The Ombudsman has announced that it initiated an ex officio action in relation to the sinking of a small boat that, apparently, was heading to the Canary Islands last Wednesday, June 21.

In a statement, the body explained that the action will be carried out before the Canary Islands Regional Coordination Center of the Coordination Authority Against Irregular Immigration and before the Maritime Rescue and Safety Society (SASEMAR).

For its part, it will request information on the coordination measures adopted in this regard and the actions carried out during the rescue operation.
