The 'pact of flowers' that brought the PSOE to power in the Canary Islands withers
The PSOE wins the elections but will not be able to reissue the pact that brought Ángel Víctor Torres to the presidency in 2019 by losing two seats (from 25 to 23) and by the fall of one of its three government partners: United Yes We Can, which he loses the four he had. Its other two allies, Nueva Canarias and Casimiro Curbelo's Agrupación Socialista Gomera (ASG), maintain the deputies they had, five and three respectively.. The pact of the flowers would thus add 31 seats and would remain at five of the 36 that mark the absolute majority, with the results at 97% scrutinized.
Canary Coalition (CC), which has been in second place with 19 deputies (it had 20). Fernando Clavijo could thus return to the Presidency of the Government with the support of the PP which, in line with the rest of Spain, has experienced a spectacular rise from 11 seats to 15. Both formations would reach 34 deputies together, so they would need the support of the three seats of the Gomera Socialist Association (ASG), which again has the key to the Government as in the previous elections. Casimiro Curbelo's party supported the Canary Islands Coalition in 2015 and the PSOE in 2019. The Agrupación Herreña Independiente, a traditional ally of the CC until last January when it decided to leave its umbrella and present itself only with its initials, has entered Parliament with a seat. The same as Vox, which bursts into the Canary Islands chamber with force with four seats.
Regarding the municipal ones, the former minister Carolina Darias has improved the results of the PSOE in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, achieving 12 councilors (one more), which would allow her to reissue the current coalition with Nueva Canarias and with Unidas Sí Podemos. The PSOE has also been on the most voted list in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, but without the possibility of forming a government.
