5.4 magnitude earthquake shakes sparsely populated area of northeast California

An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 on the Richter scale has shaken this Thursday the Plumas County area in northeast California with no casualties or damage reported so far, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) has reported. ).

The shock occurred at 4:19 p.m. local time (21:19 GMT) and had as its epicenter East Shore, a city of just over a hundred inhabitants, in Plumas County, according to census data.

The strongest tremor was felt in a sparsely populated area.

A 2.5 aftershock was felt at 4:34 p.m. (21:34 GMT) with an epicenter on the East Shore, according to the USGS.

Another 2.8 earthquake was registered at 4:29 p.m. (21:29 GMT) in Prattville, another town in Plumas County, which is located 265 kilometers northeast of Sacramento, the capital of California.

So far no damage or injuries have been reported by any of the three movements.
