Ximo Puig announces that families with 2 children will be "numerous": "We will be the first autonomy"
“A family with two children in the Valencian Community will be considered a large family. We will extend all the regional rights and benefits for a large family to families with two children”. This is the announcement made this Wednesday by the Valencian president and PSPV-PSOE candidate for re-election, Ximo Puig, at a party event held with socialist mayors.
This is a proposal that the formation will incorporate into its electoral program for the regional elections on May 28, according to sources from the organization.. “We will be the first autonomous community to do so,” stressed the president. Currently, in some regions families with two children are considered large when at least one of them has a disability.
“The reason is very simple: real society has changed and we adapt to it. It has become obsolete to consider large families from three children. Right now, only 66,000 Valencian families meet that requirement”, argued the leader. As he added, the decision will benefit a total of 265,000 families and one million Valencians.

The measure pursues three objectives: on the one hand “to help more Valencian families with two minor children in terms of education, transportation, taxation or leisure”. On the other, ” promote the birth rate”. ” In 40 years the Valencian birth rate has fallen by half”, lamented the regional president. “It is a new measure to stimulate the arrival of a second child. The current average is 1.2 per family,” he said. And, thirdly, to “promote conciliation” .
“The Generalitat will give the help corresponding to regional benefits,” said Puig, who added that the Generalitat will also urge town halls to “join this action and apply local benefits, such as the Property Tax Real estate (IBI).
According to the breakdown, with this decision any family with two children could benefit from deductions in educational tuition, extra points to choose a center and for dining scholarships, reductions in metro, tram and bus fares, deductions in the section regional personal income tax, discounts in cultural or leisure spaces, or a reduction for the purchase of a home from 10% to 4% in the transmission tax.
Lastly, Ximo Puig added that the Valencian Government -if it wins re-election- will urge the State to reform the Law to also apply state benefits to any family with two children or more.
