At least 14 civilians were killed and five others injured this Saturday by the impacts of a ballistic missile and a drone launched by Yemen's Houthi rebels in a residential area of the city of Marib, the official Saba news agency reported.
According to Saba, controlled by the internationally recognized Yemeni government, the missile and the manned plane, loaded with explosives, hit a gas station where there was a line of vehicles waiting to refuel in the Al Rawda neighborhood in northern Marib, and among the deceased is a five-year-old girl.
The place, according to the information, was first hit by a missile that caused seven cars that were in line to catch fire and, when some ambulances had come to treat the injured, the drone hit.
Marib (center) is the capital of the province of the same name, rich in oil and gas and strategically located between the capital, Sana'a, under Houthi control, and the north and center of the country, it has been the target since last February of an offensive by the rebels.
In recent months it has been the scene of intense fighting between this Shiite movement, which is backed by Iran, and the Army, supported by local tribes.
The Houthis have controlled large parts of northern and western Yemen, including Sanaa, since late 2014 and early 2015, when a war began that escalated with the intervention of a Saudi-led coalition of Arab countries in support of the government.
