Puigdemont: stabilizer or blaster?
“Coherence and patriotism”, ask the guardians of conservative thought (FAES) in the face of the challenge of governance. Puigdemont's party confronts it with the same ingredients, although patriotism is not inspired by the same country. That is the anomalous fracture point between two conservative political forces. The PP, at a national level. Together, on a Catalan scale.
The same can be said of the PNV with respect to the Basque Country, if it were not because, unlike Junts, it has put forward an ideological and not a territorial issue: with Vox attached to the PP, there is nothing to talk about with Feijóo. On the other side of the barricade, the two nationalist lefts, ERC and Bildu, do the same, out of declared aversion to a right-wing government, without prejudice to keeping their independence aspirations alive through dialogue, negotiation and never-ending shortcuts..
it is not opinion. It is a review, in view of the confused electoral count on Sunday. If the ideological is not subordinated to the identity, the Junts-PP alignment in the cause of Feijóo for president would have plenty of coherence and little patriotism. In his hand it would be to seat the applicant in the Moncloa. But not the case, barring unlikely entangling mischief of the ancient convergents.
If the two seats at stake at this time (one in Girona, the other in Madrid) do not alter the foreseeable relationship of forces between Sánchez's coastal theorists and those of Feijóo, Sánchez's continuity in Moncloa would also be at the mercy of the fugitive of Waterloo (the abstention of its seven deputies would suffice).
But their starting demands (self-determination and amnesty) are unassumable. Also for Sánchez, no matter how much he is taken for an accomplice of separatism. His self-serving concessions to peripheral nationalisms (pardon, reform of the Penal Code, rapprochement of prisoners, withdrawal of the Civil Guard from the roads of Navarra) never stepped on the red lines of access to the “removal process” that the FAES theologians fear.. Namely: unique and indivisible national sovereignty and principle of territorial integrity.
The forcefulness of the position of the President of the Government, now in office, does not allow frivolization with his presumed intention of giving what the independentistas ask of him in exchange for remaining in power. He repeated it during the campaign: “The independentistas ask for amnesty and self-determination, but they have not had and will not have either of the two things”.
Notice to all the “experts” who always know what @JuntsXCat needs to do (and always talk bad about it, or belittle their position): Junts owes nothing to anyone but its voters. Neither to clever political scientists, nor to various talk shows, nor to Twitter pseudonyms, nor to…

The speculative field is limited between that conclusive position of Sánchez and the initial demands of Puigdemont. Along the way, we will see the according and how of the dialogue entrusted to Jaume Asens (Sumar). It's too early to speculate on the governance formula on a hopelessly shaky political bed.
After all, governability and stability of the State are concepts that are incompatible precisely with those who are called upon to make the State they hate governable.. Not only the seven deputies of Junts. Also the 13 that make up the strategic alliance of the pro-independence left (ERC and Bildu), which are safe props for the continuity of the second coalition government of democracy (PSOE-Sumar). And this is the main anomaly of the system that makes it possible.
So far, the alternative scenario to a predictable failed investiture of Núñez Feijóo, who has every right to ask for the confidence of Congress to preside over the Government of the nation as the winning party in the July 23 elections.. All the more reason, if the pending seats (CERA count) change the relationship of forces between the blocks, favorable to Sánchez (172 compared to 170 for Feijóo, with the abstention of Junts and Coalición Canaria).
But you don't rule out that Puigdemont will blow us up if we don't give him what he asks for. Can you imagine that he ended up voting for Feijóo in exchange for nothing, just for destabilizing the State and distancing himself from ERC, while waiting for the flame of October 1 to be reactivated against a Jacobin and centralizing government in Madrid?
