The PP demands that Sánchez "remove" the Amnesty Law "after the result" in Galicia
“The people of Galicia are relieved, as are the majority of Spaniards, because the independence movement does not have power in the regional government,” said Carmen Fúnez, the Deputy Secretary General of Organization of the PP. This statement came after the PP’s victory in Galicia was confirmed.
Fúnez emphasized that the Galicians have chosen coexistence and moderation over divisive and confrontational policies. She called for Pedro Sánchez, the leader of the Socialist Party, to withdraw the amnesty bill after their defeat at the polls. “The Socialist Party should withdraw the amnesty law that is causing so much harm to Spain and the Spanish people,” she said.
Fúnez also commented on the message sent by Galicia’s election results. She noted that Sánchez’s government now only has nine deputies, and that what Spaniards expect from politics is moderation, dialogue, coexistence, and serious policies. She urged the government to focus on the day-to-day lives of Spaniards rather than creating stories and narratives.
In addition, Fúnez highlighted the victory of Alberto Núñez Feijóo and his leadership within the PP. She praised the party’s commitment to building bridges instead of walls, in contrast to the divisive amnesty bill promoted by other political parties.
Fúnez also criticized Vox, stating that they have not been effective in their political actions. She argued that the PP is the most effective instrument against the independence movement and the only alternative to Sánchez’s government. She called for both Vox and the PSOE to engage in serious debates within their own organizations.
