The fire in Gran Canaria could stabilize in the next few hours

The forest fire declared this Tuesday in the Tejeda area, on the island of Gran Canaria and which has affected some 200 hectares (canary pine forests and broom) could stabilize in the next few hours, according to the technical director of Emergencies of the Cabildo, Federico Grillo.
The two main flanks of the fire, whose causes are still unknown, are 60 and 70% controlled and its head is somewhat more active, but it is also expected to control it tonight in the Caldera de los Marteles area, when a northerly wind is expected that will favor the work of the forestry teams, the technician specified in a statement posted on Twitter.

According to Grillo, the brigades are working “very forcefully” with the support of water discharges from helicopters, although there are some outbreaks and there is a certain risk that new flanks will open up, but “the evolution is quite advanced.”.
On the left flank and the front, he has said that an attempt will be made to close them with air and ground means in the Caldera de los Marteles, while the right considers that it will go out “easy” because it has reduced its intensity and, even, “it dies by itself on the Tirajana cliffs that look south”..
