The PP fills the Valencia Bullring again to invoke the "useful vote" of "Vox, Cs and PSOE" for the first time
It has only been a year and a half since the last time the PP filled the Plaza de Toros in Valencia, but politically it feels like a decade has passed. In that convention of October 2021 -made to the “emotional” measure of Pablo Casado, so that he really believed that he was capable of winning- a discourse of cultural battles prevailed. stock. This Sunday the idea-force of the popular has been very different: Alberto Núñez Feijóo has appealed to the useful vote as a tool for “change” towards a management model above ideological factions. “Of good politics”.
The main opposition party had to change pace today after a week monopolized by the Bildu lists and by the clash of criteria of the national leadership with Isabel Díaz Ayuso, first, and with Fernando López Miras, who also points to the path of the banning of Bildu today in his interview with EL MUNDO. And it has done so with two complementary ideas-force: the first, a return to the institutional framework and the temperate zones of management, and the second, the useful vote as the only key to that change.
Both the local candidate, María José Catalá, and the regional leader, Carlos Mazón, as well as Feijóo himself have opted for the refuge effect: “It is essential to unite the vote around the PP. If you want change, vote and concentrate the vote on the PP!” exclaimed the president of the PP. “It is important to vote and get the vote right; bad politics can only be changed by voting”, he added. “If you are outraged by sanchismo and that this sanchismo does not break with Bildu, vote!”, he harangued again.
Aspect of the Valencia bullring during the electoral act of the PP.
Feijóo has appealed to the moderate voters of the PSOE, to the former Cs and to those who left the PP for Vox. In fact, it has been the first time that the leader of the PP has cited the three parties by their acronyms to ask their voters directly for the vote. He has asked all those who want “Spain to do better” for the opportunity “to recover good politics”. “Let's unite the vote around the PP to make good politics possible; that your vote does not serve to endorse Sánchez and Puig,” he held a rally.
The president of the PP has thanked “the injection of moral that supposes for the rest of the campaign to see this square full to the flag”. More than 12,000 people, according to the PP, have filled the arena of Carrer de Xátiva in its central act of the 28-M campaign. “There is an electoral climate, this smells of change,” he said. “Valencia is written with a V for victory”. “It would be a shame if that change slipped through our fingers after having touched it,” he warned.
Crown jewel
The Valencian Community is the jewel in the crown of these elections – “if we win, it is checkmate for Sánchez” – and that is why Carlos Mazón, the regional candidate of the popular ones, has thrown in the rest. In the PP they recognize that if they govern in this autonomy, all the other results will be overshadowed. “Even losing the municipal ones”. Such is the importance of the Valencian ballot box, so Mazón had to fill the square. And he had to do it only with the affiliates of his community. Everything was crowded, except the second naya, which was not opened “for security”, just like on that morning in October 2021-.
The candidate from the Valencian capital, María José Catalá, explained it this way: “No one from other autonomous communities has come here, only Valencians, Alicante and Castellón. We don't need nobody to fill it.”. “And if we have not filled it more, it is for security,” added Catalá.
This bullring is a symbol of the plethoric years of the popular ones, when the Valencian Community was the electoral lung of the Spanish right, and the thermometer. The PP invokes here the spirit of the lamented Montoliú, whose monument already saw José María Aznar render majorities from the same hydrant of the albero.

Feijóo debuted in this square as a national candidate, and he has done so with amazement. “It is the act that all the parties would like to have and only the PP has”, he thanked, before recalling that Aznar and Rajoy told him that if this act went well, “everything” would end up going well for them. “Come on!”, he harangued, before assuring that Pedro Sánchez “is afraid of the street” and that is a symptom of his end. “No one can silence the majority of Spaniards, no matter how much they do,” he assured, without clarifying what he insinuates with those words.
The Galician leader has entered into a dialogue with the lines. When he said an alleged “lie” by Sánchez, the respectable answered “tralará”. It is the new performance of the PP for the final week of the municipal and regional campaign. In other words, after passing “the halfway point of change”, in the words of Feijóo.
The opposition leader has placed special emphasis on the scandal revealed by EL MUNDO about Ximo Puig's relationship with his brother's company when he was mayor of Morella. In its last two and a half years, it billed 427 times without an administrative contract, without a contest and was advertised 150 times in the Francis Puig media in a single fortnight. “Why do we have to settle for giving contracts to relatives without any kind of publicity or competition?!” Feijóo emphasized.
The regional candidate has followed the same general line as Feijóo: “You have to concentrate the vote, efforts. The division takes us away from the change that we already touched with the tips of our fingers”. The head of the local list has made, directly, “a call for the useful vote”. Mazón has contrasted “a de facto president” as, in his opinion, Feijóo is, against “a president of Falcon”, which is how he has described Pedro Sánchez.
“Change begins with public health, with public health and with public health. Universal, efficient and free”, Mazón has reiterated on several occasions. “Health collapsed, politicized education, the highest taxes we have ever had, fiscal hell, with no one to defend us in Madrid, without the water we deserve…”, has listed the star candidate of the 'popular'. “This is about defending this land”, against “the delegates of sanchismo”, he added.
Catalá has charged in turn against “Bildu”, receiving a standing ovation. And the provincial president of the PP, Vicent Mompó, has cited “the Bildu terrorists”. There have been boos. “We don’t want a blandiblup president,” Catalá concluded, so “Valencia will be Feijóo’s talisman to win the general elections.”
