The leaders of EH Bildu not only deny Pedro Sánchez about his non-alliance but, in the middle of the campaign, they mock the president's statements when he tries to distance himself from his partner in Congress and in Navarra. Bildu's spokeswoman in the Lower House Mertxe Aizpurua -the one in charge of closing all the pacts with the PSOE and Sánchez's ministers- recalled that “people are not stupid” after what was seen in this legislature and, with a smile, has confirmed that the president “will have no choice” but to come to an agreement with them.
EH Bildu shows off the social achievements he has obtained with his alliance with Sánchez in Euskadi, while it is the PNV who reveals that among the transfers of the President of the Government are the transfer of prisons and the rapprochement of ETA members. The Abertzale coalition observes with delight Sánchez's attempt to deny the evidence when he has begun his round of interviews to regain prominence after the poor results of 23-J.
Mertxe Aizpurua – commissioned by Otegi to first open the negotiation with Sánchez during the pandemic to become the most faithful ally of sanchismo – has warned on Basque television that if Sánchez does not defend the “very good agreements” closed with EH Bildu “no has nothing to do” in the next general elections.
“People have already seen what has happened in these four years,” Aizpurua insisted after hearing Sánchez deny this agreement with the Otegi coalition. “Nobody believes it, it is something that has no credibility. The elections will pass and then we will see, but I am sure that, if they see themselves in need, we will continue the same, and they will have no other choice,” Aizpurua insisted.
The speech of the spokesperson for Congress is in line with what was stated by Otegi himself. “Do you think people are stupid?” Otegi asked himself on June 3 when Sánchez began to deny the evidence of his alliances after verifying the cost in the regional and local elections in May.
EH Bildu, in addition, has managed to retain the Bermeo Mayor's Office that was disputed with the neighborhood platform of Bermeo Guzan. The mayor of this Biscayan town, Asier Larrauri, elected last Saturday the 17th, resigned after he suffered a traffic accident at dawn on Sunday when he was driving drunk. EH Bildu and Guzan had added their votes to get the PNV out of the Mayor's Office.
Guzan claimed since last Sunday that his representative and deputy mayor Xabier Ortuzar should be the new mayor while Bildu endorsed Nadia Nemeh Shomaly, his second candidate on the list. This very afternoon, the two formations have reached an agreement and Shomaly, a lawyer of Palestinian origin and employed at BBVA, will be the mayoress of Bermeo.
