Yolanda Díaz covers Colau in the Barcelona campaign and focuses her proposals on the economy

The second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, has supported the mayoress of Barcelona, Ada Colau, at the start of the campaign. He did it in an act in this city on Saturday and basing his speech on the economic section. Díaz has defended promoting an observatory of salary margins to link the increase in salaries in proportion to the profits registered by the companies, especially when the big companies are “lining” at the expense of the income of the working class.

A similar idea was outlined in April by the Minister of Economy and First Vice President, Nadia Calviño, who conveyed the intention of creating an entity that collects data on business profits, in order to improve the competitiveness of the markets and move towards an adequate distribution of the rents.

This is how Díaz has noted it in his support for the mayoress of Barcelona and leader of the 'commons', Ada Colau. The leader of the Sumar platform has also promised to work, within the Government, to get the banks to “commit to their country” and suspend the rise in mortgage payments and lower interest rates by one point.

During his speech, Díaz alluded to the salary agreement signed between the CEOE, CCOO and UGT to underline that he is “very happy” with the agreement between the social agents to revalue salaries, but then he added that it is “necessary to do more” .

Above all, he has remarked, given the “exceptional” situation that is going through and which means that, for the first time, there is a “brutal” transfer of wage income to the benefits of large companies, to launch the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, that these corporations “are making money”, since the Bank of Spain in its latest report reveals that business margins “have multiplied by seven”.

benefits and salaries

Díaz has proposed, in this sense, that a public observatory is necessary to scrutinize how much they earn, how they obtain their profits and if the main companies in the country distribute dividends, to tell them that “if their profits grow a lot, salaries must grow in the same proportion “. “This is what politics is for, this is what we are in it for, this is why I am here today, asking for the vote for Ada Colau”, emphasized the Minister of Labor before the audience.

In turn, the second vice president has insisted on the need to take measures to freeze mortgage payments, as has been done in Greece for a year, given that the rise in interest rates is a problem of enormous magnitude, which It affects four million mortgaged people who see how their installments have risen by an average of 300 euros a month, something very difficult to bear, as many people on the street comment.

Consequently, he has proclaimed that it is necessary for the large Spanish banks, which have “absolutely gross” benefits and estimated at 32,000 million euros, to get involved with their country and suspend the revaluation of mortgage payments and suspend interest rates by one point. , so that people “can live with dignity”.

“And I am going to continue working in the Government so that those four million families say that enough is enough.. It has been done in Greece and it can continue to be done,” Díaz concluded.
