Five days before the municipal elections in Barcelona during a campaign in which the squatting has been very present, with messages for and against this group as a result of the controversy over the La Ruïna and Kubo buildings in Plaza Bonanova, Some 400 demonstrators have protested against “fascism in institutions and in society” which they consider to be spreading and affecting their freedoms. The demonstration was called by squatter groups in the Plaza Universitat de Barcelona and entities in favor of the right to housing and anti-fascist groups have joined under the slogan “Stopping fascism is everyone's business”.
A strong police device has prevented the march from going towards the center of Barcelona, since being narrower alleys there could be security problems. The Mossos d'Esquadra have been deployed throughout the Plaza Universitat to keep out the protesters who have complained about the police attitude in addition to charging against the numerous media present. Finally, after launching a smoke canister, the protest passed through the Gran Vía.

Some protesters were hooded and with their faces covered and have taken advantage of the fact that they were passing in front of two bank offices to hit the windows with a mallet and make graffiti while asking the press not to film. They have also destroyed some electoral posters such as that of the Barcelona Ets Tú party of the lawyer Daniel Vosseler. The Mossos have warned the anti-system that they would act if they did not stop causing damage.
After arriving in Sants some protesters threw paint and glue at the media when they wanted to follow them when cutting through narrow streets. They also painted at bus stops.. Upon reaching Plaça de Sants, near Can Vies, another squatted building, the protesters dissolved.
The protest is held hours before the trial for the lawsuit filed by Sareb to urge the eviction of La Ruïna, one of the squatted houses in Plaza de la Bonanova, will be held this Wednesday at Barcelona Court of First Instance number 39 from Barcelona.
