A mother kills her five-year-old son with a machete, decapitates him and eats his head

An Egyptian court has deemed a woman who beheaded her five-year-old son with a machete and ate his head “insane” after hearing in her confession that she “wanted her son to be with her forever.”

The terrible events have occurred in Egypt. Hanaa Mohamed Hassan, 29, has just been tried for the murder of her own son, Youssef. The woman was detained after Youssef's uncle found body parts in a bucket at the family home in Faqus, northern Egypt.. The mother confessed to the police that she had eaten part of her son's head because “she wanted him to stay with her forever.”

He also confessed that he killed him in the bathroom before stewing his head and other pieces of meat in boiling water on the stove to eat it.

The Prosecutor's Office, for its part, tried to prove that Hassan had killed her son because she feared losing custody of the child to her ex-husband.

Conflicting reports

A preliminary psychiatric report determined that he was responsible for his actions, which were premeditated, as he had obtained a club and a machete and had locked all the doors and windows of his home.

However, the court ordered a more detailed evaluation of her mental state, and a panel of independently appointed psychiatric experts concluded that the mother was “delusional” and had wild notions that her relatives were using witchcraft against her son..
