Ten members of a network that exploited Colombian women in Alicante have been arrested

Ten people between the ages of 18 and 65, of Colombian, Argentine and Spanish nationalities, have been arrested for dismantling an organization that sexually exploited women recruited in Colombia, in an operation that has allowed the release of eleven victims on the coast of the province of Alicante .

As reported by the National Police this Monday, the exploited women are between 19 and 37 years old, and the criminal network attributed a debt of 5,000 euros to them for the trip to Spain..

The agents have made a total of three entries and searches at homes in Benidorm, Denia and Gata de Gorgos, where the eleven women were released, and there they seized more than 12,000 euros in cash, as well as 830 grams of marijuana, several surveillance cameras and a high-end vehicle.

The detainees are accused of committing the crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, trafficking in human beings, prostitution, against public health, money laundering and facilitating irregular immigration..

The operation has lasted for eight months due to the complexity of the network and the number of people involved in the criminal organization, specifically it started in November 2022 when some of the victims managed to flee the home where they were sexually exploited and, terrified, They asked for help through the free hotline for victims of trafficking or sexual exploitation (900.10.50.90).

The police protocol was activated and it began to be discovered that these women, once captured, were transferred to Spain acquiring a debt with the criminal organization of 5,000 euros.

The victims were watched by video surveillance cameras and continuously intimidated, giving rise to cases in which they were forced to provide sexual services without prophylactic protection, according to an investigation carried out by the Units Against Immigration Networks and Document Falsification (UCRIF) of the Provincial Police Station. of Alicante and the Denia Police Station.
