Feijóo demands that the PSOE "clarify" the Aragon renewables scandal: "I have never seen anything like this"

“How is it possible that the consultants that prepare the files of a wind power company are later the ones that authorize the environmental impact statement of that project on behalf of the public administration?”. The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has fully entered the scandal of renewable energy in Aragon this Wednesday, revealed by EL MUNDO on Tuesday. This newspaper published the evidence that confirmed the division of wind and solar projects to circumvent the state guarantee, as well as the fact that two consultants that worked for the Government of Javier Lambán also worked for the main renewable company in the community, Forestalia.

In a press conference in Zaragoza together with the popular candidate for the Aragon elections, Jorge Azcón, and the head of the list for Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca, Feijóo has demanded “an immediate clarification” of the process of processing and authorization of hundreds of facilities renewable energy in Aragon. The opposition leader has assured that something like what was revealed by this newspaper “has never seen it during 14 years as president of Galicia, I have never seen it.”

Both Feijóo and Azcón have raised their criticisms, after revealing today EL MUNDO that there are 12 former regional leaders in the pay of Forestalia, the main player in the Aragon renewable bubble. “Yesterday, the information we received made us extremely concerned, and today we are even more concerned, because today we know that members of the PAR, members of the Chunta and members of the PSOE who were an essential part of the Lambán governments are now working for Forestalia , promoting those projects that have serious doubts about having been processed with all the guarantees”, has summarized.

“We need to investigate”

“It is surprising to see how former senior officials of the Government of Aragon are part of the company's Board of Directors,” added Feijóo. “We need to investigate, the Aragonese have the right to know what is happening in such an important sector,” Azcón added.

Beyond the scandal of renewables, Feijóo wants to change the pace of the campaign and talk about the economy, with two fundamental focuses: the shopping basket and the electricity bill. That is why he has demanded that Sánchez “return now” the 6,000 million electricity surplus that he has collected in excess to lower the rate for small consumers and companies. “As the Government holds many Councils of Ministers and rallies where it announces what it is going to approve, we ask that these 6,000 million be dedicated to reducing the electricity debt -which is at 10,000 million-, to automatically lower the costs of the bill for small consumers and thus improve the competitiveness of the economy”, he assured.

The president of the Popular Party has stressed that, despite the fact that the cost of the electricity bill has grown by 50% since 2020 and is already 20% more expensive than the EU average, the Government has had an electricity surplus, and has criticized that the Executive is benefiting from the increase in the cost of prices, by collecting 3,000 million more each month, 32,000 million more per year, which added to the increase in Social Security contributions, add up to 42,000 million more. “The Government lives very well and the people live very badly,” he denounced.

For the president of the PP, the Government prefers to talk about other things and lives in its “ideal world”, despite the fact that “food prices have not stopped increasing -nearly 25% in just over two years- and the average mortgage has become more expensive by 300 euros”.
