The soap opera unleashed on Vox after the abandonment of Iván Espinosa de los Monteros seems not to have ended. Juan Luis Steegmann, number six on the list for Madrid and automatic replacement for Espinosa de los Monteros, has also renounced collecting the act of deputy and will not be part of the Vox parliamentary group.
This has been advanced by Libertad Digital and confirmed by EL MUNDO through sources from the party leadership. Steegmann, a renowned doctor by profession, was one of the most relevant figures of the party in Congress in the last legislature, despite being the focus of attacks by sectors of the electorate opposed to vaccination.
In addition, Steegman has also communicated to Santiago Abascal that he is leaving all the organic positions that until now he held in the leadership of Vox, in the same way that Iván Espinosa de los Monteros did two days ago.
With Steegmann's resignation, the next parliamentarian to access the Lower House is Carla Toscano, one of the great absences in Congress after the poor results obtained on July 23, which left out several familiar faces from the party.
Toscano, the scourge of left-wing feminist policies during the last legislature in the Cortes, has been a councilor in the Madrid City Council since May 28. At the moment he has not confirmed if he will collect the minutes or, like Steegmann, he will refuse to do so.
