A century and a half of the bloody end of the Paris Commune: between oblivion and nostalgia

On a day like today, 150 years ago, the revolution of the Commune ended. It ended in a carnage known as Bloody Week.. In the fighting there were about 5,000 dead.. The retreating Communards executed a hundred hostages, including the Archbishop of Paris.. The winners even shot with a machine gun.
