The Civil Guard is looking for the former director of the Niemeyer Foundation to enter prison
The Civil Guard is looking for the former general director of the Niemeyer de Avilés Foundation, Natalio Grueso, whose whereabouts are unknown after the Oviedo Court has decreed his admission to prison to serve an eight-year prison sentence.
Grueso was sentenced for continued crimes of embezzlement of public funds, documentary and corporate falsification during his management at the head of the cultural facility.
As sources from the Civil Guard have informed EFE, the Judicial Police of the Armed Institute is looking for the person who was director of the cultural entity between 2006 and 2012, whose sentence was ratified last April by the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court also ratified the sentence of two years in prison imposed on the former secretary of said Foundation, José Luis Rebollo, for continued corporate crime, and reduced from seven years and six months to six years in prison the sentence that had been imposed on the third convicted in the case, José María Vigil, former agent of Viajes El Corte Inglés, for embezzlement, falsehood and fraud.
The sentence ratified as proven facts that Grueso generated expenses unrelated to the purposes of the Niemeyer Foundation throughout the duration of his employment relationship, “disposing of his funds for his own benefit, for his family, friends and third parties around him, as if of his property were, to the detriment of the Niemeyer Foundation”.
With the support of Vigil, to whom he had a friendship, he also concealed travel expenses and hotel stays from relatives and friends with false or altered invoices in the name of Foundation workers or for fictitious concepts..
