Sánchez meets with Feijóo on Monday in his round of contacts for the investiture
The acting president of the Government and general secretary of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, will meet with the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, on Monday at 5:00 p.m. in the Congress of Deputies, within the round of contacts for the investiture , sources from Ferraz and Genoa have reported..
It will be the second meeting that Sánchez will hold after the one that took place last Wednesday with the leader of Sumar and acting second vice president of the Executive, Yolanda Díaz, with whom he agreed to accelerate the negotiation to close a government pact this same month of October..
Sánchez received the king's order for an investiture on Tuesday, as Feijóo had failed in his attempt, but there is still no date set for that plenary session in Congress.
The meeting with Feijóo comes in the middle of the debate on the amnesty law, which is one of the demands that Junts and ERC have raised to support an investiture of Sánchez, and it is an issue on which the leader of the PSOE himself has already acknowledged that is negotiating with the groups.
Sánchez will ask Feijóo at the meeting to “lift the veto” on the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), according to sources from Ferraz, since they assure that it is “something very serious and urgent.”.
Sources from the PP have announced that Feijóo will convey to Sánchez in the meeting the “absolute rejection” that “the governability of our country is conditioned to the demands of the independence movement and represents the rupture of the equality of all Spaniards”, and will ask him who and what exactly the PSOE is negotiating. “The amnesty cannot be a bargaining chip for Pedro Sánchez to remain in Moncloa. “It is neither constitutional nor ethical to undermine the principle of equality among the citizens of our country, nor is there authorization from the polls to treat anyone in a privileged manner, be they a pro-independence politician or not,” the same sources add..
In addition, Feijóo will advance to Sánchez his negative vote for the investiture, will demand that he mandate the president of Congress to specify the date of the debate and will remind him that he offered the PSOE “a governance agreement based on centrality and moderation that was rejected.”.
Next Friday he meets with Bildu and Junts
On Tuesday morning, as reported by the PSOE in a statement, it will be the turn of BNG (11:30) and the PNV (1:00 p.m.), a partner that the socialists want to “pamper” and that will continue in this legislature as “preferred partner”. In the afternoon, the meetings will be with representatives of the third sector.
On Wednesday, in the morning shift, Sánchez will hold meetings with representatives from the world of culture (9:30), with UPN (11:00), with Canarian Coalition (12:00), and at 1:00 p.m. hours with CKD. That day the round of contacts with the CEOE employers' association will conclude in the afternoon (5:00 p.m.).
On Friday the week's agenda will close with a meeting with representatives of EH Bildu (09:30) and Junts per Catalunya (11:00) before receiving representatives of environmental organizations (12:00).
