It was one of the most publicized cases due to the relevance of the victim, the television producer and founder of La Trinca Josep Maria Mainat, and who exalted his ex-wife, Angela Dobrowolski, who came to appear on several television programs. He accused her of trying to kill him by administering insulin while they slept at the home they shared in Barcelona in June 2020, three years ago now, although they were already in the separation phase.

It was the beginning of a long and controversial separation process in which Ángela has been accused and convicted of harassing her ex-partner and cashing checks after forging the producer's signature.. Now, the Prosecutor's Office has presented an indictment in which it asks for her 16 years in prison for the crimes of murder and discovery and disclosure of secrets..

The prosecutor also claims for Dobrowolski a fine of 6,000 euros and a restraining order from Mainat of 500 meters for eight years after the prison sentence.. The producer has waived compensation.

The accusation indicates that the couple fought and argued on a regular basis and she even physically assaulted him, since he had stopped giving her money.. That is why they were separating since Dobrowolski had left the family home in Barcelona, although he frequently returned at night to maintain contact with his children.. It was on one of those occasions that he used the home's computer to access the producer's email account and thus find out details of the divorce lawsuit that Mainat was going to file.. In this way, he consulted messages from the victim with his lawyers and documentation specifying that, in the event of his death, she “would be one more heir (of his very notable patrimony), as long as they were still married and without having no divorce proceedings have been initiated”, while otherwise it was excluded from the will.

Thus, the prosecutor believes that Dobrowolski allegedly decided to kill him before he filed for divorce, and tried to do so at dawn from June 22 to 23, 2020, while Mainat was sleeping.. Around 2 in the morning, the defendant “suddenly” woke up Mainat “surprisingly telling him that she had to inject him with a medication to lose weight” that she had been taking for a long time. He was “semi-conscious, and with the sole purpose of avoiding another discussion and continuing to sleep, unable to imagine or imagine the true purpose” of the woman, he agreed to give him the injection, according to the Public Ministry.

The indictment alleges that Dobrowolski, who at the time was in his final medical year and knew Mainat had type 2 diabetes, allegedly actually injected him with “a mixture of rapid-acting and long-acting insulin, aware of the foreseeable fatal consequences.” derived from your injection. The Prosecutor's Office adds that Dobrowolski knew that Mainat had never been treated with insulin because it was “totally contraindicated” for his illness, and that when he was asleep he would not notice the symptoms of hypoglycemia and therefore could not react.

After administering this insulin, she was controlling Mainat's blood sugar level with a glucometer to calculate at what moment “recovery from the hypoglycemia that caused her would be practically impossible,” according to the accusation that adds that the defendant “did not do anything for reverse his status” until 3:12 p.m., when he called 911 with the intention of covering up his actions. The medical services arrived at the house at 3:25 a.m., when Mainat was already in a coma, they gave him “a high amount of glucagon to save his life” and took him to the Quirón Hospital, where he was admitted to the emergency room until 11 a.m.
