Feijóo challenges the socialists to demand that Sánchez break with Bildu: "Nobody has the dignity to say that they either do it or leave the PSOE"?
The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has thrown all the artillery against Pedro Sánchez at the start of the electoral campaign. From Toledo, and in front of some 600 spectators -according to the PP-, he has condemned the government's pacts with Bildu, now more than ever for having 40 ETA members and “seven murderers on their lists”.. To which the popular has added a dozen “reasons to repeal sanchismo”, such as the 'only yes is yes' law, the “appropriation of institutions” such as the CIS or the TC or the CNI, the law of “pro-squatter” housing or Sánchez's trips abroad, where the president feels “more comfortable because” they don't need anything from him.
Some 600 militants -and some from Toledo attracted by the rhythm of El Canto del Loco, Fran Perea or Despistaos- awaited the arrival of the candidates for mayor of Toledo, Carlos Velázquez, and the Community of Castilla-La Mancha, Paco Núñez, and above all, the president of the PP, who has chosen the capital of the three cultures to start the electoral campaign. The flags and fans with the faces of the candidates and the party that today leads the opposition in this red square gave way to the protagonists of the morning.
“It is unacceptable that Bildu continues to be a member of the PSOE and that Sánchez's candidates keep quiet. I am not going to choose to endorse the nonsense of Bildu, they are not going to silence me”, began Feijóo, who, in addition to asking the PP for a vote, “the party that has always brought Spain out of its economic and social crises”, He has addressed the socialist voters and, especially, the leaders and candidates of the municipalities and communities that are risking the territory in two weeks to ask them for courage to confront the socialist leader.
“It disgusts me, like the majority of PSOE voters, that Bildu has murderers on his lists; it shocks me that the Government says that it deserves respect and it saddens me that the PSOE lowers its ears. Is it normal after what we have suffered [ETA]? Are you going to accept the pact with Bildu even if he has assassins on his lists? Does no one have an iota of dignity to tell Sánchez that either he breaks with Bildu or leaves the PSOE?
In line with the criticism of the internal crisis of the PSOE -which socialist barons such as Emiliano García Page or Javier Lambán have glimpsed on several occasions-, the popular president has also referred to Sánchez as a “toxic” asset in the acts of his party. “The PSOE candidates are very happy that Sánchez is not at their rallies and Sánchez is very happy because he does not have people”. In this sense, he ironized that Sánchez “is much more comfortable with his entire entourage in the United States” than on the streets of Toledo. “It's much better to enjoy world leaders who don't need anything from him than to listen to what the Spanish need.”
Although he has said he is happy that Joe Biden is inviting Pedro Sánchez to the White House, he has made the second ugly that the American is not going to hold a joint press conference. “The international agenda should not be used to cover up domestic issues”. He has also said that if he were the current president, he would be “ashamed” to go to the United States and have to explain why the ministers of United We Can disagree with giving aid to Ukraine or closing defense agreements with the United States.
Thus, he has emphasized the “Government that insults each other” and that legislates “to favor the squatting of the house” and “punishes animal violence more than gender violence”, while being involved in “a security strike social” and “months in conflict with justice”. He has also accused the Government of having “appropriated the Council of State, the CNI, the TC or the CIS, “if the PSEO always wins, why do they do them?”, he joked.
For all this, Feijóo has contrasted the “change” proposed by the PP with “that of frivolity, populism and the radicalism of the Government”. The popular leader has closed his first rally of the 28M campaign drawing two possible Spains: “To continue the same there are dozens of parties and for change there is only one ballot, that of the PP, the serene change of Spain.”
