalan Chamber.
Erra has also alluded to illegal voting, who has clarified that he will use his institutional position to promote “the resolution of the political conflict based on the right to self-determination and 1-O”.
The former mayoress of Vic has also promised to “reverse the rules” of the Parliament “that have allowed” Borràs to have lost her seat after being convicted of corruption” and has assured that she will return the command rod of the Parliament to her predecessor if her appeal to the Supreme Court is successful.
Erra has not forgotten to pay tribute to Carles Puigdemont, who was ultimately responsible for her election, as he favored her over other Junts candidates. Nor to ask that the Catalan language be used in the Chamber, preferably to “normalize it”. Before his speech, Vox has left the chamber.
As mayor of Vic, Erra became famous for allowing the square of the Barcelona town to be planted with yellow crosses, for broadcasting independence proclamations over the public address system installed in the City Hall and, as a deputy, for urging “autochthonous Catalans” not to speak Spanish to ” those who don't seem Catalan”.
