Vox relies on Abascal to scratch votes for the PP in the Alicante fief that both parties dispute

The leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, set foot on Wednesday in Alicante and Orihuela, the capital of Vega Baja and the indisputable stronghold of the Valencian right. In this region, Vox usually obtains its best results, especially in the general elections, to the point that in the 2019 event it prevailed as the first force in more than a dozen municipalities. But, in addition, in the regional elections four years ago, the block of PP, Vox and Ciudadanos surpassed the left in votes (59.38%), unlike what happened in the Valencian Community as a whole.

So Alicante is an important place for Vox in its battle to achieve a result that will allow it to force Carlos Mazón's PP to negotiate a coalition government in the event that the right adds an absolute majority in the Cortes. What's more, Mazón's leap into regional politics is given by the presidency of the Provincial Council of Alicante.

So during his speech at a rally in the Alicante capital, Abascal denounced that many citizens feel “blackmailed” by the constant calls for a useful vote by the PP, which he accused of representing “turnismo” with the Socialists. According to Abascal, the popular ones have been “incapable” of repealing their policies during the years that they governed with an absolute majority.

For the leader of Vox, PSOE and PP “compete in lies and calculation”. In this sense, he guaranteed that if he arrives at Moncloa he will repeal all the policies of the Government of Pedro Sánchez “on the first day”.

The Vox leader went to Alicante to support his party's candidate for the Generalitat, Carlos Flores, and the city's mayoral candidate, Carmen Robledillo. Abascal gave the Valencian Community as an example, where he believes that “the colonialism of Catalan separatism has been allowed” with public money from all Spaniards. The “separatists go straight ahead,” he said, so the responsibility is also of those who have “opened the doors” to them.

Flores himself was convinced of the strength that the party will demonstrate next Sunday: “Vox is going to get thousands of free and clean votes in Alicante. It is others who buy wills,” he denounced in reference to the vote-buying scheme that has been uncovered in Mojácar.
